Infrared begins with footage, shot for the never aired show of the same name, of Wes performing a rather dull-looking exorcism. Then, in footage we’re told came from one of two cameras found in a school prior to its demolition we see Jane exploring the Lincoln School in Sacramento and discovering she’s not alone.

Footage from the second camera shows Randy (Randy Nundlall Jr.) interviewing a medium Izzy who happens to be Wes’s estranged sister. Infrared actually goes on like this for a while, as next Randy and Wes prepare to perform a spiritual cleansing on an apartment. After that ends up not happening they drive past the Lincoln School and the film finally, at the twenty-five-minute mark, starts getting down to what we came to see.

The most harrowing and terrifying horror films feature relatable characters and engaging storylines that offer an emotional investment for viewers, no matter how otherworldly the plot details ultimately prove to be. Feature directorial debut by Manuel Crosby and Darren Knapp premiered at Sundance in January.

Ryan Kampe’s Visit Films has licensed a raft of territories on action comedy First Date following its Sundance London screening led by a deal with 101 Films in the UK and Ireland and Telefonica in Spain.

Rights to the feature debut of writing and directing duo Manuel Crosby and Darren Knapp have also gone to New People New Film Company in Cis and Penny Black for airlines.

First Date premiered at Sundance at the start of the year and was recently released in North America by Magnet Releasing.

It premiered at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival this year, and stopped by the Independent Film Festival of Boston this spring. After being conned into buying a shady '65 Chrysler, Mike's first date plans with girl-next-door Kelsey implode as he finds himself targeted by criminals, the cops, and a crazy cat lady. Sundance Film Festival: London has revealed that “Zola” and “Coda” will be among the 2021 lineup, when the festival returns to Picturehouse Central next month.

“Coda” — an acronym meaning “Child of Deaf Adults” — features Marlee Matlin (“The West Wing”) and 19-year-old Emilia Jones (“Locke & Key”) navigating their relationship, while “Zola” is based on a 148-tweet viral Twitter thread from 2015 by Aziah “Zola” Wells. It stars Taylor Paige (“Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”) and Riley Keough (“Max Max: Fury Road”) and will close the 4-day festival.

Edgar Wright’s rockumentary “The Sparks Brothers,” described as a “musical odyssey,” opens the festival on July 29.

“First Date,” an action comedy that premiered at this year’s Sundance in the film festival’s Next session, has been picked up by Magnet Releasing, the genre arm of Magnolia Pictures.

“First Date” is the feature debut of writers and directors Manuel Crosby and Darren Knapp and stars breakout Tyson Brown, and Magnet is planning to release the film later this year.

The film is about a shy teen whose eagerly anticipated first date with his longtime crush and girl-next-door is interrupted by a relentless series of mishaps and crimes, including being targeted by criminals, cops and a crazy cat lady.

Time to add some giant beastie action to your Monday as two new trailers and a new one-sheet have arrived for the remake of the '50s film The Giant Gila Monster known simply as Gila! Check 'em out.

The flick, directed by Jim Wynorski, features the star of the original film, Don Sullivan, who with this project is making his return to acting after a 50-year absence. He stars alongside Brian J. Gross, Terence Knox, Madeline Voges, Jesse Janzen, Christina DeRosa, Rich Komenich, Kelli Maroney, Gerard Pauwels, Ellen Kingston, Jenna Ruiz and James Wolford Hardin.
