The audiences of the courtroom drama ‘Raisinghani vs Raisinghani’ have witnessed how tension between Anushka (Jennifer Winget) and Virat (Karan Wahi) is escalating to a breaking point.

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who is seen playing the character of Pramod Ahlawat in the crime drama ‘Haddi’, opened up on how he felt to be the poster boy of the movie, and talked about the preparations that went into the role.

Directed by Akshat Ajay Sharma, the film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Anurag and Zeeshan Ayyub in the lead.

Nawaz plays the character of Haddi/Harika, while Zeeshan is seen as Irfan.

On how he felt to be the poster boy of the movie?

Mumbai, Sep 9 (Ians) Akshat Ajay Sharma, the director of the recently released film ‘Haddi’, has shared that the film is a statement of his team’s commitment for providing a platform to voices of the transgender community.

The film explores the dark and complex world of transgender individuals who become entangled in Delhi’s criminal underworld. For the film, over 100 transgender individuals were roped in.

Talking about the same, Akshat said that the inclusion of more than 100 transgender individuals in the making of ‘Haddi’ was a conscious choice to enhance authentic storytelling.

The director said: “Each of these remarkable individuals brought different perspectives of their life and experiences/struggles that they have faced in real life which helped us portray the Kinner Community in the most profound ways. Haddi is not just a film, it’s a statement of our commitment to celebrating diversity and providing a platform for voices that have long been marginalised.

Haddi begins with a saree-clad Nawazuddin Siddique sharpening a blade and delivering dialogue in his unique ominous tone. Thus begins the journey of this film. Where else have we seen Nawazuddin being used to start a movie or a film with a voiceover? Yes, Sacred Games was that show, where Nawaz’s character, Ganesh Gaitonde, brought terror to our screens. Haddi is based in a similar universe, where gruesome violence is commonplace, and brutality is just a word. The only reality is power and money. Somewhere, Akshat Ajay Sharma, the director of the film, managed to introduce themes revolving around the lives of sexual minorities in the story.
