The holiday season is here! And while visions of sugar plums are dancing in our heads, so are flashes of flight delays and long hours on the tarmac.
Air travel is often a hassle, especially during the holidays, and unfortunately, adding a pet to the mix often makes it more difficult. But fear not: “The Points Guy” Brian Kelly is here with advice to help you and Fido make it to where you need to go this winter as smoothly as possible.
Of course, Kelly has experience jetting across the world, but what does he know about pet travel? A lot!

The family of Chicago author Amy Krouse Rosenthal — whose essay titled “You May Want to Marry My Husband” touched millions of readers — has found the perfect way to honor the beloved wife and mother who died on March 13 following a battle with ovarian cancer.
Amy’s husband of 26 years, Jason Rosenthal, and the couple’s three children — Justin, 24, Miles, 22, and Paris, 20— have started a nonprofit organization in Amy’s name — and they’re making the announcement just ahead of what would have been her 52nd birthday.

Ten years ago, Sterling K. Brown and Brian Tyree Henry met while working on the Tarell Alvin McCraney play “Wig Out” at the Sundance Theater Lab.
Both actors were playing drag queens, and one day, Henry – who was sporting a thick beard at the time – asked Brown to help shave his face.
“He did it,” Henry recalled. “He went and got clippers, and we’ve been best friends ever since. Once you shave a guy’s face, man, you’re best friends after that.”
Cut to 2016, and after years paying dues on stage and in small roles, Brown and Henry both coincidentally had the breakthrough year of their careers.
Brown, of course, won an Emmy portraying Christopher Darden on FX’s “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story,” and now stars in the fall’s new hit NBC series “This Is Us.” (He also just landed a role in “Marvel’s Black Panther.

Whether you’re a Groundlings vet or Los Angeles’ next great improvisation artist, mark your calendars: the Hollywood Improv Festival comes to the City of Angels Sept. 18–20. Unlike Phoenix, San Francisco, and several other cities with thriving comedy scenes, L.A. seldom gathers its diverse communities to celebrate the art of improv. The Hif, organized by the Middle Theatre Company and partnered with the National Improv Network, seeks to change that. Come September they’ll bring together top talent from across the country for a weekend of fun performances, as well as panels led by improv experts at the likes of Second City La, The Nerdist School, The Miles Stroth Workshop, and Westside Comedy. The panels and shows will take place at the Hudson Mainstage Theatre, while several expert-led training workshops will also be held at Now Improv. Prizes will be handed out throughout the festival, including tickets, various classes,...

Shatner, Nimoy, Dunaway, Johnny Cash and more. We take a look at some of TV detective show Columbo’s killer cameos...
Schlubby working class hero, Crime And Punishment’s Porfiry Petrovich for primetime, fatherly fighter of crime... I was introduced to the rumple-coated and rumple-faced one back in 1987, following an off-hand attempt from my mother to get five-year-old me to sit down and shut up for a few minutes. Desperately looking for something to grab my attention, and zeroing in on what ITV happened to be repeating that Sunday, her “Oh, look! Columbo! You like him, don’t you?” – “Huh?” – “He’s the one with the cigar and coat, you know him!” got me to sit down, be quiet, and puzzle over whether or not I did like him. She turned out to be right – I liked him a lot.
By then in the late 80s, Lieutenant Columbo had been...

What happens when a dedicated Game Master feels threatened by a newcomer to his realm? As they used to say on "The Real World," people stop being polite and start getting real.
In "Zero Charisma," Scott (Sam Eidson) invites a new guy to join his beloved role-playing group, but Miles (Garrett Graham) begins to steal his thunder. He's funny and charming, and he brings beer to their gatherings. He even invites them to a party -- with babes! Naturally, Scott's fellow dungeon-lovers begin to change their allegiance, which pushes this metal-lovin' gamer closer and closer to the edge.
Chris Hardwick's Nerdist Industries produced the film, which gives it some serious nerd street cred. "Zero Charisma," which was directed by Katie Graham and co-writer Andrew Matthews, got rave reviews at SXSW. It's being promoted as "an ode to nerds from every realm," although sci-fi site io9 questions whether the film...
