Wesley Snipes Starred In One Of The Worst Westerns Of All Time
Image
The road to the 2013 straight-to-home-media Wester/horror film "Gallowwalkers" was weirdly circuitous. Way back in 2005, Ain't It Cool News announced that Chow Yun-fat was working on a horror Western wherein he would play a bounty hunting gunslinger that fought zombies. That film was to be called "The Wretched" and would be overseen by the production companies Sheer Films and Patriot Pictures, with Andrew Goth serving as co-writer and director. AICN's scoop was also confirmed in an issue of Fangoria Magazine.

Chow must have dropped out, though, because the next update on the project came in 2008, also in an issue of Fangoria. "The Wretched" had since become a project titled "Gallowwalker." The film was still being co-written and directed by Goth, but Wesley Snipes (who's one of our best actors) was now slated to star alongside David DeCoteau regular Andrew Smith and wrestler Diamond Dallas Page, with shooting to take place in Namibia.

Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us, Andrew. What attracted you to MindGamers and how did you collaborate with Joanne Reay to come up with this story?

Andrew Goth: Joanne was already into the field of quantum theory and consciousness. I love science, but I’m not that bright. We had to find an entertaining premise that did not...

Gallowwalkers Review
Remember that zombie Western movie Wesley Snipes was working on while he was being convicted of tax fraud? No? Oh, this is kind of awkward then – but I don’t blame you. Gallowwalkers was being filmed way back when in 2006, and almost suffered a huge setback when Wesley Snipes flew back to Orlando and turned himself in for his tax-dodging methods, but luckily the star was released on bail for $1 million and was allowed to finish Andrew Goth’s film. Hooray? Eh, not really. There’s a reason this film was sitting around for such a long time, and I can assure you it wasn’t because of Wesley Snipes.

Gallowwalkers tells the tale of a “cursed gunman” named Aman (Wesley Snipes), a man who has to fight an undead gang of victims he’d killed once before. Bringing along a criminal companion named Fabulos (Riley Smith) as a partner,...

Gallowwalkers Return from the Dead Again and Again: A Movie Review
Director: Andrew Goth. Writers: Andrew Goth and Joanne Reay. Cast: Wesley Snipes, Kevin Howarth, Riley Smith, Tanit Phoenix, Simona Brhlikova and Steven Elder. Gallowwalkers is a film, which began production in 2006, in Namibia. This title experienced some stumbling blocks when the principal actor, Wesley Snipes, was arrested for tax evasion. This project was put on hold, until his release. And now, Gallowwalkers will soon be available to western and horror films fans. The film itself is a little convoluted and some of the editing techniques are a little choppy. However, Gallowwalkers offers an interesting take on a familiar genre, the western. Initially, the film's story is all over the place. Snipes plays Aman, a man seeking revenge. Aman is also cursed by the Devil? And, anyone that he kills will come back to life. So, his revenge does not go smoothly and his sidekick is more trouble than help. Aman...

Gallowwalker New Movie Poster and Trailer
Wesley Snipes is back to his bad-ass self in the western Gallowwalker, but this time he’s ripping off zombie heads.

One thing we love seeing Wesley Snipes do is fight the undead, but this time the Blade star takes his skills to the wild, wild west battling zombies. We think of zombies as a modern post apocalyptic problem, but the filmmakers are taking some creative liberties making the setting a western. After all, zombies are the new “it” monsters and if we could have a good time watching talking zombies in Warm Bodies, why not talking cowboy zombies. Now that’s called escapism.

The plot behind Gallowwalkers sounds similar to his Blade character. A cursed man (Snipes) must fight injustice in the form of the undead. The film, directed by Andrew Goth, was directed before

Watch: Wesley Snipes in a Zombie Western - 'Gallowwalkers' Trailer
"Out here they come back harder to kill." Now what is this? Back before Wesley Snipes got in trouble and went to prison, he shot a zombie western called Gallowwalkers. It drifted around, collecting dust for years after director Andrew Goth finished it, and recently reared its ugly heading, selling at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this month. Our friends at Bloody-Disgusting got their hands on the trailer and it's pretty much a must watch based on the concept - Snipes as a cursed gunman in the old west, the people he kills come back to life as undead zombies. Tanit Phoenix, Riley Smith, Kevin Howarth and Patrick Bergin co-star. Watch the first promo trailer for Andrew Goth's Gallowwalkers, originally from Bloody-Disgusting: A mysterious gunman is the son of a nun who breaks her covenant with God to ensure his survival. 'Gallowwalkers,' the Zombie Western Wesley Snipes Made Six Years Ago, Has a New Trailer
Most movies take long roads toward seeing the light of day. Even with that being the norm, Gallowwalkers has had a longer and stranger road than most. The film about a bounty hunter in the wild West who faces off against the undead initially was to star Chow Yun-Fat and be called The Wretched, but that version died in 2005. It was reborn a year later with a new name and a new star: Gallowwalker, starring Wesley Snipes. The movie, directed by Andrew Goth, moved forward pretty quickly after that and was completed by 2007. So why are we talking about a new trailer for it in 2013? It never actually came out, that's why. If a movie sits on a shelf that long, it's typically a sign that it's a stinker, but in this case, it likely has more to do with Snipes' ongoing...

Soon, he is hunted by a gang of his undead former victims, led by the vicious Kansa. Aman enlists Fabulos, a new young warrior, to fight by his side. Previously titled Gallowwalker (without the "s"), the film is directed by Andrew Goth and they shot this one back in 2007. It's been sitting on the shelf ever since. With Wesley Snipes getting out of prison this July, I guess it's the perfect time for Gallowwalkers to be released. Bloody-Disgusting has some new images as well, so head over there to check them out.

Wesley Snipes in Blade (1998)
'Twilight' Gets An Art-House Make Over In Horror Bites
Wesley Snipes in Blade (1998)
Xan Cassavetes — daughter of famed moviemaking couple director John Cassavetes and actress Gena Rowlands — seems to have been inspired by the sexy and twisted vampire films from the 1970s for her new movie "Kiss of the Damned." The cool, contemporary take on bloodsucking fiends tells the story of one vamp falling in love with a human, but the relationship is threatened when the undead woman's wild sister shows up.

The entire vampire community also becomes endangered thanks to the troublemaker's pathological personality. The red band trailer that popped up on Yahoo! this week reveals a very retro, erotic vibe. Look for "Kiss of the Damned" on iTunes/On Demand March 28, or see it in theaters May 3. We vote you whet your appetite in the meantime by watching this Nsfw trailer.

Check out the trailer (and the rest of Horror Bites) after the jump!

Wesley Snipes Returns to Kill the Undead in Gallowwalkers Trailer
"Do you remember me?"

Tax time is almost upon us and no one is more aware of that than actor Wesley Snipes. Sentenced in November of 2010 to three years in prison for willfully failing to file federal taxes, the Blade actor will be a free man this July, perhaps in time to see his latest release, Gallowwalkers. The Western sees Snipes do what he does best — dispatching hordes of the undead — as he plays cursed gunman Aman, who is hunted by a gang of his undead former victims.

If you're wondering how Snipes was able to appear in the movie while still being held in jail, he wasn't. Shot back in 2007, Gallowwalkers has been sitting on a shelf since at least 2008, until Vmi Worldwide picked up the rights and sold the U.S. distribution rights to Wreckin Hill Entertainment. "Wesley is officially back in the Us, and soon the rest...

The Second Trailer for Gallowwalkers Shines Brighter
The second trailer for horror western Gallowwalkers has been released recently. Cinephiles will already realize that this film was completed in 2007. However, the key actor, Wesley Snipes, was convicted for tax evasion, which led the film to be put on hold. The film is now moving towards a release date, with Gallowwalkers recently showing at the European Film Market (Feb. 8th). From this film market, a second trailer for this feature has been released. This second trailer is a major improvement over the first. Although shorter, this clip shows spit and polish, with central character Aman (Snipes) wandering the wastes. Aman is the son of a nun and his mother has broken her covenant with God. This break leaves Aman cursed and followed by those men and women he has killed. The clip shows a few of the many characters who Aman has encountered once, twice and sometimes three times before.

Wesley Snipes Hunts Zombies in the Wild West
I get the feeling Wesley Snipes and Nicolas Cage ought to just open up a production company together and make ridiculous movies for the rest of their lives and every so often bring in Dolph Lundgren, Steven Seagal or Steve Austin to fill out the cast when necessary. For his latest film, Gallowwalkers, Snipes does mine the old world of wrestling and brings along Diamond Dallas Page for the ride and I expect that ride will end at a neighborhood Walmart bargain bin some time soon. Gallowwalkers is the story of a mysterious gunman, Aman (Snipes), the son of a nun, who breaks her covenant with God to ensure his survival. Her break with God curses her son to be hunted by all those who die by his hand - When he takes revenge on a gang that murdered his love, the gang rises as a cursed crew of undead warriors and hunt him mercilessly,...

First Bloody, Shoot’em Up Trailer for Wesley Snipes’ GallowWalkers
Looks like we’re finally going to be seeing director Andrew Goth’s “GallowWalkers” sooner rather than later. The horror/Western has been a long time in coming, but 2013 looks to be its year. If Wrekin Hill Entertainment, the folks who will be releasing the film are smart, they’ll wait until the movie’s star Wesley Snipes gets out of Federal prison so he can start doing the promo rounds. That would be, oh, around July 19, 2013, if he’s still on track to get sprung. Meanwhile, take a gander at what I am assuming is a new Red Band trailer for “GallowWalkers”. It’s quite squib-tastic and features a couple of decapitations. A mysterious gunman, Aman (Snipes), is the son of a nun who breaks her covenant with God to ensure his survival. This act brings a curse upon Aman – all those that die by his gun will return.

Wesley Snipes at an event for The Great Debaters (2007)
Gallowwalkers Poster Featuring Wesley Snipes
Wesley Snipes at an event for The Great Debaters (2007)
Wesley Snipes is gearing up for a small resurgence, with a lead role in Gallowwalkers, followed by an appearance in The Expendables 3. This action icon of the early Nineties is overdue for a comeback, and is only now reemerging from his taxes woes, which leveled him at the knees. Having paid his dues to society in real-life, the rejuvenated actor is taking on the lead in Gallowwalkers, in which he stars as a lone gunman who must deal with the ghosts of his victims.

Born of a nun who sacrificed herself to save Aman as an infant, the young boy is cursed by God to be haunted by all those taken by his hand. When he seeks revenge on a ruthless gang responsible for the murder of his one true love, he must then battle these reprobates who return to Earth more powerful than ever, forming an army of undead warriors that are mercilessly unstoppable.
