Horror festival’s 18th edition to close with Tyler McIntyre’s Tragedy Girls.

FrightFest, the London-based horror festival, will mark its return to the Cineworld Leicester Square (formerly the Empire Leicester Square) with the global premiere of Cult Of Chucky.

Director Don Mancini will be in attendance on the opening night, along with stars Jennifer Tilly and Fiona Dourif, which takes place on August 24.

Other world premieres at this year’s festival include an unseen version of Adam Green’s Hatchet, as well as Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo’s Leatherface, their prequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

FrightFest’s 18th edition runs until August 28 and will screen 64 films, including 20 world, 22 European and 18 UK premieres, across five screens at the Cineworld Leicester Square and The Prince Charles Cinema.

This year’s festival will close with the UK premiere of Tyler McIntyre’s Tragedy Girls, starring Alexandra Shipp and Brianna Hildebrand.

The 51st Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (July 1-9) has unveiled the competition titles in its Official Selection, East of the West and Documentary sections.

The 12-strong main competition will comprise eight world premieres and four international premieres, including the last film from renowned Czech director Jan Nemec, who died in March.

The Czech filmmaker was a notable voice of the country’s New Wave movement of the 1960s with titles such as Diamonds Of The Night (1964). His final film, The Wolf From Royal Vineyard Street, will world premiere at Kviff and is an adaptation of his own quasi-autobiographical short stories.

Other titles include Slovak-Czech drama The Teacher from Jan Hrebejk while Roberto Andò is returning to Kviff with The Confessions, three years after his hit Viva la Libertà.

English remake of Inside lands a director – Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo’s Inside is one of the crown jewels of the all too short French New Wave horror movement. A harrowing tale of a pregnant woman stalked in her home, it’s intense, gory, visceral, and essentially (aside from a few logic issues) perfect. So, normally, news of a remake would be met with groans. However, this newly announced English language version could be interesting… Miguel Angel Vivas (who gave us the highly-entertaining film Kidnapped) will direct the update (which features a script from [Rec] filmmaker Jaume Balaguero) when it begins shooting in the very near future. Looking to replicate the commercial success of female-driven genre titles from Spain including The Orphanage, The Others, [Rec] and Mama, the remake of Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo’s 2007 French horror À L’Intérieur follows a recently widowed mother-to-be living in an isolated new home who receives a most unwelcome visitor: a predatory woman who will stop at nothing to snatch her unborn child.

Netflix has unveiled the first look at their new original sci-fi series "Sense8" which was hatched by the pairing of "The Matrix" directors The Wachowskis with "Babylon 5" creator J. Michael Straczynski. All twelve episodes of the series will launch in 4K on Friday June 5th on the streaming service.

The story follows the story of eight people from around the world whose lives are suddenly and inexplicably connected in a fight for their own survival. The post-apocalyptic film site Quiet Earth has released several stills for Miguel Angel Vivas' Extinction. This film was shot in Spain. And, Extinction stars Matthew Fox and Claro Lago. Set in a zombie apocalypse, two survivors do their best to survive in an inhospitable, snowy landscape. The stills, hosted below, show some of the characters and settings. The story was developed from Juan de Dios Garduño's novel. Titled Y Pese a Todo (Despite All), the novel takes place after a viral infection. Savage humanoids lurk on the land. And, a trio of survivors struggle onwards, in the small town of Harmony. Now, the town is being infiltrated and Patrick (Fox) must find a way to keep the hordes at bay. The Cuajimalpa Maternal Hospital is reportedly on the verge of collapse with people still trapped inside, according to CNN. The explosion occurred when a hose burst while a truck was supplying gas to the hospital, Mexico City Mayor Miguel Angel Mancera said. At least 54 people have been injured, 22 of them children, the mayor told the Televisa network. Most injuries were minor. One of the city's webcams captured footage of the horrific incident, which has since been posted on Twitter.

During a concert in Mexico this week, the 21-year-old, Miley Cyrus "We Can't Stop" singer twerked on stage with a giant fake butt as one of her backup dancers spanked her prosthetic booty with a Mexican flag. The dirty flag dancing has some Mexican lawmakers outraged.

Following Miley's concert, local Monterrey lawmaker Francisco Trevino called for government officials to punish the pop star for disrespecting their country. In a video of Trevino's passionate speech, the politico urges Miguel Angel Osorio Chong, Secretary of the Interior, to punish Miley for using the Mexican flag in her act.

According to Mexican law, Miley's flag dancing, which is considered a disrespectful act towards a national symbol, is punishable by up to $1,200 or 36 hours in jail.

Miley wouldn't be the first celebrity to pay the price for misuse of the Mexican flag. Latin singer Paulina Rubio was fined back in 2008 after she posed naked wrapped in the flag.

I’m always happy to see a post-apocalyptic horror movie around the corner ready to scare my socks off. I’m even happier when I see some of my favorite actors set to star, and these two lined up for Welcome to Harmony are a couple of my favorites.

Matthew Fox (Lost) and Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice) are set for leads according to The Wrap and will be the English language debut of director Miguel Angel Vivas (Kidnapped). The movie is based on Juan de Dios Garduño’s bestselling book, Y pese a todo. Here’s the cover and awkwardly translated synopsis from the book, but you’ll get the picture.

Located in confrontation, and the devastation that produce nuclear weapons, the rivals decide to use chemical, cheaper and easier to manufacture weapons. New strains of existing viruses are created using recombinant DNA and thus extinguished almost the entire world population.

Burn Notice's Jeffrey Donovan and former Lost star Matthew Fox have been cast in Welcome to Harmony.

The film will be the English-language debut for Spanish director Miguel Angel Vivas.

Welcome to Harmony chronicles two men and a young girl living in a remote village who are mysteriously spared from the effects of a worldwide infection.

Fox and Donovan will play the two men, with the young girl's casting yet to be announced, reports The Wrap .

Jaume Collet-Serra (Orphan) and Juan Sola of Ombra Films are slated to produce the horror story through their company, along with Hernany Perla (Ghost Team One).

Vivas and Alberto Marini adapted the screenplay for Welcome to Harmony.

Filming is scheduled to kick off in February 2014 in Eastern Europe.

Fox is best known for his work in Party of Five and Alex Cross, and Donovan had a recent role in Clint Eastwood's J Edgar.

It's an important - and captivating - movie for baseball fans; it also delivers more tension and a stronger narrative arc than most documentaries, which makes it more than palatable for those who aren't baseball lovers. Baseball fans will recognize Bobby Valentine's name in the credits as an executive producer, and the non-fans will recognize John Leguizamo's voice doing the narration.

Fourteen films have been competing in iber.film.america, the first-ever Latin American film festival online, organized by VoD platform filmotech.com. “The aim is to bring Hispanic cinema closer to Latin American communities from both continents, America and Europe, through new distribution channels,” said festival and platform director Juan Alía. “Internet is the ideal venue for the general public to have access to these types of films, that are of great quality but have not been released either in cinemas or as DVDs.” Until April 16, the platform’s Latin American visitors will be able to see the films for free, with up to 10,000 viewings possible for each film. The selected films, produced in Latin American countries between 2009 and 2011, will vie for the Critics Award, decided on by a jury made up of five journalists and with a prize of $3,000, and for the Audience Award. Fifteen countries, from Argentina to Mexico via Spain, Nicaragua, and Colombia, are represented in a selection that includes:
