In 2015 was named "International Women's Day Honoree" by the UBCP (Union of British Columbia Performers) Women's Committee for her history of giving back to the union, the industry, and causes of social justice.
She and her husband changed their stage names, as there were already actors with the same birth names. Margaret (Maggie) Smith became Anna Hagan, (her grandmother's maiden name), and James Beggs became Hagan Beggs, an homage to his wife.
