- From 1977 into the 1990s the western music group performed as a trio, consisting of lead singer/guitarist/yodeler Ranger Doug (played by Douglas B. Green), singer/fiddler/trick roper Woody Paul (played by Paul Chrisman), and singer/bassist Too Slim (played by Fred LaBour). In the 1990s the group added accordionist Joey the Cowpolka King (played by Joey Miskulin) to their line-up and have remained a quartet ever since.
- The group is usually introduced to the audience as "Ranger Doug, the Idol of American Youth", "Woody Paul, the King of the Cowboy Fiddlers", "Too Slim, the Man of a Thousand Hats" and "Joey, the Cowpolka King".
