María Elena Salinas was born in 1954 in Los Angeles, California, USA. She is a producer and writer, known for Noticiero Univisión (1981), Aquí y ahora (2001) and La Amenaza Irani (2011). She was previously married to Eliott Rodriguez.

She had two daughters with her ex-husband <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0735298/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Eliott Rodriguez</a>, Julia Alexandra and Gabriela Maria.

Inducted into the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Broadcasting Hall of Fame in 2017.
