Shannon Rodríguez Sweeney

Shannon Rodríguez, also known by her stage name Novia, is an Queer Indigenous musician and filmmaker born and raised on Tongva Land. Shannon channels the love of her cultures into her artistic projects, taking inspiration from her elders and from her own experiences growing up away from her ancestral lands. Shannon hopes to use her influence to bring awareness to Indigenous, Black and Queer issues, as well as to promote grassroots organizations and BIPOC small businesses. Her other passions include the Land Back movement, mental health advocacy and intersectional history.

Last year Shannon walked for Korina Emmerich at the SWAIA Centennial Fashion Show, and has worked on the post production teams for TV shows such as Reservation Dogs and Atlanta. This year, she is focused on writing her debut album.
