We Were Kings’ ending hinges on the arrest or death of Javo at the hands of his brother, Mike, for allegedly killing Santos or at the hands of the mob boss, Venegas, for betraying him, respectively. Javo, Mike, and Santos had grown up in the same barrio in Mexico City. Santos’ mother, Malena, was Javo and Mike’s godmother, but when they grew up, they fell in love with her. While Mike buried his feelings, Javo got into a secret relationship with Malena and made plans about living together. Those dreams came to an abrupt end when Santos found out about Javo and Malena’s relationship and he tried to kill Javo. During the scuffle, Santos ended up shooting himself and he died. Javo claimed that he was mugged and killed so that he could avoid getting arrested by Mike, who was the investigating officer of that case. However, Javo...

The world of comic books is complex and adapting the stories into one cohesive cinematic universe is not easy. Yet the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in comparison to other such universes, has managed to do extremely well when it comes to adapting several characters, storylines, and plots. The MCU can do everything from bringing the Avengers to live-action to making the unknown Guardians of the Galaxy some of the best-loved characters of all time.
MCU is at a loss when it comes to Blade | Marvel Studios
But what it cannot do is make a Blade movie. The said movie starring Mahershala Ali has been struck in developmental hell since it was announced. And the latest scoop about the movie has fans worried that it will end up exactly like DC’s epic disaster, The Flash.

Madrid, Aug 28 (Ians) Fc Barcelona clinched a dramatic 4-3 victory against Villarreal on Sunday evening, thanks to a remarkable performance from 16-year-old winger Lamine Yamal.
Barcelona seemed firmly in the driver’s seat when Gavi netted in the 15th minute, followed by Frenkie de Jong’s goal three minutes later, establishing a 2-0 lead, reports Xinhua.

Madrid, Aug 27 (Ians) Sevilla’s disastrous start to the season continued on Saturday as the Europa League champions were stunned by Girona 2-1 at home.
Yangel Herrera put an impressive Girona side ahead in the 16th minute when he hammered home a loose ball after Sevilla failed to clear a corner, reports Xinhua.
Nemanja Gudelj leveled for Sevilla on the stroke of halftime as he controlled a clearance from a corner and volleyed home, but Aleix Garcia put Girona ahead 10 minutes into the second half with a good finish from a right cross.
Ivan Rakitic had the ball in the net for Sevilla shortly afterward, but his excellent shot was ruled out for a narrow offside. The home side was denied a penalty appeal in the last minute of normal time after the Var decided Rakitic’s free kick had hit David Lopez’s shoulder, rather than his arm.

Netflix continues to have such a vast array of acquired TV series from around the world that it’s difficult to know what to give a chance. While British shows like “Peaky Blinders” have recognizable faces and don’t require translation, it’s a bit more daunting to commit to a foreign-language series. That requires time and reading before you even know if it’s worth a binge.

The most memorable images of Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán paint him as an almost cartoonish figure: a stout, mustachioed man disappearing down a hole underneath the shower in his jail cell like a mole; a dirt-smeared fugitive being manhandled by military police as he's marched into prison. But the cartel kingpin who had dominated the drug trafficking industry for the past two-and-a-half decades was a cunning, ruthless criminal, one who held positions in most wanted lists from the Chicago Crime Commission to Interpol. His submarines, airplanes and vast network of...

We are tasked here at ComicMix to opine on all that is going around the world of pop culture. Maybe a bit more of a bend towards the comics side of things (it is in the name, right?). But as it stands this week… I don’t care about pop culture. I’ve been catching up on Legends of Tomorrow, but it seems trivial at best. I picked up comics from the shop, a feat I haven’t done on a regular basis in over two years.
I was going to wax poetic on all things Rebirth, but really, why would I? Heck. I could even stretch so far as to discuss my pending excitement of the announcement of Injustice 2, coming out next year on the Playstation and Xbox. I could, but I’m not going to.

English remake of Inside lands a director – Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo’s Inside is one of the crown jewels of the all too short French New Wave horror movement. A harrowing tale of a pregnant woman stalked in her home, it’s intense, gory, visceral, and essentially (aside from a few logic issues) perfect. So, normally, news of a remake would be met with groans. However, this newly announced English language version could be interesting… Miguel Angel Vivas (who gave us the highly-entertaining film Kidnapped) will direct the update (which features a script from [Rec] filmmaker Jaume Balaguero) when it begins shooting in the very near future. Given that this doesn’t seem to be a traditional Hollywood-styled remake, and that Kidnapped certainly...

Netflix has unveiled the first look at their new original sci-fi series "Sense8" which was hatched by the pairing of "The Matrix" directors The Wachowskis with "Babylon 5" creator J. Michael Straczynski. All twelve episodes of the series will launch in 4K on Friday June 5th on the streaming service.
The story follows the story of eight people from around the world whose lives are suddenly and inexplicably connected in a fight for their own survival. This trailer puts the focus primarily on "Stargate Universe" hunk Brian J. Smith and reveals that he and the eight people essentially have access to each other's knowledge and skills and can call upon them at any point.
Tuppence Middleton, Daryl Hannah, Naveen Andrews, Jamie Clayton, Miguel Angel Silvestre, Tina Desai, Doona Bae, Aml Ameen, Max Riemelt, Terrence Mann, Freema Agyeman, Alfonso Herrera , Erendira Ibarra, Adam Shapiro, Ness Bautista and Joe Pantoliano also star.

Imagine you weren't just you -- you also had seven other people in your head. But not in a crazy, multiple-personality kind of way. What if eight strangers were mysteriously connected mentally and emotionally?
That's the premise of Netflix's upcoming new drama "Sense8," from the Wachowskis of "Matrix" fame. Their most recent movie, "Jupiter Ascending," was a bomb in every sense of the word, but "Sense8" has a similar eerie, foreboding quality that "The Matrix" franchise had.
Plus, you've got a diverse cast in many different locations. "We can access each other's knowledge, language, skills," Naveen Andrews explains to one of the eight. And this is the Wachowskis, so there's plenty of action and fight scenes.
The series stars Brian J. Smith, Tuppence Middleton, Jamie Clayton, Miguel Angel Silvestre, Tina Desai, Doona Bae, Aml Ameen and Max Riemelt. All 12 episodes will be available to stream on Netflix on June 5.

During a concert in Mexico this week, the 21-year-old, Miley Cyrus "We Can't Stop" singer twerked on stage with a giant fake butt as one of her backup dancers spanked her prosthetic booty with a Mexican flag. The dirty flag dancing has some Mexican lawmakers outraged.
Following Miley's concert, local Monterrey lawmaker Francisco Trevino called for government officials to punish the pop star for disrespecting their country. In a video of Trevino's passionate speech, the politico urges Miguel Angel Osorio Chong, Secretary of the Interior, to punish Miley for using the Mexican flag in her act.
According to Mexican law, Miley's flag dancing, which is considered a disrespectful act towards a national symbol, is punishable by up to $1,200 or 36 hours in jail.
Miley wouldn't be the first celebrity to pay the price for misuse of the Mexican flag. Latin singer Paulina Rubio was fined back in 2008 after she posed naked wrapped in the flag.

I’m always happy to see a post-apocalyptic horror movie around the corner ready to scare my socks off. I’m even happier when I see some of my favorite actors set to star, and these two lined up for Welcome to Harmony are a couple of my favorites.
Matthew Fox (Lost) and Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice) are set for leads according to The Wrap and will be the English language debut of director Miguel Angel Vivas (Kidnapped). The movie is based on Juan de Dios Garduño’s bestselling book, Y pese a todo. Here’s the cover and awkwardly translated synopsis from the book, but you’ll get the picture.
Located in confrontation, and the devastation that produce nuclear weapons, the rivals decide to use chemical, cheaper and easier to manufacture weapons. New strains of existing viruses are created using recombinant DNA and thus extinguished almost the entire world population.

"The options in the [Dominican Republic] are jail, the army, the factory, or baseball," a Domincan ballplayer once told sportwriter Dave Zirin. Zirin delivers the quote in his essay "Béisbol: How The Major Leagues Eat Their Young," and if you think the essay title is hyperbolic, you should see the new baseball documentary Pelotero. That language isn't nearly as figurative as it sounds.
In the Dominican Republic, ballplayers - peloteros - are raised like cash crops.
Pelotero is set to be released in theaters, itunes and on demand on July 13th. It's an important - and captivating - movie for baseball fans; it also delivers more tension and a stronger narrative arc than most documentaries, which makes it more than palatable for those who aren't baseball lovers. Baseball fans will recognize Bobby Valentine's name in the credits as an executive producer, and the non-fans will recognize John Leguizamo's voice doing the narration.

Fourteen films have been competing in iber.film.america, the first-ever Latin American film festival online, organized by VoD platform filmotech.com. “The aim is to bring Hispanic cinema closer to Latin American communities from both continents, America and Europe, through new distribution channels,” said festival and platform director Juan Alía. “Internet is the ideal venue for the general public to have access to these types of films, that are of great quality but have not been released either in cinemas or as DVDs.” Until April 16, the platform’s Latin American visitors will be able to see the films for free, with up to 10,000 viewings possible for each film. The selected films, produced in Latin American countries between 2009 and 2011, will vie for the Critics Award, decided on by a jury made up of five journalists and with a prize of $3,000, and for the Audience Award.
