It takes many people to fill Richard Osman’s shoes, and not just because he wears a size 14. Back in April 2021, the TV presenter, producer and novelist announced that he was leaving his co-presenter role on Pointless to focus on his hugely successful Thursday Murder Club book series and other projects. Due to the ‘stars we see in the night sky are actually hundreds of years in the past’ nature of TV broadcast, by that point, Osman was already four months out of the job. His final episode of the regular Pointless (he’ll still appear on the celebrity editions) was filmed in December 2021 and aired in July 2022, with this touching message to Alexander Armstrong.
When Pointless returned for Series 28 in September 2022, it came with a rotating clutch of new guest-hosts sitting behind Osman’s fact-checking desk. First up was Sally Lindsay, and following her were Stephen Mangan, Lauren Laverne,...

The March 20 episode of “The Voice” was the second of four devoted to the battle round of the competition. Each of the four coaches — rookie Kelly Clarkson, the returning Alicia Keys and veterans Adam Levine and Blake Shelton — must pit pairs of their artists against each other in sing-offs. One from each duet will move on to the knockout round while the other is up for grabs. Each coach has two such steals, which means that 32 of the 48 artists will make it through these battles.
While Monday’s show had run for two hours, the March 20 episode was only an hour long. That meant that we only saw three of the six sing-offs in full. Not surprisingly, when we asked which of the battles was best, the three that were little seen ranked at the bottom of the poll results. The three that were screened in full all merited about...

‘The Voice’: Which of the three battles that didn’t air on March 20 did you most want to see? [Poll]
One of the most compelling components of “The Voice” is the battle round in which coaches have to select two of their artists to sing the same song and choose one of them to take on to the knockout round. Each of the four coaches — Kelly Clarkson, Alicia Keys, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton — can throw two losers of other battles lifelines and take them on-board their team.
While we saw all six battles in full on Monday’s episode of “The Voice,” Tuesday’s show short-changed viewers by denying them the chance to see three of these match-ups. We didn’t get to watch the performances that won over the coaches. Sure, none of the artists who went down to defeat were stolen by any of the other coaches. But it would have been fun to see the whole song, hear the critiques of the coaches in full and judge for ourselves.

The second episode of “The Voice” devoted to the make-or-break battle round shortchanged viewers by only showing three of the six duets in full. While Monday’s show had run for two hours, the March 20 episode was only an hour long. That meant that we only saw three of the six battles in full.
As with the first night, the four coaches — Kelly Clarkson, Alicia Keys, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton — paired up two of the 12 artists on their teams to do a duet. The winner of each of these battles goes through to the knockout round. Each coach can steal two of the 18 losers from the battles overseen by the other coaches.
The coaches were offered advise during rehearsals by four hit-makers: Clarkson had Hailee Steinfeld, by her side, Keys was counseled by Shawn Mendes, Levine turned to Julie Michaels, and Shelton brought in Trace Adkins.

Strictly Come Dancing pro Brendan Cole has admitted that he "wasn't hopeful" when he was paired with Kirsty Gallacher.
Gallacher was voted out of the show at the weekend after making a mistake during her Charleston, but Cole explained that she had come a long way.
"When we started, I was not hopeful because she hadn't danced - she was stiff and I think scared of it," he said on Strictly: It Takes Two. "But once we turned the corner of some of the fear starting to disappear, she started to come through and started to become a dancer and that's exciting. That's as good as somebody like Jay getting a 10 on that week.
"The step from here to here is fantastic and I was really proud of that, and [in the American smooth during Movie Week], in the training room in particular, there was a smoothness. She's softening up! It wasn't quite there for the show but there were signs,...

Strictly Come Dancing star Brendan Cole won't be quitting the show any time soon.
The professional dancer has been on the BBC One dancing programme since the very first year in 2004, but told Ok! magazine that he's still enjoying the experience.
"It's been a big chunk of my life, but it really doesn't feel like that long ago that it all started," he said.
"I love doing the show. I couldn't imagine my life without it now."
His wife Zoe then quipped: "Brendan will be there until they push him out of the door!"
Brendan also praised his celebrity partner Kirsty Gallacher, after rumours surfaced that the pair didn't get along due to Gallacher's busy schedule.
They were eliminated over the weekend, losing in the dance-off against Jamelia and Tristan MacManus, but Brendan only had positive words to say about her.

Strictly Come Dancing had another classic Halloween episode this weekend, but of course it was scarier for some of the celebrities than others. But who looks like they might be out of the running and who is creeping closer to that Glitter Ball trophy?
Out of the running: Kirsty Gallacher
Well, this seems particularly cruel. Kirsty had finally started to turn things around last week and was creeping up our rankings… but then her Halloween Charleston went horribly wrong with slips and mistakes and she picked up her lowest score of the series before becoming the first woman to be booted out (she joins the series' other eliminees Iwan Thomas, Anthony Ogogo, Daniel O'Donnell and Ainsley Harriott). Bad luck, Kirsty.
10. Jamelia (⬇3)
It doesn't seem quite fair to have Jamelia at the bottom of the rankings. She's far from the worst dancer in the competition and she's been improving, too, but...

Kirsty Gallacher and her professional partner Brendan Cole have become the fifth couple to be eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing.
The pair found themselves in the dance-off against Jamelia and Tristan MacManus, after the judges' scores were combined with the viewers' votes.
Strictly Come Dancing Week Six: All the scores and judges' comments
Gallacher and Cole performed their Charleston to Postmodern Jukebox's version of 'Bad Romance', while Jamelia and MacManus jived to The Rocky Horror Picture Show's 'The Time Warp'.
Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell and Bruno Tonioli all voted to save Jamelia and MacManus, sending Gallacher and Cole home.
Head judge Len Goodman said he agreed with his fellow judges' decision.
It marked the first time that a female celebrity has been eliminated from this year's show, following four successive male exits.
Jamelia found herself in the dance-off for the second consecutive week and for the third time this series.

It's Halloween week on Strictly Come Dancing, with scary make-up and spooky props aplenty.

1. Katie Derham & Anton Du Beke dancing the paso doble to 'Phantom of the Opera' by Steve Harley and Sarah Brightman: 4+6+6+5=21
Len: "The problem is you're like an English rose and the paso is a cactus, sharp aggressive and spiky. It doesn't really suit your personality. I got the willies at one time when I thought you would use the wrong foot. It wasn't great, Kate - I wish it was."
Darcey: "You look the part – absolutely stunning. To help strengthen your performance use those beautiful eyes.

Kirsty Gallacher has been voted off 'Strictly Come Dancing'. The 39-year-old television presenter and her partner Brendan Cole were booted off the show after the pair lost out to rivals Jamelia and Tristan MacManus in the dance off tonight (01.11.15). Speaking after her exit, she said: ''It's a wonderful experience but Jamelia deserves it far more than me. I did my best but it was my time to go. Strictly Come Dancing pro Tristan MacManus has defended the illegal lift in his foxtrot with Jamelia at the weekend.
As Jamelia admitted on Strictly: It Takes Two that she had no idea there was an illegal lift in the dance until Craig Revel Horwood complained about it, MacManus suggested it didn't even count as a rule break.
"A lift is something you can't do on your own," he said. "That was an assisted move. She jumped a little bit, that's grand. I'm not going to lie, it's a very slow song, wasn't the biggest fan of it, so I needed something to happen. I needed something to happen in the middle of it. Strictly Come Dancing star Kirsty Gallacher has revealed that she is ready to come out fighting after nearly going home last week.
Kirsty and her professional partner Brendan Cole ended up in the bottom two with Daniel O'Donnell after their paso doble but explained that the disappointment has caused her to come out fighting.
"I feel reinvigorated," she told Mail Online. "I think Jamelia and I were both very similar in that she didn't have a lot of confidence before the dance-off either.
"I need to attack it more - I don't want to go home yet. I was really determined to stay in before the dance-off this week, but now I feel even more so, mainly for my family. They're watching me every weekend."
Kirsty - who split from her husband Paul Sampson this summer - added: "I've been taking the judges' comments on board this week and working on my hands and shaping.

Strictly Come Dancing''s Katie Derham topped the leaderboard last weekend with her graceful Vienesse Waltz with professional dance partner Anton du Beke.

Len: "I thought that routine had far more content than previous weeks. I love the way you come out and enjoy yourself, and it made me enjoy it. A lovely bubbly dance."
2. Anthony Ogogo & Oti Mabuse dancing the Paso Doble to 'Eye of the Tiger' from Rocky: 4+6+5+4=19
Darcey: "It's your best dance so far, you have this energy – in your body, when you pose,...

Strictly Come Dancing is doing a lot of good for the dance world, choreographer Matthew Bourne has claimed.
Speaking at the Cheltenham Literature Festival, Bourne questioned whether dancers should be "snobby" towards the BBC One show, considering how it has helped turn everyone into "critics".
"I love it!" he said (via Radio Times). "I seriously appreciate what Strictly's done for dance.
"The dance world can be a bit snobby about things as we know, and Strictly's maybe one of them. What Strictly's done is make everyone into critics to a certain extent, because we all look and analyse the dances.
"But in a good way, because also what it does do is when someone is praised, we understand why this was better than last week, what they've gained."
Bourne has worked on productions including Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake.
