Jasmine Gordon a.k.a Jazzy began her career in the entertainment industry as an assistant to the renowned music video director, Hype Williams. This early experience provided a solid foundation and sparked a passion for the art of visual storytelling.
Transitioning to a role at Technicolor, Jasmine Gordon delved into the intricacies of color correction, post-production processes, and honed their skills in editing. She quickly adapted to the digital landscape, becoming proficient in digitizing and encoding techniques.
In 2010, Jasmine Gordon experienced a significant personal milestone as she fell in love, and started a family. However, life took a somber turn with the passing of the love of her life to cancer, prompting a hiatus from the industry.
Returning to her creative roots in 2018, Jasmine Gordon embraced a new goal of becoming an production assistant. A referral from Prentice Penny led her to work on a non-union short film as a 2nd 2nd Assistant Director, which went on to win the prestigious award for Outstanding Comedic Actress at the 2021 Micheaux Film Festival.
Building on this success, Jasmine continued to excel in her career, winning the Best Short Film award as the 1st Assistant Director for "If These Locs Could Talk" at both the Micheaux Film Festival the Detroit Black Film Festival and Taff Festival in 2022.
With a steadfast commitment to collaboration and a positive work ethic, Jasmine aims to continue working with talented individuals while supporting projects in an efficient and impactful manner. As she is near the end of her tenure as a production assistant and move towards her goal of becoming a union assistant director, Jasmine believes that true leadership stems from serving others and fostering a creative environment for all involved in the filmmaking process.
