‘Bob’s Burgers’ Reveals Landmark 300th Episode Details, Plus New Halloween and Christmas Installments
Image
“Bob’s Burgers” is hitting its 300th episode, and the show is celebrating with several special episodes. For the landmark 300th, “Bob’s Burgers” will flash back to the very beginning of the Belchers’ restaurant, exec producer Loren Bouchard told fans Saturday during the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

“In the present day Bob is really sweating whether or not to raise prices, and it’s killing him,” Bouchard said. “It sends us on this kind of series of flashbacks to to just what was going on when Bob and Linda started the restaurant.” In the episode, Bob is overwhelmed with cooking for all of his customers — constantly throwing up in the kitchen — while Linda is about to give birth.

Bouchard also revealed a new Halloween episode, in which Teddy takes a job in the store next door, a creepy cult store. Jamie Demetriou (“Fleabag”) guest stars. And a new...

‘Fortnite’ Partners With ‘Bob’s Burgers,’ ‘Family Guy’ and ‘King of the Hill’ for Father’s Day Promotion
Image
Bob Belcher, Cleveland Brown and Hank Hill are coming to “Fortnite.” via a Father’s Day-themed promotion with 20th Television Animation, the studio announced Friday. “Fortnite” players will be able to purchase items as either a bundle or via a la carte.

The partnership is a key moment of synergy: Disney’s 20th TV Animation is behind all three shows, and Disney has a $1.5 billion stake in “Fortnite” owner Epic Games.

Here’s how the “Fortnite” in-game event is being promoted: “Maybe you’re a Bob – serving puns rarer than your burgers. Or a Hank? Passionate about propane and silently judging uneven lawns. Or maybe you’re a Cleveland – you love minor league baseball and hats and ooze classic dad charm.”

Bob Belcher, of course, comes from “Bob’s Burgers” and is voiced by H. Jon Benjamin. “Family Guy’s” Cleveland Brown is voiced by Arif Zahir. And the Hank Hill...

How the Coastal Record Labels Crashed Nashville: “Artists Don’t Have to Follow Those Old Rules”
Image
Nashville is experiencing a tidal wave from the coasts. As country music has exploded in popularity — thanks to superstars like Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs and Zach Bryan and crossover phenoms like Post Malone and Jelly Roll— what was once a siloed industry run by the “good ol’ boys” of Music City is today being influenced by deeper-pocketed record labels out of New York and Los Angeles. The result, both on the executive and artist-roster side, has meant shifting both priorities and perceptions.

Indeed, the numbers tell the story. Post Malone bounced back from a commercial low with 2023’s Austin, scoring one of the biggest hits of 2024 in “I Had Some Help,” with Wallen. Shaboozey, signed to Empire, a predominantly hip-hop label, tied Lil Nas X’s record for longest-running No. 1 song last year with “A Bar Song (Tipsy)”; and Chappell Roan recently entered the country chat with “The Giver,” which...

This Minor Bobs Burgers Character Has the Saddest Backstory in the Show
Image
When Bob's Burgers first hit screens in 2011, it was clear that the show wanted to do something different. While its competitors, like Family Guy and The Simpsons, wanted to show a more bleak side of family life, Bob's Burgers charmed its audience with its adorable domestics. The Belcher family is built on love, and that's what makes them one of the best-animated tribes on television.

Yet, not every character is as cheerful as the Belchers. Some characters act as contrasts to the family, proving to the audience that sadness and injustice still reside in this colorful fictional world. Regular Sized Rudy may seem like an ordinary fourth grader, but hidden beneath the surface is a very sad little boy who still has the ability to tug on the viewers' heartstrings.

Rudys Family Troubles Isolate Him From Others

Rudy makes his first appearance on the show in Season 3, Episode 22, "Carpe Museum,...

The Boys' Homelander Respects 1 Other Supe (& They're Not on the Seven)
Image
The relationship between Homelander and Butcher adds complexity and depth to the character dynamics in The Boys #5. Homelander's acknowledgment of Butcher as a worthy opponent highlights the tension and history between the two factions. The respect that Homelander shows Butcher sets the stage for a climactic confrontation that will further intensify the conflict in the series.

Homelander, the unhinged supe who served as the primary antagonist for the majority of The Boys' run, respected just one character in the entire franchise and rather than one of his teammates on the Seven, he actually extended his begrudging esteem to Billy Butcher, the sworn enemy of all superpowered characters.

The Boys #5 written by Garth Ennis, with art by Darick Robertson emphasized that, despite the violently antagonistic nature of their relationship, Homelander respected Butcher, the leader of the Boys, recognizing him as a worthy, and dangerous, opponent.

Considering that series would subsequently make...

The Boys Improves the Comics' Darkest Scene By Removing Its Most Controversial Plot Device
Image
Quick Links The Boys' Most Problematic Scene, Explained The Boys Season 4 Has Homelander Giving Horrific Orders The Boys Season 4 Makes the Best Creative Decision The Boys' Homelander Brings The Youth Into the Vought Gang

The following contains spoilers for The Boys Season 4, Episode 5, "Beware the Jabberwock, My Son," which debuted June 27 on Prime Video. It also contains a mention of sexual assault.

When it comes to the most controversial TV shows on streaming, The Boys ranks at the top of the list. Throughout Season 4, the gore, nudity and profanity are at an all-time high. It makes the show's satire of the world's politics a bit more caustic, but it does so to illustrate the classism, elitism and societal divides existing today. It started out as superhero satire, but as showrunner, Eric Kripke, has said, it's very much parallel to reality at present.

Image
Exclusive: Fox has locked in two of the tentpoles of its Sunday animation block for two more years. The two long-running series, along with animated stalwart The Simpsons, come from 20th Television.

Katy Perry has extended her Us Pop Songs chart record. The singer's latest single 'The One That Got Away' has moved up to number one on this week's list to become Perry's sixth Pop Songs chart-topper from Teenage Dream. The Pop Songs chart is purely based on airplay, unlike Billboard's Hot 100, which includes airplay, sales and streaming. The star has become the first artist to have six Pop Songs chart number ones from a sole album, with Lady GaGa and Justin Timberlake her nearest rivals at four apiece. Capitol Records executive Greg Thompson told Billboard that the feat is a "tremendous recognition for one of the most talented artists in the world. We couldn't be happier (more)...

Interview with Jason Lockhart of Mine & Vampire Boys
Jason Lockhart Deemed one of the potential breakout stars of the year in the horror genre by this very site, Jason Lockhart is one of the busiest actors this year with a wide variety of projects that are either in pre or post production or just recently released like Vampire Boys. Vampire Boys is a gay romantic horror comedy / drama that's out to push boundaries and open the door for a new type of film to co-exist in the indie film world. Jason Lockhart has a non fussy, awww shucks kind of screen presence that allows for him to relate to viewers as the appealing guy next door as he takes on roles playing the nerd, the lovable goofball or the everyman. However, he hasn't allowed himself to be completely corner stoned by this by playing a brooding bad boy in Mine, a cross between Steven Spielberg's Duel and the 2001 thriller Joy Ride.
