CNN will start showing the post-show Overtime segments from HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher as part of its Friday edition of CNN Tonight.

The segments will start this Friday at 11:30 Pm Et.

The Overtime segments have up to now been posted online and promoted to viewers of Real Time. They feature Maher and his guests continuing their discussion on a range of topics and answering viewer questions.

The scheduling of the segments is the latest move by CNN Worldwide chairman and CEO Chris Licht to bolster the network’s primetime and late-night lineup. He has not yet named a permanent show for the 9 Pm Et timeslot, and sources say that one of the ideas considered has been to schedule a non-traditional host, such as a comedian, for that time period. Filmmaker Joe Dante is cherished in the horror community for his wonderful work on films such as Gremlins, The Howling, and The ’Burbs, but perhaps one of his more under-seen (and recent) movies is The Hole. Through their multi-media brand Untold Horror, Dave Alexander and Mark Pollesel are looking to change that by celebrating Dante's 2009 fantasy horror film with a 3D screening at the Tcl Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles on Friday, November 30th, including a Q&A with Dante hosted by fellow filmmaker John Landis.

With a family-friendly return to the kind of filmmaking Amblin did best in the 80s, Joe Dante‘s The Hole earns a strange honor as a horror film. It’s pleasant. A pleasant, scary movie. It builds from a standard coming-of-age tale: the single mom (Teri Polo), teenage son Dane (Chris Massoglia) and younger brother Lucas (Nathan Gamble) move from the big city to the small town complete with the tough transition. That change of pace (at least for Dane) is softened by the cute next-door neighbor Julie (Haley Bennett), but it’s made a bit more difficult by the bottomless hole in their basement that brings their personal fears to life. Some good news is coming in for folks who are looking forward to seeing Joe Dante's latest film, The Hole, up on the big screen where it deserves to be. The flick will be opening early in a few select cities, and we have the details for you right here.

Three years after completion, Joe Dante’s film, The Hole, will finally hit theaters on September 28th. The Hole was shot independently in Vancouver in 3D, and premiered at the Venice, Toronto and AFI Film Festivals in late 2009.

Big Air Studios & Bold Films are finally ready to release The Hole, the new horror from Gremlins director Joe Dante, that has been on hold for three years. I'm a lil' grouchy because we first covered it way back in 2009. We even ran a trailer in May of 2010 for a release that year, but it never made it. Finally, after all this time, it's arriving late September. The Hole, originally filmed in 3D (back when it was "3-D"), stars Haley Bennett, Nathan Gamble and Chris Massoglia as children terrorized by some eerie, evil hole from hell they find in their basement. Joe Dante’s The Hole will finally be released to theaters on September 28th and the official theatrical trailer has been released.

Big Air Studios is handling the theatrical distribution in the Us and we expect a limited release. The Hole was directed by Joe Dante and stars Chris Massoglia, Haley Bennett, Nathan Gamble, Bruce Dern and Teri Polo.

Last we heard, Joe Dante's looooong awaited The Hole was getting a Blu-ray/DVD release on September 25th, and now, according to Yahoo, it's also hitting theatres on September 28th. We'll do some digging, and in the meantime check out the "theatrical trailer" for PG-13 thriller The Hole.
