Kate's feature debut as co-director and co-writer was Memories to Choke On, Drinks to Wash Them Down, which won the Best Screenplay award from the Hong Kong Film Critics Society. She is a permanent resident of Hong Kong, her adoptive home.
Kate teaches theater and film in local schools and universities. She provided acting training to the children in The Sunny Side of the Street, including 2023 Hong Kong Film Awards Best New Performer Sahal Zaman. Kate leads a joint program for the University of Hong Kong and Broadway Cinematheque in which she programs films and discusses them with a mix of Masters-degree students and general Cinematheque audience members.
Kate has collaborated with many international directors, and has acted in films that won national awards, competed in Rotterdam's Tiger Awards, and been selected by Busan, Tribeca, Tokyo, Edinburgh, etc.
In New York, Kate worked as a writer, producer, and actor. Highlights included a critically praised lead performance in A History of Launching Ships for Polybe + Seats, and acting in a new translation of Václav Havel's The Increased Difficulty of Concentration at the Ohio Theatre. She was on a house sketch-comedy team at the People's Improv Theater, one of New York's major comedy theaters, and produced and improvised real-time Golden Girls episodes in a popular, long-running live show.
