Lacey Chabert has been dubbed the new “Queen of Hallmark” after most of the network’s big name actresses jumped ship and joined Great American Family. So far Lacey Chabert has been loyal without a fault to Hallmark, but is that about to change? Keep reading for all the details!
Is Lacey Chabert Leaving Hallmark
Hallmark Channel stars have been making a steady stream of exits since the network’s competition Great American Family began cranking out their own movies.
Candace Cameron Bure, Danica McKellar and Jen Lilley all left Hallmark and signed contracts with Gaf in the past two years, and those are just a few of the actors that have bailed.
Technically, fans can now watch Lacey Chabert on Great American Family, but there doesn’t seem to be any truth to the rumors that Chabert is signing contracts with Hallmark’s rival (that could always change though...

The CW is moving back into The L.A. Complex: The network is developing a reboot of the showbiz-themed Canadian drama, which aired for two seasons.
According to our sister site Deadline, series creator Martin Gero and Brendan Gall — who got his start on the show as a writer/co-executive producer — will pen the project, which follows a new group of twenty-something tenants living in Hollywood’s Luxe hotel. As the aspiring artists try to make it in the entertainment industry as actors, dancers, producers and comedians, their relationships will rise and fall, and their beliefs and values will be tested.

Six episodes were ordered for the first season and then, before they had aired here in the States, Bell ordered a second season of 13 episodes. According to THR, the ratings for season two were down in Canada so the broadcaster has opted not to order any more.

Hollywood life isn't all it's cracked up to be.
That's the glaring truth a group of young 20-somethings have been quickly discovering on the edgy Canadian drama "The L.A. Complex." Returning for its second season tonight (in Canada at 9 p.m. on MuchMusic), the TV series follows aspiring actress Abby (Cassie Steele), stand-up comedian Nick (Joe Dinicol), handsome Australian actor (Jonathan Patrick Moore), struggling actress Raquel (Jewel Staite), gay hip-hop songwriter Tariq (Benjamin Charles Watson), dancer Alicia (Chelan Simmons) and successful hip-hop artist Kaldrick (Andra Fuller). Naturally, all of them are hoping to make it big in Tinsel Town, but there are more hard knocks than glamour, glitz or red carpets.
On an exceptionally warm Friday afternoon, it's pretty quiet on the Toronto set. There's a brief quarrel between two fresh faces -- Simon (Michael Levinson) and Beth (Dayle McLeod) -- but that's happening behind closed apartment doors. Even...

After a finale that included blood, fire, pregnancy and heartbreak, The L.A. Complex is back.
When we last saw the residents of The Lux, Tariq (Benjamin Charles Watson) had been nearly beaten to death by his in-the-closet rap superstar boyfriend Kaldrick King (Andra Fuller), Abby (Cassie Steele) and Nick (Joe Dinicol) were officially a couple, Raquel (Jewel Staite) learned she was pregnant, Alicia (Chelan Simmons) booked the gig of a lifetime and Connor (Jonathan Patrick Moore) had purposely set his mansion on fire. When the series returns on Tuesday (9/8c, The CW), expect familiar faces to leave, newcomers to move in and immediate resolution to the freshman season's cliff-hangers.

The CW recently cancelled shows like Ringer and The Secret Circle but there hasn't been any word about The CW's La Complex. Has it been cancelled as well or will it be back for season two?

The CW has pretty much struck out this season. Essentially all of their new dramas could be cancelled next month. So, how did their mid-season entry, The La Complex, do last night?
This new TV series revolves around a group of aspiring performers who are pursuing stardom in Los Angeles. It stars a group of actors who, in real life, have already logged time on television -- Jonathan Patrick Moore, Jewel Staite, Joe Dinicol, Cassie Steele, Chelan Simmons, Andra Fuller, and Benjamin Charles Watson.
Premiering in Ringer's former timeslot, The La Complex drew a pitiful 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and just 646,000 viewers. That's horrible. Compared to last week's disappointing finale Ringer, The CW was down by 40% in the demo and and 46% in total viewers. Yikes.

Are you already addicted to 'The L.A. Complex'? Trust me, the insanity has only just begun. Every show on TV professes to feature countless "Wtf" moments, but few are able to squeeze so many into a single hour as effortlessly as The L.A. Complex, which premiered April 24 on The CW. Real talk: When the main character gets an abortion, vomits on a piano and becomes a stripper all in the pilot episode, you're in for an awesome ride. The series premiere introduced viewers to the residents of the Deluxe Suites Motel, a Melrose Place-style complex whose inhabitants are as hot as the scandals they cook up. There's Abby (Cassie Steele), a newbie actress who recently moved from Toronto; Connor (Jonathan Patrick Moore), the star of a new medical drama; Nick (Joe Dinicol), a "comedian" who's as clueless about women as he is about comedy; Alicia (Chelan Simmons...

It was all about shattered dreams on tonight’s premiere of the CW’s La Complex, a soapy Canadian import about a crew of Hollywood wannabes trying to make it big—or just enough to pay rent in their Melrose Place-like apartment building.

Are you a fan of pretty people, Hollywood and gritty teen dramas? If so, then say hello to your new guilty pleasure, "The L.A. Complex." Originally scripted as a spinoff of Canadian staple "Degrassi: The Next Generation," the series follows the lives of several wannabe-famous young actors, dancers, singers and writers living and trying to get by in Los Angeles.

Did you know that originally, "The L.A. Complex" was designed as a spinoff for Cassie Steele's "Degrassi: The Next Generation" character Manny Santos? The actress sat down with Zap2it to talk about her new show, which follows young actress Abby (not Manny) and her fellow Hollywood wannabes living in the same Los Angeles apartment building.
Steele tells Zap2it that the new show ended up being a little racier and a little more mature than her previous gig, where she spent a decade playing the same character. As Abby, she gets to be a little more vulnerable and even a little klutzier as a character.
"Manny and Abby are very different people. I think Manny is very confident and easygoing and loves her friends," she says. "Abby is just so frazzled everywhere, headstrong. She's so much more of a rollercoaster."

"Manny and Abby are very different people. I think Manny is very confident and easygoing and loves her friends," she says. "Abby is just so frazzled everywhere, headstrong. She's so much more of a rollercoaster."

Call it "Melrose Place" meets "Fame" ... meets Canada.
Young showbiz hopefuls from up north make their way to Los Angeles to seek stardom, while occupying neighboring apartments, as The CW gives the seriocomic Canadian series "The L.A. Complex" its American premiere Tuesday, April 24. The initial six stories already have aired in the show's native country, where a 13-episode second season has been ordered.
Some of the ensemble cast will be familiar to U.S. viewers, including Cassie Steele, who worked with the same producers on the youth-oriented "Degrassi" franchise. She now plays Abby, who goes on acting auditions while resisting her boyfriend's pleas to return home. Jewel Staite ("Firefly," "Stargate Atlantis") also stars as Raquel, who's been there and back -- and wants to get there again, to the point of boldly suggesting that a producer change a character's ethnicity to accommodate her.

Chicago – The CW continues to waste the goodwill generated by pop culture hits like “Gossip Girl,” “The Vampire Diaries,” and “Supernatural” with yet another misfire in the worst year in the fledgling network’s history. “The L.A. Complex” makes the trip tonight via Canada and this generic, cliched snooze isn’t bad enough to be entertaining in a B-movie kind of way. It’s just the worst thing TV can be — boring.
TV Rating: 2.0/5.0
Like CBS’s “Flashpoint” and ABC’s “Rookie Blue,” “The L.A. Complex” is another Canadian import, a show that played to reasonable audiences (by Canadian standards) North of the border and now fills one of many holes in the schedule of The CW. To say that we’ve seen this overly familiar soap opera before would be an understatement. It’s yet another saga of beautiful young men and women trying to get their break in the city of angels.

Breaking into Hollywood is no easy task. But that’s just what the aspiring actors, dancers, music producers, and comics of The CW’s Canadian import, The L.A. Complex, (premiering Tuesday at 9/8c) will try to do. Think of it as Fame-meets-Melrose Place with a dash of Degrassi: The Next Generation. Below, star Cassie Steele explains the Complex connections to her previous gig; what makes her wannabe actress, Abby, different; and why mouths will be gaping at the adventures of these Hollywood newbies.

The CW's newest drama, the Canadian soap "The L.A. Complex," follows a group of Hollywood wannabes living in a "Melrose Place"-esque apartment building as they try to make it in Tinseltown. Zap2it spoke with star Jonathan Patrick Moore, who plays on-the-verge-of-stardom Australian actor Connor, who says there's some pretty juicy stuff in store for his character throughout the show's first six episodes.
"I think Connor is a guy who's naturally talented and charismatic, but he's covering up his very deep insecurities," Moore explains. "He's got a troubled past, a broken family, and he's found a way to manage it through women -- he doesn't like to be alone, so if ever those feelings start to come up, he'll go and he'll find someone and he'll smile and make them melt."
He'll soon have plenty more women lining up to console him, considering the medical drama he's on has just been picked up.

Daisy Betts (Harry’s Law) has joined the cast of ABC’s drama pilot Last Resort starring Andre Braugher. The Sony TV-produced project centers on the crew of the U.S.S. They land on the island of Sainte Marina, where they take over the Nato Listening Station and declare themselves an independent nuclear nation. Betts will play a member of the crew, Lt. Grace Shepard, the daughter of an Admiral father who is new to the sub and to command positions. Alona Tal been cast in the CW drama pilot Cult. The project, from Warner Bros. The Savages‘ photo shows Benicio Del Toro blowing smoke into the face of Blake Lively. Since this a film in part concerning marijuana, we can only guess as to the true nature of the smoke.

The CW is looking for a Melrose Place for the summer. The youth-skewing network is in talks to acquire The L.A. Complex, a Canadian soap set to bow next week on music-themed channel MuchMusic from CTV. Created and executive produced by Bored to Death's Martin Gero, the series stars Jonathan Patrick Moore (Neighbours) as Connor, an Australian with a dark past, and Cassie Steele (Degrassi) as Abby, a Toronto girl with dreams of making it Hollywood. The CW is eyeing the six already-produced hourlong episodes of the series and, depending on whether or not CTV extends

Exclusive: As part of new CW president Mark Pedowitz’s promise to keep the network’s lights on during the summer, the CW is nearing a deal to acquire upcoming Canadian soap The L.A. Complex. The network is in final negotiations to buy the 6 already produced episodes of the series, which premieres on specialty channel MuchMusic next week and will later air on sibling broadcaster CTV. It may also pick up 7 more for a 13-episode run. Created by Canadian writer-producer Martin Gero, L.A. Complex has drawn comparisons to the long-running Canadian teen soap Degrassi, which is produced by the same company, Epitome Pictures. In the vein of Melrose Place, which the CW remade a couple of years ago, L.A. Complex revolves around twenty-somethings living in the same La apartment complex as they try to make it in Tinseltown. The series features an international cast: Jonathan Patrick Moore (Neighbours) as Connor,...

Move over, "Melrose Place" -- there's a new, er, place to be.
But unlike the small apartment building in West Hollywood that housed a doctor, a social worker and a bad-boy handyman, the dwellers of The Lux in new MuchMusic series "The L.A. Complex" are more like aspiring actress Sandy and struggling writer Billy.
The new original scripted drama is from the producers of classic teen opus "Degrassi," and centres on a group of people with stars in their eyes as they deal with the "real" reality of showbiz.

While ABC's "20/20" was busy airing a behind-the-scenes look at the real-life Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding plans, Lifetime was airing "William & Kate," the made-for-tv movie starring Nico Evers Swindell and Camilla Luddington as the royal couple.
The first hour was a charming, typical Lifetime movie about two friends at university falling for each other. It was full of cute looks and silly moments working on school projects, culminating with a kiss in (what else?) a rainstorm. How romantic.
The second hour saw William and Kate become a couple, but have to deal with him wanting to keep her private and away from the press, much to Kate's consternation because it left the paparazzi free to speculate about William's love life.
Once they were out of the closet, so to speak, the movie showed how much Kate's life changed once they went public, including an etiquette scene that would've made...

This morning an email appeared in our inbox from Fuzzy Pictures about a new Australian horror comedy entitled Dead Set, which shows what happens when a director refuses to relinquish his dream even as cast and crew drop dead around him.
Dead Set, written and directed by Paul Komadina and starring Jonathan Wood and Mollie King, is described as "a bloody, black comedy [that's] slickly shot and dripping with gore." It will have its world premiere at the European Film Market (Efm) in Berlin, which runs February 11-21, 2010.
Below you'll find some early artwork and a trailer for the film. We're not sure why they chose to change its name from the previously announced The Director's Cut to mimic a very popular British TV show (the original title seems much more applicable), but in any event, visit the official Dead Set website and keep it here for more as it comes.
