Memento International has boarded “Falcon Lake,” the feature debut of Quebec-born artist and actor Charlotte Le Bon which will world premiere at Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight.

Penned by Le Bon, François Choquet and Karim Boucherka, “Falcon Lake” is adapted from Bastien Vivès’s graphic novel “A Sister.” The story follows Bastien, a 13-year old boy who moves with his family from Paris to a lakeside chalet in Quebec where he bonds in an unexpected way with Chloé, 16.

Joseph Engel and Sara Montpetit (“Maria Chapdelaine”) star in the film alongside Monia Chokri (“A Brother’s Love”), Arthur Igual, Karine Gonthier-Hyndman, Thomas Laperrière, Anthony Therrien, Pierre-Luc Lafontaine and Jeff Roop.

Recently Michael Ryan joined the Sound On Sight team, helping us out with our Fantasia Film Festival coverage, and well he has been pretty much a blessing. What people don’t know is that Michael is also the is the Festival Director for the YoungCuts Film Festival. The fest is celebrating its 10th anniversary with the announcement of 2011’s Top 100 short films by the world’s best young filmmakers 25 and under. Oasis HD will present the films at Montreal’s Guzzo Spheretech theatres from Friday, September 30th to Sunday, October 2nd.

While no trailer of the third season of La galère has been released online, Radio-Canada, a French Canadian TV network, did release the promo poster for the show. Moreover, the third season of this comedy series created by Renée-Claude Brazeau will premiere on September 20 at 9 Pm.

In La galère, we follow four women - Stéphanie (Hélène Florent), Mimi (Brigitte Lafleur), Claude (Anne Casabonne) and Isabelle (Geneviève Rochette) - who move into a big house with their seven children. Each of these women want to take a break from their respective husband or boyfriend (or three ex-husbands in the case of Stephanie).

While Radio-Canada hasn't revealed any details about the third season's script, here's what we should remember from the second season:

* Isabelle divorced from her husband, Jacques (Jeff Boudreault). Since Jacques is Quebec's Labour minister, Isabelle intends to compete as an independent candidate against Jacques in the same riding during the upcoming provincial election.

Speaking about the clip, we're seeing Isabelle practising her speeches. As a matter of fact, it was revealed in the second season that she intends to compete against her husband, Jacques (Jeff Boudreault), during the upcoming election in Quebec.

Yesterday, Alliance Vivafilm, a DVD distributor, announced the date of the release of La galère's second season on DVD. This show, which was created by Renée-Claude Brazeau, is a comedy and it aired on Radio-Canada. Moreover, Radio-Canada didn't announce if it will renew the show for a third season.

The story:

In the first season, Stéphanie (Hélène Florent), Mimi (Brigitte Lafleur), Claude (Anne Casabonne) and Isabelle (Geneviève Rochette) move together in a big house with their seven children in order to evacuate their frustration. In the second season, the four women must deal with the absence of a nanny for their children. Of course, Isabelle can take things into her hands, but her career as a lawyer makes it hard for her (and by extension all single mothers who are lawyers).
