Born and raised in Kolkata, Saibal Mukherjee has been involved in numerous theater productions as a writer and director since his early days. He later achieved success in Mumbai, where he directed ad films, documentaries, corporate films, and short films. He made his directorial debut in feature films with "Kurban", a Bengali-language film that explores a story of humanity and also addresses the complex social and political climate of the time.
