Sutanu is an acclaimed filmmaker hailing from India with a diverse and accomplished body of work in short films, documentaries, TV commercials, and corporate films.
Beginning his artistic journey in Kolkata as a street photographer at the age of 16, Sutanu's passion for storytelling led him to pursue a formal education in Journalism and Mass Communication in Delhi. During these years, he created many compelling photo stories. His photographs were selected in various competitions, and his work was featured in multiple art galleries around the nation, further fueling his artistic drive.
Drawing on his experience as a travel photographer for renowned magazines and adventure sports companies, Sutanu developed a unique perspective on the world, which he later channeled into his craft as a filmmaker. After graduation, Sutanu embarked on a journey of exploration for 2 years, With a diverse background and an unyielding passion for storytelling, Sutanu pursued various jobs, which allowed him to travel to new cities, meet new people, and learn their stories. Eventually, he found his true calling in cinematography and began utilizing the camera as a powerful storytelling tool, transitioning from still photography to filmmaking. During that time as both a writer and cinematographer, he has created a range of compelling documentaries and corporate films across the nation.
With a desire to enhance his knowledge and technical proficiency of the medium, Sutanu enrolled in a prestigious film school in Northern India, where he honed his craft, further refining his understanding of the art and its history.
Sutanu's dedication paid off as he transitioned into narrative works. During his post-grad time, Sutanu collaborated with a few like-minded storytellers from film school, With a focus on narrative storytelling, he wrote and shot an array of compelling and evocative short films that started captivating audiences. His impressive body of work is characterized by his unique vision and artistic flair, which have earned him recognition at various international film festivals, giving him a strong boost of morale.
After Post Grad, he is now working as an independent Director of Photography shooting mostly commercials, Documentaries, and Corporate Films, which again allowed him to travel to new cities, meet new people, and learn their stories.
As a cinematographer, Sutanu has worked with many talented directors, and he is always on the lookout for new opportunities in the film industry, to learn, practice and improve his craft. His dedication to his art and his unwavering passion for storytelling continue to inspire audiences, establishing him as one of India's most promising young filmmakers.
