Why Terrifier 2s Bedroom Scene Is So Controversial
Image
Just when it seemed like modern slasher films were starting to lose steam, the Terrifier franchise stormed in to provide an incredible horror experience, thanks to Damien Leone's phenomenal direction and screenplay. The franchise has firmly established Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton) as one of the most iconic villains of horror cinema, alongside Michael Myers, Freddy Kruger, Jason Voorhees, and many others.

The original Terrifier film was a huge success, generating over $400,000 on a $35,000 budget, but Terrifier 2 took things to the next level, earning a staggering $15.7 million on a $250,000 budget. While the majority of its success may be attributed to the significant rise in the production budget, the controversial bedroom sequence accounts for a large portion of the film's popularity. So, what exactly made it so controversial?

David Howard Thornton and Lauren LaVera in Terrifier 2 (2022)
Terrifier 3 teaser trailer brings Art the Clown home for the holidays
David Howard Thornton and Lauren LaVera in Terrifier 2 (2022)
Earlier this month, Terrifier 2 – which was a massive hit when it was released last year, earning $15.1 million at the box office on a budget of $250,000 – was given a theatrical re-release where the film was accompanied by a teaser for the follow-up Terrifier 3, which is set to receive a theatrical release on October 25, 2024. Now that teaser, which reveals that Terrifier 3 is set around Christmastime, has made its way online and can be seen in the embed above!

A plot synopsis hasn’t been shared for Terrifier 3 just yet, but we do know that David Howard Thornton will be reprising the role of Art the Clown, while Lauren Lavera will be back as Terrifier 2 heroine Sienna. Damien Leone, who wrote and directed both previous Terrifier movies, is back at the helm for this one. He has said that he wants to return to the “creep factor” of...

Terrifier 2 Director Damien Leone on Success, Critics, and Art the Clown's Future
Image
Terrifier 2 remains one of the most surprising films of the past year or so, and not just because of its shocking brutality and nasty gore. The explanation lies in between the blood and screams, in the artistry with which filmmaker Damien Leone and his astounding cast and crew manifest their collective vision — or nightmare. They managed to downright transmogrify each dollar of a relatively low-budget film so that it seemed to cost 40 times what it actually did. Beyond the aesthetic and technical mastery, the film is simply bolder than nearly any recent horror film, confident enough to embrace surreal fantasy elements and to gamble on its 138-minute runtime; most horror flicks shy away from 90, ironically fearful of their own diminishing scares. Leone wasn't bluffing.

The truly one-of-a-kind Terrifier 2 not only drew five times as much as its initial budget needed from an Indiegogo campaign, but then grossed more than 60 times its budget.

‘Ghost Track’ Review
Image
Stars: Adam Probets, Tamara Glynn, Darren Randall, Katie Richmond-Ward, Lisa Poisman, Natalie Biggs, James Barnes, Daniel Crowe | Written and Directed by Jason M.J. Brown

Writer/director Jason M.J. Brown opens his latest film on the image of a terrified woman, running from something unseen. Courtney (Natalie Biggs) hopes to evade whatever’s chasing her by hiding in a scrapyard, although the plan falls apart when spooky occurrences happen around her. As windscreens shatter, car alarms blare, and a falling car almost crushes her, Courtney is driven to a bridge where she falls to her death. It’s an attention-grabbing opening which successfully presents the terror on-screen, without showing its source.

A group of children experience tragedy while playing near train tracks, as a train hits one of their own, Morris (Daniel Crowe). Frightened and helpless, the others run off without a clue how they could help. Years later, the friends are now adults; Courtney,...

Halloween 5: The Killer Inside Me – Wtf Happened to This Unmade Horror Movie
Jamie Lee Curtis and Nick Castle in Halloween (2018)
After missing out on Halloween III, iconic slasher Michael Myers made his triumphant return to the screen in 1988’s Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers – and you can here all about that in the video found Here. Halloween 4 had a shocking cliffhanger ending. Our little heroine Jamie Lloyd picked up a pair of scissors and attacked her adoptive mother, seeming to have inherited the evil killer instinct of her uncle Michael Myers. Some fans were disappointed that the following year’s Halloween 5 (get it Here) brushed aside the idea of Jamie becoming a killer. Maybe they would have been satisfied with the alternative script for the sequel that was written by Shem Bitterman, Halloween 5: The Killer Inside Me. That’s the unmade Halloween sequel we’re digging into with the new episode of the Wtf Happened to This Unmade Horror Movie video series, which you can...

Terrifier 2 Review
Image
Plot: Homicidal maniac Art the Clown returns to ruin another Halloween – and this time he seems destined to clash with a young woman named Sienna, who is celebrating the holiday in an angel warrior costume.

Review: Writer/director Damien Leone has been telling stories that involve his maniacal creation Art the Clown ever since shooting a short film called The 9th Circle back in 2006. A short that ended up being one of the segments in his 2013 anthology film All Hallows’ Eve, which had Art or references to Art dispersed throughout its 83 minute running time. The character really captured the horror community’s heart and imagination when Leone made the 2016 feature Terrifier, a simple slasher that mostly took place in one location and featured Art making a mess of several people over the course of its 84 minutes. Now Art is back in Terrifier 2 – and the fact that Leone has already...

Horror-On-Sea 2018 Interview: Maria Lee Metheringham talks ‘Pumpkins’
Pumpkins is new 80′s style horror from writer and director Maria Lee Metheringham, which has been selected to play at the Horror-on-Sea Film Festival on Sunday 21st January. I got chance to ask Maria a few questions about making the film, her influences and adapting to changes during the shoot.

What was your inspiration for writing the film Pumpkins?

It started off as a short to be included in another 80s style horror feature film we were writing but we liked the story so much we turned...
