Netflix has announced that “It Ends With Us,” the Colleen Hoover movie adaptation starring Blake Lively, will begin streaming on Netflix in the U.S. on Dec. 9. The film had its theatrical release Aug. 9 and went on to exceed industry expectations and gross over $350 million worldwide, becoming one of the year’s biggest commercial hits.

Directed by co-star Justin Baldoni, “It Ends With Us” follows Lily Bloom (Lively) and Ryle Kincaid (Baldoni) as they pursue a romantic relationship. However, Lily soon starts to recognize shades of her parents’ relationship, leading her to wonder if she’s falling into the same cycle of abuse and domestic violence. Things become even more complicated when Lily’s first boyfriend, Atlas (Brandon Sklenar), re-enters the picture.

Brandon Sklenar came to the defense of It Ends With Us and his co-stars in the film amidst a flurry of rumors about behind-the-scenes conflict and criticism over how a movie about domestic abuse was marketed.

Justin Baldoni, director and star of the new romantic drama It Ends With Us, has enlisted crisis public relations expert Melissa Nathan amid growing speculation about cast tensions during the film’s promotional tour.

Baldoni, 40, has hired Nathan, who heads The Agency Group and has previously managed PR for high-profile clients including Drake and Johnny Depp. The move comes as industry insiders and fans alike have noted Baldoni’s conspicuous absence from joint press appearances and red carpet events with his co-stars.

Review: It’s always a tough job adapting any book into a feature-length film. Most book narratives aren’t structured in the same way a movie is, so the pacing can sometimes suffer. Scenes that may break the flow of the film, may be considered vital to book fans. I have no prior experience with Colleen Hoover’s novel, but I understand its popularity. It Ends With Us is as much about romance as it is about stewing in trauma. And because of this desire to be a rom-com at points, the deeper message is lost in the process.

Her website overflows with merch, from signed books to heart necklaces and pendants embossed with romance novel tropes “enemies to lovers” or “small town romance” or “main character energy.”

The film stars Blake Lively as Lily, Justin Baldoni as Ryle and Brandon Sklenar as Atlas, with Baldoni directing. Jenny Slate and Hasan Minhaj are also starring.

Sony Pictures is releasing the film theatrically on June 21, 2024, with Alex Saks producing for Saks Picture Company along with Jamey Heath on behalf of Wayfarer.

Executive producers are Steve Sarowitz, Andrew Calof and Baldoni on behalf of Wayfarer Studios, which is also co-financing, along with Lively, Hoover and Andrea Ajemian. Christy Hall has penned the current screenplay and is also producing.
