- In June 2015, Richard once talked down an apparent suicide jumper from the top of a 'Toys R Us' multi-storey car park, only to discover that the man was on the edge of the building attempting to summon his pet budgerigar, Dave, from a nearby church weathervane. The bird ended up flying to Richard, who fed it with leftover sushi. The bird's owner was surprisingly ungrateful.
- During the sketch show Fist of Fun, Herring would often talk about his crazed obsession with the actress Julia Sawalha. The two entered a relationship years later, although Sawalha had not seen any of these sketches.
- The Edinburgh Fringe is now well under way, although thus far it has been overshadowed by the Olympics. We only became comedians because we were bullied by all the cool and sporty kids at school, and now they're sticking it to us again.
