Willow has launched on Disney+, a series sequel to the popular 1988 movie, and has many recognizable filming locations. Warwick Davies and Joanna Whalley reprise their roles as Willow Ufgood and, now Queen, Sorsha, respectively, and Willow introduces many new characters, such as Ruby Cruz as Princess Kit and Erin Kellyman as Jade. Willow is set years after the 1988 movie when Queen Bavmorda was defeated, but when the kingdom is under threat once again, and one of Sorsha's children, Airk (Dempsey Bryk), is taken, Willow leads Kit, Jade, and others to rescue him.
Contrasting to the Willow movie locations, which were shot in locations all over the world, the entirety of the Willow TV series' filming locations are in Wales as its landscapes have many features which coincide with the mythical lands Willow possesses. Additionally, Willow was not shot entirely on location, with sets built at studios being used for the...

Shown at this year’s Frightfest, The Cunning Man is not the most obvious of shorts to be playing at that festival. Inspired by John Harries (1785-1839) a physician and ‘cunning man’ – a healer who uses folklore magic; the film tells the story of an elderly and mysterious farmer who drifts through the Welsh valleys collecting dead animals. What he has in store for those animals soon becomes apparent.
The Cunning Man looks fantastic. You’d be forgiven for believing that this is just an extract from a big-budgeted full feature film. There’s some really nice cinematography, with lingering shots on animals – first some dead flies and then a sheep that are near enough perfect. Using farmland and the countryside, in just a few brief shots you get a feel of the location,...

From unseen forces to dangerous desires, from the remorseful living to the remorseless dead, from under the earth to creepy closed doors, Arrow Video FrightFest 2019 continues the festival’s fine tradition of showcasing the best in global genre short filmmaking. This year’s five continent selection unleashes the newest creations from both upcoming and established filmmakers and embraces a record fifteen UK films, seven spotlighted selections from Canada and a breakthrough entry from The United Arab Emirates.
Homegrown talent continues to energise the UK film industry, as reflected in this year’s entries. There’s Folk Horror and Body Horror, whilst lethal women lurk around every corner in Sleep Tight, Under The Parasol and Dog Skin. Katie Bonham returns with ticking terror thriller Midnight and Josefa Celestin is back with the darkly apocalyptic Tomorrow Might Be The Day. Production will begin in London this month. The film is produced by Peter Fraser, Sarah McCarthy and Qanir.
British cinematographer Polly Morgan is also on board the film, which centres on a man who awakens in an Interpol interrogation room to find his memories have been replaced and his identity lost.

Guy Ritchie, the stylish Brit behind the hyperkinetic one-two punch that was Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, hasn’t made a great crime comedy since 2008′s RocknRolla (blame Warner Bros., which keeps throwing Ritchie big fish like Sherlock Holmes and The Man from U.N.C.L.E.). It might be a while until the auteur bounces back with another instant classic but in the meantime, at least we have Black Out, a mostly clever and entertaining Dutch flick that mimics Ritchie’s furious editing technique, convoluted storytelling and zany characters so meticulously that it almost managed to convince me it was doing something original.
That’s a diss, sure, but originality has never been a requirement in cinema; on the contrary, it’s so rare that we wildly applaud whenever we do see it. And to be fair, Ritchie stood on the shoulders of other filmmakers...

“Valar Morghulis” Air Date: 6/3/2012
Well crap. Another season of Game Of Thrones is in the history books. Has it really been 10 weeks already?
Following last week’s explosive battle-filled episode “Blackwater” isn’t an easy task, even for a season finale. In many ways, last week was just as important and exciting as any finale, and I would say it was a better, more exciting, and complete episode than last night’s. But “Valar Morghulis” is no slouch, and it gave us a good shove into the direction of George R. R. Martin’s A Storm Of Swords, which seasons 3 and 4 will be based upon. There’s a lot to cover here, so much in fact, that some subplots I’ve left out so as not to spoil them.
The finale picks up some time after the events of the battle, where last we saw Tyrion, possibly gravely injured,...

“The Prince of Winterfell” Air Date: 5/20/12
After perhaps the strongest episode of the season last week, Game Of Thrones takes a step back in “The Prince of Winterfell.” While all great stuff, this latest episode was all over the place, essentially sprinkling ingredients for the final two climactic episodes of the year (which, judging by the previews, look positively orgasmic). While there were some important developments, fantastic scenes, and some awesome lines (from Yara in particular), this was merely a bridge episode and I wish more had happened. But let’s continue…
Theon’s sister Yara (Gemma Whelan) rides into Winterfell. Expecting congratulations for taking Winterfell, Theon is surprised to receive insults instead. By killing Bran and Rickon he has angered every Northern man in the realm (and every viewer at home), put a massive target on his back, and lost any leverage their lives would’ve offered.

“The Old Gods and the New” Air Date: 5/6/2012
Chalk up another great episode for Game Of Thrones, in an episode that perhaps strays further than the books than any other to this point. And for me, that’s very much a good thing, providing more surprises to loyal readers of Martin’s A Song Of Ice And Fire.
In the North, Maester Luwin hurriedly sends a raven with tidings of an attack on Winterfell. Bran is woken from his dream to a nightmare: Theon and his Iron Island sailors from Pyke have taken the weakened Winterfell. Bran can’t understand why someone he grew up with would betray him and his family, and is forced to yield the castle to Theon, now the Lord of Winterfell. The people of Winterfell are fiercely loyal to the Starks and refuse Theon’s leadership, and when the captured former Master of Arms,...

Game of Thrones Season 2 Trailer. The Seven Devils Game of Thrones TV show trailer features a song entitled (I presume) ‘Seven Devils’, song sweetly by a female singer. The Game of Thrones Seven Devils trailer features all new footage for season two of Game of Thrones. The part when the singer or singers say “seven devils are around you” after Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) is finished speaking is pretty powerful. Also we are shown that parts of the second and third books in the A Song of Ice and Fire book series are represented in season two. Why do I saw that (spoilers): The Unsullied are shown as well as the moment of their purchase. That happens in A Storm of Swords, the third book in the series (end spoilers). Like it says in the prologue of one of the books though, some events happen coterminous with other events...

Game of Thrones Season 2 Trailer. The HBO Go ’First Look’ Game of Thrones TV show trailer brings into focus many aspects of the new season of the HBO show, chief among that Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) will play a pivotal role since he is shown over and over again. I do not want to give again away but from reading the book this season is based on, A Song of Ice and Fire: A Clash of Kings, I can say that this is accurate.

This is amazing. As you will see pointed out at the beginning, they are Not in Santa Monica. The landscape of the remote areas of Iceland where “north of the wall” is being shot for season 2 of Game of Thrones is exceptionally beautiful, and brutally harsh. This is giving me a whole new appreciation of, and impatience for, the upcoming season. Take a look:

The other day I spent the best part of an hour mindlessly browsing through the TV box sets at HMV before I remembered why I had gone there in the first place; to ascertain the release date of HBO’s Game of Thrones Season 1 on Blu-ray. According to the girl at the counter their computers said 2013, which basically means, “We have no bloody idea.”
My searches on the Internet have proved equally as fruitless. I’m a little disappointed at this, because I’ve been hanging out to re-watch the series as it was meant to be seen – in crisp 1080p. The best estimate I’ve found comes from http://www.westeros.org, an invaluable resource for all things A Song of Ice and Fire, who are suggesting the 19th March as a viable date (UK). I was hoping that this article would coincide with the blu-ray release but since...

Following up the announcement that Rose Leslie has been cast as Ygritte Martin posted the following on his blog.. And seeing as how we've added a wildling to the cast, it's only fair that we add a man of Night's Watch too. Playing Qhorin Halfhand will be Simon Armstrong. Simon is a veteran of stage and screen, and another great addition to our cast. Whether or not he is willing to have half his hand chopped off to better portray Qhorin remains to be seen... Armstrong has appeared most recently in Killer Elite and the little seen but excellent Made In Dagenham. Martin has said that Qhorin would be the last major character cast in season 2 of the HBO series with just a handful of minor parts still to be filled. Qhorin Halfhand is a veteran of the Night's Watch who teams up with Jon Snow for a very dangerous...
