Let it be known: Don't mess with Kate. In the above exclusive sneak peek from Below Deck, Kate Chastain, the chief stew aboard Valor, reads Jennifer Howell the riot act. You may recall Jen's drunken antics while on the boat—Kate sure does. Jen touched deckhand Kyle's food (don't mess with his food!), called people whores and even scratched a crewmate. "Jen. Just stop talking," Kate says, surprising Jen in front of everyone. Up they go to main salon for what is one of the chilliest sitdowns in recent memory. "I don't want an eyeroll either," Kate tells Jen after re-informing her of Captain Lee's rules. "May I say something please?" Jen...

In August, Taylor began producing duties on “Larrikins,” the animated film that has an expected release date in 2018. Taylor oversaw the development of both “Trolls” and “The Boss Baby” during his five year stint as head of development at DreamWorks. Paramount has hired several new executives to bolster its nascent television division, which it launched last year under the stewardship of Amy Powell. Powell has tapped Jason Fisher as her head of production. Fisher comes from AMC, where he oversaw the production of shows such as “Walking Dead,” “Mad Men” and “Breaking Bad.” She has also hired David Goldman as the head of business affairs, Jennifer Howell as the head of comedy development, Annette Savitch as the head of drama development and Stephanie Love as head of finance. Exclusive: Paramount chairman and CEO Brad Grey continues to stray from the conventional path in his hiring choices for the film studio’s recently re-launched TV division. After naming Amy Powell — Paramount’s head of Digital Entertainment and Insurge Pictures who has no TV experience — as President of Paramount Television in July, I hear the division is bringing in Jennifer Howell as head of comedy. While Howell comes from a TV comedy background, it is all in animation. She most recently headed 20th Century Fox TV‘s animation department since its creation in 2008 until this past May, developing such series as Fox’s Bob’s Burgers, Murder Police, Napoleon Dynamite and Allen Gregory. Before that, Howell was Evp at Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s production company Important Films and worked as a supervising producer on South Park where she also has voiced the character of Bebe Stevens. Exclusive: Jennifer Howell, head of 20th Century Fox TV‘s animation department, is leaving the studio to pursue other opportunities. I hear her contract is up in May and is not being renewed. Howell has headed the department since 20th TV created it in 2008. The series developed on her watch include Fox’s Bob’s Burgers, the recently picked up Murder Police as well as Napoleon Dynamite and Allen Gregory. 20th Century Fox TV chairmen Dana Walden and Gary Newman are expected to find a replacement. Additionally, Howell ran the joint Fox/20th TV Fox Inkubation initiative focused on breaking new animation talent by evaluating potential toon series through fully-formed 2-minute shorts rather than by traditional script development. The program, also started in 2008, developed a number of projects though none got on the air. It was dissolved last year after Fox shifted its attention to the launch of a late-night animation block,...

Fox launches Inkubation
News Corp. is drawing up big small-screen animation plans.
20th Century Fox TV and Fox Broadcasting Co. have teamed to launch Fox Inkubation, a joint venture designed to discover new animation talent and develop animated projects outside of the traditional model.
Additionally, 20th TV has formed a new animation department focused on more conventional development of cartoon series and has tapped Jennifer Howell, executive vp of Matt Stone and Trey Parker's Important Films, to run it.
"So much of our success has been driven by animated shows, and we have been contemplating how to step up our efforts in the area," 20th TV chairman Gary Newman said. "We believe it is critical to our future success."
Separately, Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly had been looking to do the same on the network side, so the sister companies joined forces to create Inkubation, which also will be overseen by Howell.
The initiative will give aspiring writer/animators funding to make two-minute shorts in lieu of penning a script.
If the shorts are successful, Fox and 20th TV may order additional shorts or go to pilot, possibly pairing the newcomers with experienced showrunners.

Parker, Stone in 3-year deal at Paramount
Paramount Pictures has entered into a three-year first-look deal with South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, effective immediately, the studio said Thursday. The acerbic pair, best known for mocking pop culture icons, will need extra large business cards because they named their new banner Trunity, a Mediar company, a division of True Mediar, a Unity Corpbopoly. Parker and Stone will develop projects for Paramount that they will direct, write and produce. Anne Garefino and Jennifer Howell, who have worked on Comedy Central's South Park since it bowed in 1997, will join Parker and Stone at the new shingle. Garefino will continue to serve as executive producer on the half-hour comedy and will produce Parker and Stone's Paramount projects. Kurt Nickels also has joined the Trunity team.
