CNN will start showing the post-show Overtime segments from HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher as part of its Friday edition of CNN Tonight.
The segments will start this Friday at 11:30 Pm Et.
The Overtime segments have up to now been posted online and promoted to viewers of Real Time. They feature Maher and his guests continuing their discussion on a range of topics and answering viewer questions.
The scheduling of the segments is the latest move by CNN Worldwide chairman and CEO Chris Licht to bolster the network’s primetime and late-night lineup. He has not yet named a permanent show for the 9 Pm Et timeslot, and sources say that one of the ideas considered has been to schedule a non-traditional host, such as a comedian, for that time period. QAnon leader Phil Godlewski accidentally outed himself as an alleged child predator after filing a defamation lawsuit against a local paper that exposed old court records to public scrutiny, according to a report from The Daily Beast. Despite Godlewski and QAnon’s obsessive fixation with pedophile cabals running the government, it seems in this case the call is coming from inside the house.
In 2010, Godlewski was charged as a result of his relationship with a 15-year-old girl, identified in records as “B.D.” According to police records and testimony from the victim,...

Some directors are simply in the right place at the right time. This is why Tim Burton has spent the last decade recycling the same ideas, visuals and motifs to ever-diminishing returns with ever-escalating budgets. Surely Burton would not be where he was had the ever-underestimated Joe Dante not turned down directing “Batman” in the late '80s, citing the self-awareness that has eluded Burton his entire career: Dante famously refused the job on the grounds of being a Joker fan more than a Batman one. Sadly, it’s that sort of vision that allows Burton to keep lighting studios’ money on fire while Dante is reduced to low-fi time-wasters like “The Hole." “The Hole” follows the Thompsons, a big-city family who abscond to the suburbs, transplanting two young sons coping with serious growing pains. In his late teens, moody Dane (Chris Massoglia) now sulks and complains, pressured to be...

With a family-friendly return to the kind of filmmaking Amblin did best in the 80s, Joe Dante‘s The Hole earns a strange honor as a horror film. It’s pleasant. A pleasant, scary movie. It builds from a standard coming-of-age tale: the single mom (Teri Polo), teenage son Dane (Chris Massoglia) and younger brother Lucas (Nathan Gamble) move from the big city to the small town complete with the tough transition. That change of pace (at least for Dane) is softened by the cute next-door neighbor Julie (Haley Bennett), but it’s made a bit more difficult by the bottomless hole in their basement that brings their personal fears to life. Apparently that wasn’t in the real estate listing. That core element allows Dante, working from Mark L. Smith‘s script, to explore different levels of fear. For Lucas, it’s a clown doll that terrorizes him, leaving Dante to craft a tone worthy of...

In director Joe Dante’s new movie The Hole a pair of young brothers (Chris Massoglia, Nathan Gamble) and their neighbor (Haley Bennett) investigate a mysterious chasm in the basement of the siblings’ house and are forced to deal with the array of terrifying unpleasantness which emerges from said aperture. Like Dante’s pair of Gremlins movies, the result is a family-friendly venture which may have younger clan members viewing the action through trembling fingers. “It’s my revenge,” laughs Dante. “That’s how I watched Tarantula in 1955. I forced my father to take me to see this giant spider...

Three years after completion, Joe Dante’s film, The Hole, will finally hit theaters on September 28th. The Hole was shot independently in Vancouver in 3D, and premiered at the Venice, Toronto and AFI Film Festivals in late 2009.
The Hole is a 3d thriller from Big Air Studios, which centers around a family in a new home who discover a mysterious hole in the basement that realizes the family’s worst fears. The film stars Teri Polo, Chris Massoglia, Nathan Gamble, and Haley Bennett, and was written by Mark L. Smith (Vacancy).
This is Joe Dante’s first feature film since Looney Tunes: Back In Action from 2003, and the trailer looks like a breath of a fresh air with so many dead-serious horror films on the market these days. Horror for a general audience is always a good combination, but what do you think has taken so long to get this movie a theatrical release?...

Big Air Studios & Bold Films are finally ready to release The Hole, the new horror from Gremlins director Joe Dante, that has been on hold for three years. I'm a lil' grouchy because we first covered it way back in 2009. We even ran a trailer in May of 2010 for a release that year, but it never made it. Finally, after all this time, it's arriving late September. The Hole, originally filmed in 3D (back when it was "3-D"), stars Haley Bennett, Nathan Gamble and Chris Massoglia as children terrorized by some eerie, evil hole from hell they find in their basement. It's the kind of kids' horror Dante is known for, but doesn't look that amazing. One of the early reviews from Tiff three years ago when it premiered as The Hole 3D gave it some positive praise and called it "a film that is sure to make ...

Last we heard, Joe Dante's looooong awaited The Hole was getting a Blu-ray/DVD release on September 25th, and now, according to Yahoo, it's also hitting theatres on September 28th. We'll do some digging, and in the meantime check out the "theatrical trailer" for PG-13 thriller The Hole.
Synopsis:
From visionary director Joe Dante comes a suspense thriller that explores the fears and secrets buried deep in the human mind. Life couldn't possibly get worse, or so thought 17-year-old Dane (Chris Massoglia) and his 10-year-old brother, Lucas (Nathan Gamble), when their single mother, Susan (Teri Polo), uproots them from New York City to the sleepy little town of Bensonville. For Dane the only exciting thing about their new town is the beautiful girl next door, Julie (Haley Bennett). With Susan spending more and more time at work, Dane and Lucas are left unattended to explore the depths of their eerie new residence.

Horror movies today are packed with so much tortuous gore, anything veering away from the trend looks childish in comparison. A new trailer for director Joe Dante’s The Hole seems to prove that theory – the footage looks more like a rebooted episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark? than an actual film, complete with cheesy acting and kiddie scares like an evil clown doll. But hopefully Dante’s new outing will deliver as much campy fun as his other work, namely Gremlins, The ‘Burbs, and the cult Ramones tribute Rock ‘n’ Roll High School.
