The 1988 Human Rights Australia Film Award recipient is one of
Australia's most experienced film and television producers with a
career that began as an actor at the age of 9 in 1948. He entered the
film industry at Artransa Park Studios in 1958 as an extras casting
assistant on the Hecht Hill Lancaster production of Ray Lawler's
'Summer of the Seventeenth Doll'. Since 1967 as producer and executive
he has been involved in the development, production and marketing of
more than fifty film and television productions. He has worked with
thirteen directors on their first feature films and as many first time
writers and producers. In 1996 he received a Lifetime Achievement Award
from the Producers and Directors Guild of Australia. He was also named
Film Pioneer of the year by the Society of Australian Cinema Pioneers
'for outstanding service to the Motion Picture Industry'. At the Screen
Producers Association of Australia's Independent Producer Awards in
2002 he was the inaugural recipient of the Maura Fay Award for service
to the industry.
