Lyubomir Halachev is a producer, director and scriptwriter. He
graduated from the State Institute of Cinematography, Moscow
in 1972; specialized in documentary cinema at Centro sperimentale
(Rome), in France and in Denmark. In his forty-year-long career in film
industry, he has worked as a scriptwriter for shorts, documentary
director and producer. In 1994 he set up Kadiak Film, a film and TV
production company. Founder of the Association of Film Producers
in Bulgaria. Full professor at National Academy for Theatre and Film Art, Sofia. He was a Rector of
the Academy. He has made more than hundred documentary and short
award-winning films. Now he produces documentaries and TV dramas
for Bulgarian National Television. He published seven books on different aspects of the filmmaking
process ("Documentary Film: Step by Step" is his latest one).
