There's a moment in The Bold Type season one when the first Black social media director of Scarlet - the fictional women's magazine - slams her fist into the face of a random bigoted white man and fights back as the police rush in to handcuff her. As a viewer living in the reality where Black people are harmed or killed by police violence with startling regularity, my first thought was not fit to print online. But my second thought was just sheer incredulity, and I wasn't the only one. Aisha Dee, the actress wielding Kat Edison's fist of fury, was as disbelieving as I was.
"At first I was like, 'Well, there's no way this girl looked in the mirror and didn't see a Black girl staring back at her, because that's it.' This doesn't make any sense," the Australian actress recounted to Popsugar.

Canadian distributor Mongrel Media has finally released online the trailer of the upcoming film Oliver Sherman.
This film directed by Ryan Redford is based on the short story Veterans, by Rachel Ingalls.
The story is about Oliver Sherman (Garret Dillahunt), a war veteran. Because he's alone, Oliver sets out to find the man who saved him during the war. That former fellow soldier, Franklin Page (Donal Logue), lives in a small town, has a reliable job and a wife (Molly Parker). As Oliver becomes more and more part of Franklin's life, tension arises. In Franklin's opinion, Oliver seems to be a violent man who threatens his stability.
The film also stars Fiona Highet, Duane Murray, Kaelan Meunier and Marla J. Hayes.

After a Canadian premiere on the TV network CTV, the Canadian TV series The Bridge will finally arrive in the USA. In fact, the show will premiere July 10 on CBS, an American TV network, at 8 Pm.
The TV series is loosely based on the experience of Craig Bromell, the former head of the Toronto Police union. We follow Frank Leo (Aaron Douglas), a street cop who is tired to see that the union's bark is worse than its bite while facing "the brass". Because his colleague finds him charismatic and that he organized a massive walk-out, Frank is elected as the head of the police's union.
As a head of the union, Frank promises that the union will always be there for the cops and that the whole police force will be cleaned from the top to the bottom. In his quest, Frank will be helped by Abby St-James (Ona Grauer), a beautiful lawyer,...
