Otis M. Gove was born in Seabrook, New Hampshire May 3rd, 1851. He was a State Senator in Massachusetts and part of the Waltham savings and bank corporation, serving on committees of railroads and banks. He also was a cinematographer and partnered in 1905 with Archibald H. Van Guysling to open the pacific coast branch of the American Mutoscope & Biograph Co., Biograph Studios-Los Angeles in 1906. This was the first motion picture company and studio facility in Los Angeles, CA. Gove is also known for Civilization (1916), The San Francisco Disaster (1906) and directing 'A Daring Southern California Hold Up [us]', the first movie made in Los Angeles (1906). He died on January 23, 1931 in Los Angeles, California, USA.
