April Martucci was born in Rockville Centre, a suburb of New York City. She is of Italian, Estonian and Dutch descent. April spent her childhood on Long Island, and then traveled extensively at a young age all over the world. She lived for a period of time in London, Prague and Berlin before making the Upper West Side of Manhattan her home.
Martucci graduated from the State University of New York, Purchase College. After living abroad, she returned to NYC where she was blessed to find her theater family at Herbert Berghof studio. At HB, she studied with NYC's best teachers, including the renowned Uta Hagan and Austin Pendleton. She later went on to perform in their showcases; her role as the Queen in "The Abdication" by Ruth Wolff was her most celebrated role. It was playing the 'dark side' of Swedish, Queen Christina's psyche that appealed to her the most.
As a young child, April did print modeling. Her agent at that time encouraged her parents to change her last name. Martucci, the agent said, was 'too ethnic". While at Oceanside High School, NY, she scheduled her classes to end at 1pm so she could travel to the West Village, NYC, and take classes at the Joffrey Ballet School where she later went on to perform with the company. Her high school friends remember her sowing her pointe shows in the cafeteria while everyone else was partying, being typical teenagers. Later, she traveled to Havana, Cuba to study Afro-Cuban dance and salsa and she traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina for Argentine tango intensives. While at Purchase, Martucci fell in love with the ancient practice of Yoga. She later went on to develop her own yoga method, FireDragonYoga(TM)- a method that eventually got her the "most in demand" title by NY Magazine's renowned yearly 'Best of NY issue'.
Martucci describes herself as an introvert, but she also says she has a lot of common sense and street smarts which she attributes to living in NYC for most of her life, and from her travels around the world. She is currently learning to box with pro-fighter/coach Wale Omotoso at Churchill Boxing Club in Los Angeles.
