Britney Spears has worked with countless legends, like when she performed “The Way You Make Me Feel” with Michael Jackson. Here’s a look at what Spears thought about the experience and how “The Way You Make Me Feel” impacted pop culture. The song was part of a record-breaking album.
A crowd went wild when Britney Spears sang Michael Jackson’s ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’
In her 2023 memoir The Woman in Me, Spears discussed one of her most iconic moments. “The next night at Madison Square Garden in New York City, just days before September 11, I performed a duet of ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’ with Michael Jackson to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of his solo career,” she wrote. “In my heels, I prowled all over that stage. The audience went crazy. At one point it felt like the whole crowd of 20,000 was singing along with us.

It is an ongoing mystery why so many artists’ biopics, though undoubtedly coming from a place of deep admiration, choose to ignore the very thing that makes their subjects extraordinary — their art — in favor of outlining the less extraordinary (however torrid) circumstances of their private lives and loves. The latest example: the attractive but slight directorial debut of French actress Céline Sallette. Her feature “Niki” is a portrait of pioneering French-American painter, sculptor and illustrator Niki de Saint Phalle, in which the closest we ever get to any of her actual pieces is seeing the back of a canvas or two, as Niki (Charlotte Le Bon), bespeckled with paint splatter that highlights her delicate elf-princess beauty, frowns at her efforts in dissatisfaction. What exactly is she looking at? Unless you’re already intimately acquainted with every phase of her multivalent career and can navigate the film’s rather haphazard chronology,...

Mark Goddard, known for his role as Major Don West, the fiery pilot of Jupiter 2 in the 1960s CBS adventure series Lost in Space, has passed away at 87. His wife, Evelyn Pezzulich, confirmed his death to The Hollywood Reporter. Goddard was already a regular on the Four Star Television series Johnny Ringo and The Detectives when his agent introduced him to the opportunity to join the new series Lost in Space, created and produced by Irwin Allen. The sci-fi series revolved around the Robinson family, including Professor John Robinson (Guy Williams), his biochemist wife, Maureen (June Lockhart), and their children Judy, Penny, and Will. Major West, along with a stowaway, Dr. Zachary Smith (Jonathan Harris), and a robot, embarked on a space colonization mission that took a wayward turn after their spacecraft was sent off course by ...

‘The Amityville Murders’ – A Ghoulish and Exploitative Look at the DeFeo Murders [The Amityville IP]
Twice a month Joe Lipsett will dissect a new Amityville Horror film to explore how the “franchise” has evolved in increasingly ludicrous directions. This is “The Amityville IP.”
There’s something frustrating about a film that begins with a lot of potential, and then thoroughly squanders it.
Writer/director Daniel Farrands’ The Amityville Murders is one such film. It’s one of the few “true” entries from the last dozen or so films, in that it actually tackles the Amityville story by focusing on the true crime murders of the DeFeo family. It’s well-shot, looks good, has mostly decent (albeit broad) performances.
These are all things that many of the IP cash-grab entries have been lacking.
Unfortunately it’s also incredibly sensational, relies too heavily on repetitive supernatural elements, and – most egregiously – features a distasteful ending that highlights Farrands’ unfortunate tendency to exploit real life tragedy for cash.
If the name sounds familiar,...

The new season of the true-crime series Very Scary People will premiere on Sunday, April 16, 2023 on its new home, Investigation Discovery. Donnie Wahlberg (Blue Bloods) will return as host and executive producer.
“I could not be more excited for a new season of Very Scary People to air on Investigation Discovery,” stated Wahlberg. “With each episode, we bring new insights into the lives of terrifying criminals to create awareness and hope this knowledge helps prevent similar crimes from happening in the future.”
The new season will kick off with “The Trailside Killer” which delves into serial killer David Carpenter. Per Investigation Discovery: “From 1979 to 1981, Carpenter terrorized Northern California’s typically tranquil hiking trails, shocking the quiet community surrounding them with his cold-blooded violence and led local authorities on a twisted and challenging investigation to bring him to justice.”

If you think the price of early-access premium VOD movies from major studios is steep, this will make your eyes roll.
For the launch of “18 & Over,” an indie horror film starring, produced by and co-created by Ashley Benson (“Pretty Little Liars”), the producers are granting an exclusive two-month streaming window to fans who buy one of 10,000 limited-edition NFTs with character art based on the movie.
The price of entry? The NFTs will go on sale for 263 each on Aug 5 — which, if they all sell out, would work out to a 2.63 million total haul. Then, starting Aug. 12, each Nft owner will be able to watch the “collector’s cut” of the film for a two-month period via a private link.
To be fair, producers Hercules Film Fund and Rhea Films say that “long-term holders” of the NFTs will receive perks in addition to early-access streaming, including exclusive access to...

Through an underground online network of similarly displaced individuals, two people agree to “trade” by emptying their bank accounts, selling everything they own and putting the cash in nondescript green bags. They then travel to a remote location, dig a grave and fight to the death. Winner buries the loser and takes the two bags.
Then you find someone else and do it again, and again, and again, until you are rich enough or dead, whichever comes first. Like Vernon, Harry Fox (Killian Scott, Calvary, Love/Hate) has lost his job and his dignity. What else has he got to lose? Why not become a Trader? But when Trading becomes an alarmingly popular underground phenomenon, Vernon becomes a participant in the very game he created. Featuring an exciting young cast and sure to appeal to fans of such classics as Shallow Grave and Fight Club, Traders is a daring and troubling look at the depths to which ordinary people can be driven.

Rise of the Black Flame #1 (of 5) Release Details & Cover Art: “Press Release: “Milwaukie, Or— This September, legendary Hellboy creator Mike Mignola,iZOMBIE co-creator Chris Roberson, Criminal Macabre and 30 Days of Night artist Christopher Mitten, award winning colorist Dave Stewart and cover artist Laurence Campbell will present Rise Of The Black Flame. This five issue miniseries from Dark Horse Comics will present a dark horror story about an ancient, evil power. In Rise Of The Black Flame, young girls are going missing from the cities of Siam, and the trail leads to the jungle hideout of a bloodthirsty cult– the Cult of the Black Flame.
“There have been several villains in Hellboy’s world who’ve been called the Black Flame, and the striking visual of a skeleton burning with dark flames is pretty hard to beat,” said co-writer Chris Roberson. “In Rise Of The Black Flame, we reveal that before there was a man called the Black Flame, there was an ancient cult hidden deep in the jungles of Southeast Asia known by that name. We plumb the depths of cruelty and ruthlessness that groups of people are capable of reaching, and explore how this cult which reaches back to prehistoric times is connected to the most dangerous villain in the history of the Hellboy books.”
“After all these years it’s still so exciting to find new corners (or in this case a giant shadowy, uncharted abyss of horror) of the Hellboy world left to explore,” said Mike Mignola.
In addition to Rise Of The Black Flame, Roberson and Mignola will be co-writing Hellboy & The Bprd: 1954 and Witchfinder: City Of The Dead. Rise Of The Black Flame will mark the Mignolaverse debut of artist Christopher Mitten.
“It is tremendous fun–and a little surreal–to be given the chance to dive into this fantastic universe,” said Christopher Mitten. “Mike and Chris (with whom I’ve long wanted to work) have concocted a fantastic story, and then there’s Dave Stewart…I mean, Knowing Dave would be coloring and then actually Seeing his artistry in action are two wholly different things. Getting a chance to dip my toe into this expansive world has made me want to dig in and explore more of it, to go off into little corners and find what strangeness, what beauty, lurks there.”

Considering all of the posthumous releases that are primed to grant audiences one last glimpse of an actor or actress who left this life too soon, Brittany Murphy’s name comes as a startling inclusion given it’s the year 2015. After passing away on December 20, 2009, her last role will come some six years later as a child psychologist in Darin Scott’s psychological thriller Something Wicked. Why do I mention this fact? Only because of the disturbing pull quote on the front of the DVD sleeve for Something Wicked – “Brittany Murphy’s Final Movie.” Am I the only one who takes issue with such a blatant exploitation of the actress’ unfortunate passing?
But this isn’t an editorial on the morality of marketing material. My only job here is to review a film that comes across as a tonally ambiguous psycho-thriller that blends the blinding qualities of love with the unpredictable state of mental illness.

"There are daggers in men's smiles." With its macabre ending and high body count, William Shakespeare's Macbeth is far from a happy play, so it can be considered a bad omen to find one of its quotes written in the condensation on your car's windshield. But unfortunately for Christine, that's exactly what she discovers one frantic night in Something Wicked, a horror film that hits DVD on March 17th from Arc Entertainment and features a cast that includes Brittany Murphy in her final film performance. We've been provided with an exclusive clip from Something Wicked in which a night swim turns sinister.

• Brittany Murphy: obituary
The late Brittany Murphy's final movie is to debut on the big screen more than four years after filming was completed, according to the New York Daily News.
Something Wicked's writer and producer, Joe Colleran, said the low-budget thriller would screen in Eugene, Oregon, near to locations where it was shot in 2009, on 4 April. He said editors had taken special care to present Murphy's final performance to filmgoers in the best format possible.

"The first months of reviewing the footage and starting to put things together and then seeing her and hearing her voice, it's very emotional. It has been an extremely protracted process,...
