Halloween Ends may have killed iconic slasher Michael Myers off on the big screen, but there’s really no stopping a successful horror franchise. Last October, Malek Akkad’s Trancas International Films secured a deal with Miramax Television to develop and co-produce a Halloween TV series… and one person who would be interested in working on the show is Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers director Dwight H. Little, who has racked up a lot of TV experience since his days of working on Halloween 4. There’s also another Halloween project Little would like to work on and has even pitched: a direct sequel to Halloween 4 that would see the return of Danielle Harris and Ellie Cornell as Jamie and her foster sister Rachel!

Dwight Little’s legacy falls into one of three categories: horror, action, and TV. From the horror couplet that is Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and the Robert Englund-starring Phantom of the Opera to the action trilogy of Rapid Fire, Marked for Death, and Murder at 1600, as well as his TV work (The X-Files among his most-known projects), Little has managed to reinvent himself numerous times over his 30+ years career.
It’s not an easy task to stay relevant in an ever-evolving landscape, especially in the age of streaming, but Little’s instincts have always guided his creative hand. With his new memoir, Still Rolling: Inside the Hollywood Dream Factory, the filmmaker walks the reader through various stages of his career, shares insider tips and tricks, and regales with celebrity encounters.

Look out! Michael Myers is back — for revenge. Sort of. While "Halloween 5" is officially subtitled "The Revenge of Michael Myers," that subtitle never actually appears in the opening credits. Maybe they forgot. In any case, The Shape is back yet again, despite being shot approximately a billion times and dropped down into a mineshaft at the end of "Halloween 4." But you just can't keep this guy down for long (unless you're making a sequel about masks that turn kids' heads into bugs or something like that).
In "Halloween 5," The Shape spends a full year sleeping, only to then wake up, refreshed and ready to go after his niece Jamie Lloyd (Danielle Harris) once again. Meanwhile, his old nemesis Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence) has gone off the deep end, and he's willing to act like a crazy person if it means finally killing Michael once and for all.

Autumn and horror naturally pair well together. The cooling weather, changing leaves, pumpkin patches, and, of course, Halloween ensure that, for the horror fan, it’s difficult to separate the two. This week’s streaming picks are dedicated to horror movies that embrace an Autumnal atmosphere, with many set around Halloween proper.
These picks leave off some of the more prominent Fall horror movies, like Sleepy Hollow (Max) or The Blair Witch Project (Paramount+), to pad your watchlists with less obvious choices.
Here’s where you can stream them this week.

Halloween as we know it has finally come to an end. No longer will The Boogeyman be haunting the streets of Haddonfield. With the release of Halloween Ends, and before the series is inevitably rebooted again, it’s time now to take stock of the franchise and its best moments. Over the course of 44 years, the Michael Myers saga has given us plenty of frights. There have been exciting highs and terribly grim lows. Through it all, there’s always been something worth talking about, no matter how divisive.

After missing out on Halloween III, iconic slasher Michael Myers made his triumphant return to the screen in 1988’s Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers – and you can here all about that in the video found Here. Halloween 4 had a shocking cliffhanger ending. Our little heroine Jamie Lloyd picked up a pair of scissors and attacked her adoptive mother, seeming to have inherited the evil killer instinct of her uncle Michael Myers. Some fans were disappointed that the following year’s Halloween 5 (get it Here) brushed aside the idea of Jamie becoming a killer. Maybe they would have been satisfied with the alternative script for the sequel that was written by Shem Bitterman, Halloween 5: The Killer Inside Me. That’s the unmade Halloween sequel we’re digging into with the new episode of the Wtf Happened to This Unmade Horror Movie video series, which you can...

In 1996, "Scream" introduced viewers to the rules of slasher flicks, and even if they knew them already, even if they sat on the couch throwing popcorn at the screen and cursing every bad decision in every horror movie ever made, "Scream" put into words what moviegoers had always known. Horror movies are where seemingly well-grounded and intelligent individuals make stupid choices that often result in bloody death.
The pattern of human error found in all horror films is as universal as it is legendary, and the massively successful and constantly reinvented "Halloween" franchise is no exception. Since Michael Myers killed his sister, Judith, his path of carnage has been aided by what can lovingly be called the "kerfuffles" of some of his victims. In this article, we will honor some of the worst decisions characters have ever made in the "Halloween" franchise. There will be hot takes! There will be rants!

The Halloween franchise gets a lot of attention during the month of October, and while fans are revisiting the past films and watching the new one, Halloween Ends (read our review Here), in theatres and on the Peacock streaming service, we decided this was a good time to dig into the making of one of the Halloween films with a new episode of our Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? video series. The movie being covered this time around is my personal favorite of the sequels, 1988’s Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (watch it Here) – and you can find out all about the film’s development and production by checking out the video embedded above!
Directed by Dwight H. Little from a screenplay by Alan B. McElroy, Halloween 4 has the following synopsis, lifted from the back of the VHS release:

This article contains Halloween Ends spoilers.
Michael Myers is dead. Again. As the title of Halloween Ends all but guaranteed, the third film in David Gordon Green’s trilogy of sequels to the 1978 original brings the curtain down for good and all on the story of Michael Myers and his war with the babysitter who would not die, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis).
Granted, Michael Myers has died before, including more than once at the hands of Curtis’ indomitable Laurie Strode—as well as other variations of these characters when they were played by different actors! And yet, Halloween as a movie franchise never seems to end. One might be even so cynical as to assume that Halloween Ends will likewise not be the last word we have with the Shape in a William Shatner mask.
Even so, it marks the almost certain conclusion of Curtis’ participation in the Halloween franchise,...

We are now officially in Halloween season, and that means it’s time to start revisiting entries in the Halloween movie franchise. A decade after Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence) set himself and Michael Myers ablaze at the end of "Halloween II," a comatose Michael Myers finally awakes during an ambulance transfer from Ridgemont Federal Sanitarium back to Smith's Grove Sanitarium in 1988's "Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers." The trigger: overhearing ambulance personnel reveal that he has a living relative. Jamie Lloyd, his niece and daughter of Laurie Strode (played by Jaime Lee Curtis in the first two films) lives with foster parents in Myers' hometown of Haddonfield Il. Consequentially, he returns to kill her.
I'm that one hard-to-please "Halloween" fan who unfairly compares any sequel and remake to John Carpenter's 1978's masterpiece. My qualms with "Halloween 4" primarily lie with The Shape. Exclusive: The Shout! Studios thriller Dead Reckoning starring Riverdale and Songbird actor Kj Apa is set to hit digital and on-demand on November 13.
Directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak and written by Kristin Alexandre & Alfred Wayne Carter, Dead Reckoning takes place on the island of Nantucket and tells the story of Tillie (India Eisley) whose summer romance with Niko (Apa) comes on the heels of her parents’ sudden and mysterious death in an airplane crash.
The movie also stars Scott Adkins, James Remar, Ellie Cornell, Devon Diep and Sydney Park.
“Dead Reckoning had a lengthy journey to the screen,” said Alexandre.
Carter adds” “We now know how hard it is to shepherd an indie feature from concept to distribution. Our focus on future projects is entirely on characters that uplift the human (or innocent animal) condition and are worthy of such time-consuming projects.”

Despite a pretty definitive ending for The Shape in 1981’s Halloween II, which saw Michael Myers burning to a crisp in its final moments, the iconic killer managed to return by the end of the decade, just in time to ride the final wave of social interest in slasher films. Though Halloween III: Season of the Witch had attempted to move the Halloween franchise away from its reliance on Michael, the chilly reception it received upon its release in 1982 meant that the series as a whole was put on ice, with both John Carpenter and Debra Hill – the two responsible for its existence in the first place – giving up their interest in it in the years that followed, allowing for the cinematic resurrection of Michael in 1988’s aptly-named Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers.

When it was released in October of 1988, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers reinvigorated a struggling franchise whose fanbase was clamoring for more of Haddonfield’s most infamous resident. It was up to director Dwight H. Little to resurrect the horror icon a decade after he first terrorized Laurie Strode, and this time, Michael Myers had his sights set on Laurie’s daughter, Jamie Lloyd, played by the precocious Danielle Harris.
When first approached to direct Halloween 4, Little was still an up-and-coming filmmaker with only a handful of feature film credits to his name. Dwight was excited by the prospect of getting to work on a Halloween movie, but had some initial reservations about the project after his first meeting with producer Moustapha Akkad.
“I think Moustapha had seen part of a recent film that I had done, so they called me to come in for an interview,” explained Little.

So the big question everyone has been wondering since the announcement of the next Halloween film was whether or not it would continue on in the universe set up by Rob Zombie. Recently Collider caught up with Malek Akkad at the Saturn Awards, who shed some light on the subject.
“I can’t talk about it too much right now," says Akkad. "It will definitely keep elements and bring in new elements. But I really want to bring it back to kind of like, the classic – because the last one got a little dark – I want to bring it back to the classic Friday night horror film that people will really like.”
When asked about the ill-fated Halloween 3D, which was announced a couple of years back...
"Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier did a script. The next day after the last one came out, we were back in production for Halloween 3D.

House of the Dead 2 (2005)
Director: Michael Hurst
Writers: Mark A. Altman, Michael Roesch, Peter Scheerer
Cast: Emanuelle Vauguier (Alexandria), Ed Quinn (Ellis), Sticky Fingaz (Dalton), Nadine Velazquez (Rodriguez), Sid Haig (Professor Curien)
I can’t believe that I’m singing the praises of a “House of the Dead” movie. The first one was such a big disappointment, that a sequel that was so dissimilar to it in every way was a pretty welcome sight. I’m not a gamer, and perhaps I might have enjoyed the original, a bit more if I had. Doubtful, but maybe.
This one has Sid Haig, the hardest working man in exploitation film for four decades and counting as a professor that has come up with a way to reanimate the dead. He picks up a test subject/victim from the local college. She ends up being the...

John Carpenter didn't know what he was unleashing in 1978 when his independent slasher Halloween hit theaters. It was a runaway sensation which spawned hundreds of imitators and continues to even now. Whenever a movie is financially successful, you can bet on it studios are going to demand a sequel. Halloween II followed the original in 1981 without Carpenter's direction. It picked up exactly where the first one left off.
An attempt to take the Halloween franchise into a different direction without the help of serial killer Michael Myers chopping away at victims failed in a third movie. The decision was made to re-instate the successful formula of the first two films with the next installment, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers. Anchor Bay released a new Blu-ray version of the 1988 movie and it looks marvelous.

On August 28th, Anchor Bay Entertainment revamps two of the most iconic horror films to ever grace the big screen with Halloween 4 and Halloween 5. Coming to Blu-ray with all new HD transfers and over an hour of both archival and newly created bonus features.

This time, Michael returns to Haddonfield for Jamie Lloyd (Danielle Harris, Halloween 5, The Last Boy Scout) – the orphaned daughter of Laurie Strode – and her babysitter Rachel (Ellie Cornell, Halloween 5, House of the Dead). Can Loomis stop Michael before the unholy slaughter reaches his innocent young niece?...

Modern-day Scream Queen and all-round hottie Danielle Harris is to make her solo feature debut with new comedy horror 'Among Friends'. A new trailer has been unleashed and it looks to be a good old fashioned 80's-like horror from the one lady who knows her stuff. The gorgeous Danielle, now just 34 years young has been involved in horror for over 20 years now, after first appearing in 'Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers' all the way back in 1988. Danielle helms and will star alongside Christopher Backus, Jennifer Blanc, Aj Bowen, Dana Daurey, Brianne Davis, Kane Hodder, Kamala Jones and Chris Meyer all star. You may recall Harris co-directed 'Prank' along with Ellie Cornell and 'A Nightmare on Elm Street's Heather Langenkamp back in 2008. Check the new trailer below along with a shot of the sexy Danielle and equally sexy female cast from her new movie.
