Animated kids' shows need likable characters to attract young audiences, but some characters end up being hated due to their negative traits and actions. Characters like Otto Rocket from Rocket Power and Randall from Recess were disliked for their competitive and snitching behavior, respectively. Characters like Bendy from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and Sparky from The Fairly OddParents were disliked so much that they never appeared on the show again.
Animated kids’ shows usually have lovable, relatable, and funny characters that younger viewers can identify with and have fun watching, but many shows have included characters that end up being hated by viewers of all ages. Animated shows aimed at children are often lighthearted and with stories that offer a moral lesson, while the purpose of many is to educate their young audience. To achieve these goals, animated kids’ shows have to have likable characters that attract the audience’s attention,...

3D Realms unveiled a whack of new titles at their Realms Deep 2023 showcase over the weekend, as well as offering up updates for previously-announced games. That of course includes a whack of new trailers to ogle, so here’s a small rundown of the titles featured during the 4-hour show (which you can rewatch here). The showcase is also coinciding with the Realms Deep 2023 Steam sale for several 3D Realms titles, which is on now until October 3rd.
In Harrison’s preview (and in the new trailer!) for Atmos Games’ action-adventure shooter Twisted Tower, he likened the game to “an ultra-violent cross between BioShock, Willy Wonka & Disneyland”. And it’s easy to see why. You play as Tiny, who has received a Velvet Ticket to participate in the world-famous game show, The Twisted Tower, hosted by the billionaire toy maker, Mr. Twister. Hoping to use the $10,000,000 prize and fame...

“My philosophy for making games is that I have this thing I call: ‘The Trinity Hook,” explains indie developer Thomas Brush.
“What that means is that any project I’m working on has to appeal to the audience on three separate levels. First of all, it needs to have a decent story hook. Then, it needs to have a strong visual hook and finally, it needs to have a gripping mechanical hook. You’ve got to tick all three of those boxes. Otherwise it’s not worth doing.”
Just from a glance, you can see how these guiding principles helped shape the vision for Brush’s latest: Twisted Tower. Indeed, as we sit down with the charismatic creator, it’s evident that he has given a lot of serious thought to how he plans on meeting that self-imposed criteria.
And it’s a discipline that seems to have paid off in spades!

From the Creators of Ash and Bone & The Devil’s Left Hand comes “Beneath Us All”- A Viking origin Vampire Tale, yes you heard me right… Sounds intriguing right?

I think it’s pretty safe to assume that no one had exceptionally high hopes for Peacock’s take on Twisted Metal. A comedic adaptation of an over-the-top car combat franchise that hasn’t seen a new entry in over twelve years – it feels like everything was stacked against this odd little streaming project from the very start. Thankfully, the end result was a surprisingly entertaining show that managed to combine original storytelling with enough nods to the original source material to keep both fans and newcomers consistently engaged.
That being said, there’s clearly still room for improvement here, which is something that the show itself acknowledges towards the end of the experience with its tease of a more game-accurate second season. With that in mind, we’ve come up with this list highlighting six reasons why we’re excited for a second season of Twisted Metal, as while...

When Twister took over multiplexes (and drive-ins…) in 1996, its effects blew audiences away, making it one of the most impressive and exhilarating movies of the middle part of the decade. And it’s these visuals — particularly those that are practical — that Twister’s director, Jan de Bont, thinks make it remake-proof.
Speaking with Inverse, Jan de Bont said the practical work in Twister heightens the thrills of the blockbuster. “When things fell from the sky, there were real things falling from a helicopter…If you film a car escaping a tornado in a hail storm, it was real ice that came at us. It’s a movie that cannot be remade…That would never, ever happen again.” And that’s partly why de Bont is so skeptical of the upcoming sequel – uh, we mean “new chapter” – to Twister, saying he’ll have someone else watch Twisters for him when it opens next July.

Banijay Takes Full Control Of Beyond And Prepares For Rebrand
Banijay has taken full control of Mythbusters firm Beyond International and intends to rename and rebrand the Australian outfit as the “necessary integration process” kicks off. The circa-30M acquisition was first revealed in October last year, giving the acquisitive French powerhouse control of an 8,000-hour catalog including factual hits such as Highway Thru Hell, Heavy Rescue: 401, Massive Engineering Mistakes, Halifax: Retribution and Deadly Women. The move leaves distributor Banijay Rights, which shops the likes of MasterChef and Big Brother, with a circa-130,000 hour catalog. Today, Banijay took full control and a spokeswoman said the intention is that “[Beyond’s] distribution activities will fall under Banijay Rights’ name.” The acquisition was carried out via a Scheme Implementation Deed which, once implemented, means Beyond ceases to be publicly traded. Beyond Managing Director and CEO Mikael Borglund is remaining in his current role. Banijay...
