Fans of the 2000 Malayalam comedy film ThenkasiPattanam have a reason to rejoice as the lead actor Dileep and the director Rafi have confirmed that a sequel is in the works. In an interview with Cans, the duo revealed that they are planning to make Thenkasi Pattanam 2 with the same cast and crew as the original film.

ThenkasiPattanam, which was written and directed by Rafi Mecartin and produced by Lal, was a blockbuster hit that starred Suresh Gopi, Lal, Dileep, Samyuktha Varma, Geethu Mohandas, and Kavya Madhavan in the lead roles.

Thiruvananthapuram, June 26 (Ians) Always referred to as the ‘angry young man’ of the Malayalam films, Suresh Gopi turned 65 on Monday.

The last one to reach the superstar status in Malayalam film industry (the other two being Mammootty and Mohanlal), Gopi continues to hold on to the tag of the ‘angry young man’, at a time when many at his age would have entered a peaceful retired life, but he said he has lot of unfinished business.

Big fat egos, which is the norm in the Malayalam film industry, was clearly visible at the closing ceremony of the 27th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (Iffk) when superstar Mammootty’s latest film came under criticism from none other than Ranjith, Chairman of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, the organiser of the event.

The multi-faceted Ranjith, also a hugely popular film personality, was peeved when he was booed by a section of the audience, mostly the youth, when his name was announced to speak at the closing ceremony of the Iffk.
