The Warrior Woman in Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior is one of the more mysterious and interesting characters in the film, and she has some unique connections to later Mad Max movies. The Road Warrior is often considered a highlight of the entire franchise: it has some of the best action, one of the best main villains in Mad Max, and a simple yet incredibly effective plot to tie it all together. That simplicity, however, meant that some of The Road Warrior's concepts and characters weren't entirely fleshed out. One such character is the Warrior Woman, played by Virginia Hey.
Since Max Rockatansky (Mel Gibson) had the least lines of any Mad Max movie in The Road Warrior, the Warrior Woman actually got several chances to speak and show audiences who she was. Despite her various speaking lines, however, she remains a bit of a mystery. Her...

Supporting characters like Rublevitch and Frederick Gray provide depth and balance to Bond's adventures. Notable characters like Felix Leiter and Q have evolved over the franchise, adding layers to Bond's story. Each actor who has portrayed James Bond has brought a unique stamp to the iconic character, keeping audiences engaged.
On his own, he's one of the most iconic movie characters of all time, but 007's franchise has been shared by some memorable James Bond characters who have been staples of the movies. The 007 series has never been too concerned with continuity, but there is a mythology to these movies that has allowed certain characters to become expected participants in all of Bond's adventures, namely his loyal allies within MI6. However, there have also been some notable supporting players who fans might not realize have frequent appearances.

While not exactly manual labor, acting can be quite physically strenuous, including for actors working in television. From the long working hours to arduous stunts and strain on mental health, television acting is hard work. These working conditions can occasionally lead to the performers becoming physically ill from their experiences, sometimes affecting the actors for the rest of their lives. In fact, some of the most iconic TV shows in the history of the medium have had notable instances where their actors have become sick from the experience.
Here are several major instances of actors becoming physically sick from their TV show roles. In many of these incidents, the afflicted actors pushed through, and their ill performance actually made final cut of the episodes, becoming a part of television broadcast history. But, as they say in Hollywood, the show must go on and these actors definitely demonstrated their full commitment...

Mad Max franchise mastermind George Miller recently brought us a new addition to the series with the release of the Mad Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa (read our review Here) – and while that movie struggles to draw in viewers during its theatrical run, we have decided to take a look back at the first Mad Max sequel, the 1981 classic The Road Warrior (watch it Here). You can hear all about it in the embed above!
Directed by Miller from a screenplay he crafted with Terry Hayes and Brian Hannant, The Road Warrior – which is also known as Mad Max 2 outside of the United States – has the following synopsis: After avenging the death of his wife and young son at the hands of a vicious gang leader, Max drives the post-apocalyptic highways of the Australian outback, fending off attacks from nomadic tribes that prey on outsiders. A handsome American ends up stranded on an alien ship, manned by an unusual alien crew, where he falls in love with its resident warrior woman. It's not "Guardians of the Galaxy," it's "Farscape," the Australian-American sci-fi series! The series was created by Rockne S. O'Bannon and Brian Henson with alien designs courtesy of the Jim Henson Company, including several puppets that served as central characters. "Farscape" is funny, campy, and weird as hell, setting it apart from not only its television contemporaries but all other sci-fi shows. "Farscape" ran for four seasons from 1999-2003, and while it wasn't as popular as some of the other big sci-fi shows, it has a devoted cult following that really loves it.
In a retrospective for the show's 25th anniversary at IGN, Henson shared his inspiration for the show and what he and O'Bannon were trying to do with "Farscape." With its wacky...

Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome director George Miller recalls working with the late musical legend Tina Turner. The story of rock icon Turner has been told through fictional films (What’s Love Got To Do With It) and documentaries (Tina), but Turner herself crossed over into film as well, appearing in the movie adaptation of the rock opera Tommy and the ill-fated 1978 Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band movie. Turner’s biggest and best-remembered film appearance however came in 1985 when she starred as post-apocalyptic warrior-queen Aunty Entity in the action-packed sequel Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome.
Turner’s memorable appearance in the Mad Max series naturally came to many people’s minds upon news of the legend’s passing at the age of 84, and was certainly on the mind of the series' creator Miller, who took to The Guardian to offer his recollections of casting Turner and working with her on the film.

Mad Max 2 (aka The Road Warrior)
Written by Terry Hayes, George Miller and Brian Hannant
Directed by George Miller
Australia, 1981
Mad Max 2, or as it is more commonly recognized in North America, The Road Warrior (upon its release not enough people had actually seen Mad Max, therefore prompting the title change) , begins with a brief montage of archival documentary footage and scenes from the first film that set up the world viewers are about to launch into. Society has now collapsed. When resources became scarce, the people revolted. The institutions tried to retain order, but it was too late. What was hinted at in 1979’s Mad Max is now a harsh reality, with the titular character (Mel Gibson) driving the dusty Australian roads in search for food and resources for his amazing car, the Ford Falcon. This time his efforts at scavenging are temporarily thwarted by the pilot...

Juliette's Farscape look-back considers which was its best season, a tricky decision to make...
This feature contains Farscape spoilers.
Usually, when we sit down to think about the best season of a show, we have an answer in mind. Perhaps there are two seasons that are particularly good but we have a personal preference, perhaps one particular season is clearly head and shoulders above the rest. But an answer, however debateable it might be, usually presents itself fairly quickly.
Not so with Farscape.
Farscape was a remarkably consistent series, which maintained a certain level of quality throughout its run. That isn’t to say all seasons were completely equal. Like all shows, it took a while to find its feet, to set its tone and for its characters to get bedded in to their roles. Season one, then, isn’t the best season. Although...

Juliette talks us through Farscape's top 5 puppets in space, with help from the Scarrans, Vorks, and Hynerians...
One of the most common criticisms levelled at Star Trek over the years has been that it depicts a universe almost entirely populated by humanoids, or humanoids with bumpy foreheads. Now, we think this is a trifle unfair for a couple of reasons; first, various Trek series did occasionally experiment with such non-humanoid alien life forms as sentient rocks (Original Series, The Devil in the Dark) or giant space jellyfish (Next Generation, Encounter at Farpoint) and second, there are practical, financial reasons most aliens have to be humanoid. However, it remains true that sentient life in the universe of Star Trek and most other space operas tends toward the humanoid.

This has not been a good year for Los Angelino/extraterrestrial relations. First there was Battle: Los Angeles. Then The Asylum’s Battle of Los Angeles. Now there’s Alien Armageddon, which, not surprisingly, was originally titled Battleground Los Angeles.
On the same day that Cowboys & Aliens limps onto store shelves, another alien invasion movie featuring a cowboy battling aliens (judging by the cover art) will be touching down on DVD and Blu-ray via Phase 4 Films.
Starring Rochelle Vallese, Katharine MeEwan, Claudia Wells, Don Scribner, Marilyn Ghigliotti and DeeDee Bigelow, with a cameo by Virginia Hey, filmmaker Neil Johnson’s Alien Armageddon is an impressive looking low budget alien invasion effort about humanity’s last stand in the last remaining city on Earth – Los Angeles.
Have a look at the trailer. Seriously, have a look at it. Really damn impressive for low budget sci-fi movie.

As if Battle: Los Angeles and Battle of Los Angeles (the obligatory Asylum mockbuster) weren’t enough for the poor citizens of Los Angeles, now comes an Alien Armageddon… Directed by Neil Johnson, the film stars Katherine McEwan, Don Scribner, Rochelle Vallese, Benjamin J. Cain Jr, Claudia Wells (of Back to the Future fame), Julia Parker, Will Tulin, Marilyn Ghigliotti (Clerks), Eric Nyenhuis, DeeDee Bigelow and a cameo by Virginia Hey (Road Warrior, Farscape).
When the world is invaded by an ancient race of aliens, the city of Los Angeles is fortified as an alien stronghold. The only way to fight is from within.
And hey, what’s not to like about a film that features aliens, monsters, gorgeous women, strong men, blood, guts, stuff blowing up and (of course) flesh-ball babies! Just check out the trailer and images we’ve been sent for the film:
Alien Armageddon will receive it’s premiere in,...

There is another alien invasion film set in Los Angeles, which is set for a theatrical release July 6th. The title is Alien Armageddon and the synopsis sounds strangely like Battle: Los Angeles and also The Asylum's knock-off Battle of Los Angeles. Skyline could also be lumped in with these films and this reviewer is starting to get the sense that certain Los Angeles filmmakers want the City of Angels to burn to the ground. With the financial setbacks for S.E.T.I. (Search for Extraterrestrial Life), director Neil Johnson will have to wait a little longer for Los Angeles to crumble and burn under alien attack. For now, sci-fi fans with similar interests to Johnson, can have their wish fulfillment somewhat satisfied by visiting the Crest Theatre in Westwood July 6th, to watch Alien Armageddon on the big screen!

This set has been a long time coming for fans of the popular space saga but also for someone like myself who never got a chance to take the journey that is Farscape.
Dubbed as Muppets in space, this sci-fi jaunt is so much more. Its Buck Rogers meets Babylon 5 with yes…muppets.
Whats key with the series, that you’ll find on this dvd experience, is that it is dated a bit, but whats fascinating is that the series really came out of the sci-fi comfort zone of the Star Trek formula. It certainly along with Babylon 5 at the time really pushed the genre in a different direction probably leading to creatives to lean into the reboot of Battlestar Galactica and the newly favored Sgu.
The series went beyond the bridge of a starship and showed other elements to the worlds beyond combining sexy and edgy motifs...

Woohoo! About time, eh?
This set is sure to satisfy fans and, hopefully, birth a bunch of new ones. This show was a groundbreaking, head-spinning forray into intergalactic war, alternate realities, and puppets. Awesome puppets.
Rarely given its due by the network that spawned it, this is the perfect chance to revisit or discover the rag-tag, misfit crew aboard Moya.
The full press release as follows:
New York, NY – When a freak accident during an experimental space mission catapulted Astronaut John Crichton (Ben Browder) across a thousand galaxies to an alien battlefield, a groundbreaking cult classic was born with the epic, adventure-filled TV series “Farscape”.
On November 17, the award-winning fan favorite show, which ran from 1999-2003 on Sci Fi and was named by TV Guide as one of television’s best cult shows ever, will commemorate its 10th Anniversary with the very first complete packaging of the series. Featuring all 88 episodes on 25 discs,...
