If you're a fan of reality TV, you've probably wondered who your favorite Real Housewives might be voting for in the imminent, high-stakes 2024 election.
As we've recently noted, the 2016 election was the first to be dubbed "the reality TV election" by analysts and experts:
"Immediately after Trump's unexpected victory, film and media expert Richard Chapman contrasted perceptions of Trump with those of Democratic nominee former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, marking the former as inherently "unscripted," and the latter overproduced[.]"
This year isn't the first (or even the second) time Americans have been warned of "the most consequential election of our lifetimes," and while 2024 and 2016 feel a bit similar, a lot has changed, too.
Celebrity endorsements have become even more fraught in the protracted political tension in which Americans have lived for nearly a decade but that hasn't silenced stars.

What makes a reality TV show like Dancing With the Stars so great is the wide array of celebrity contestants that compete for the coveted Mirrorball Trophy. With the show having announced its Season 33 celeb cast, which will consist of the latest The Bachelorette, Jenn Tran, it's certain to be yet another glorious season of seeing celebrities with two left feet showcase their dance moves.
With a new season airing this fall, it makes fans think about all the controversial contestants of previous seasons. DWTS isn't all about the footwork, as it's had its fair share of drama since airing back in 2005. The show has faced backlash for allowing contestants from the political sphere to compete. In addition, viewers have also complained about former contestants who have disturbing arrest records. Despite this, it looks like Season 33 is also moving forward with a controversial figure.

The historic presidential run of Vice President Kamala Harris is “Tgit-coded,” TikToker Kimberly Mykel said in a video shared in a reaction video duet by “Scandal” star Kerry Washington on Saturday. The actress captioned the clip, “In Shonda we trust.” Tgit is a reference to “Thank God It’s Thursday” — the night that Rhimes’ shows historically all aired on ABC.
The parallels between Harris and Washington’s own Olivia Pope from “Scandal” are five-fold, Mykel explained. “I just wanted to come on here and thank Shonda Rhimes, first and foremost, because she prepared America for a woman like Kamala Harris,” Mykel began.
“Because Kamala is very Tgit-coded if we really want to clock it. You know what I mean?” Mykel continued. “Like, she’s always got a blowout. She’s married to a white man. She’s a lawyer. She doesn’t have children of her own, although she is a stepmother.

Eleven years ago, when talk of “getting canceled” applied to TV shows more than TV stars, Paula Deen lost her long-running employment with Food Network. On June 21, 2013, the cable channel announced it would not renew Deen’s contract, following the news that the chef and restauranteur admitted to using racial epithets in the past. In a court deposition, Deen said she had used the N-word before. In a Today appearance after the deposition went public, Deen claimed she wasn’t racist. But the damage was done: Within days, Deen had lost deals, contracts, and partnerships with Walmart, Target, Home Depot, QVC, Sears, JCPenney, Caesars Entertainment Corporation, Smithfield Foods, and Ballantine books. In the years since, Deen has continued working, though not on Food Network, as her official website attests. The producers of “Dancing With the Stars” are responding to the controversial casting of Sean Spicer (Season 28) and Adrian Peterson (Season 32), among others.
“We’re a silly ballroom dance show, we’re teaching people how to cha cha. The country is divided, so half of the people may have one political view and the other half have the other. At the core of it, we always just go for nice, good people,” executive producer Deena Katz told Variety following ABC’s unscripted panel at the Television Critics Association press tour on Saturday.
Katz added that former White House press secretary Spicer became friends with many members of the cast during his time on the show. However, there was a great deal of controversy amid his casting, with former host Tom Bergeron among those expressing disappointment over how the show was being politicized.

Jack Reacher originated in the series of novels by Lee Child, in which he's described as 250 pounds, 6-ft 5-inches, and as having "a six-pack like a cobbled city street, a chest like a suit of NFL armor, biceps like basketballs, and subcutaneous fat like a Kleenex tissue." But when Hollywood got a hold of him, they hired Tom Cruise to portray that mountain of muscle in 2012's "Jack Reacher" and 2016's "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back." Unfortunately, at 5-ft 7 inches, the "Mission: Impossible" star just didn't work for many fans. An article in the LA Times quotes one incensed Reacher adherent thusly:
"I can not [sic] believe they actually used an arrogant overexposed short Imbecile to create such an awesome character. I will not see it and it literally Ruined the whole character for me. How Could They Do This?"
After "Never Go Back," Cruise's diminutive version of the ex-military police officer disappeared.

While professing his love for the LGBTQ community, he said, “I feel like the parents have almost forgotten what the role of a parent is,” he began. “If your little boy comes up to you and says, ‘Daddy I wanna be a girl,’ you just let him rock with that?”

“When did that happen? Like, I don’t understand that.”
The three-time Grammy winner, age 43, said that he comes from “an era” where a “man was a man and a woman was a woman.”

Eliminated Dancing With The Stars season 31 contestant, platinum recording artist, and American Idol winner Jordin Sparks has some suggestions for who should compete on the reality competition show next, and one of them is her "No Air" collaborator and controversial singer Chris Brown. After their Halloween Night tango to "Oogie Boogie's Song" from The Nightmare Before Christmas and their participation in the group dance, Jordin and her partner Brandon Armstrong were second to last on the leaderboard in eighth place. They then found themselves in the bottom two with fellow competitors Heidi D'Amelio and Artem Chigvintsev. DWTS judges Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli saved Jordin and Brandon. However, Carrie Ann Inaba voted to save Heidi and Artem, along with Len Goodman. As head judge, Len's vote counts twice, so Jordin and Brandon were sent home.

Dancing With The Stars has dedicated nights to many iconic artists throughout the past 31 seasons including Elvis Presley, Britney Spears, and Janet Jackson, but the show has yet to celebrate the songs and dances of the legendary Queen of Pop, Madonna. DWTS has paid tribute to Madonna in a few episodes, including a season 10 cha cha dance-off to "Holiday" and a season 13 medley of hits. They included "Like a Virgin" and "Like a Prayer."
Paula Deen and Louis van Amstel recreated Madonna's classic "Vogue" performance during season 21 and Jeannie Mai and Brandon Armstrong danced to "Like a Virgin" during season 29. Most recently, DWTS season 31 contestants Gabby Windey and Val Chmerkovskiy danced the cha cha to Madonna's "Die Another Day" on Bond Night. Jenny McCarthy was the only one who guessed the Sex and the City and And Just Like That star correctly. Robin Thicke thought he might be Nathan Lane, while Ken Jeong guessed Bowen Yang. Fox Nation has enlisted a new face to help it navigate TV’s streaming wars.

Paula Deen brought all the fun, sass, humor, and heart.
Seriously, of all the Legends visiting so far, no one brought that amount of energy and huge personality quite like her. She was a blast to watch interacting with the other judges on MasterChef Season 11 Episode 3, and she brought out the best in those competing too.
She also has the most infectious laugh.
We had some of the liveliest contestants yet, and they perfectly matched the energy that Paula brought to the hour and the process.
Everyone was passionate about their food, the personalities were out of this world, and it was pure entertainment throughout the installment.
It's a good thing they still had five aprons to hand out. Paula, while filterless, was also someone easily endeared by innovative dishes, fresh faces, and stories that tugged at her heart.

Writer-director Brad J. Silverman’s “Selfie Dad” is a pleasantly predictable faith-based dramedy that has been scheduled and marketed for family viewing over Father’s Day weekend on VOD platforms. As it turns out, however, the timing of its release might actually serve to expand the film’s appeal slightly beyond the usual target audience for similar fare. Indeed, in the context of recent real-life events and Black Lives Matter protests, certain elements of Silverman’s narrative give his film, if only inadvertently, a slightly sharper edge than even he likely intended.

Basketball player Lamar Odom got the lowest score from the judges in the season premiere of “Dancing with the Stars,” but he may not be the one eliminated tonight. According to the combined predictions of “DWTS” fans who have given us their forecasts here in our predictions center, Sean Spicer will be the first to get the boot. However, it also depends on tonight’s dances and how the voting process will be handled.
As of this writing Spicer gets leading odds of 17/10 of getting the axe, followed by Odom with 47/20 odds, “The Office” actress Kate Flannery with 6/1 odds and legendary singer Mary Wilson with 19/2 odds. Indeed, Spicer and Odom landed on the bottom of the judges’ leaderboard: Odom with 11 out of 30 and Spicer with 12 out of 30. But last week’s scores are going to be combined with tonight’s scores as well as tonight’s live audience votes to determine the elimination.

Howard Bragman, a longtime PR strategist and crisis manager, weighs in on the college admissions scandal that has ensnared “Desperate Housewives” star Felicity Huffman and “Fuller House” actress Lori Loughlin. Neither actress is a client of Bragman’s.
Seeing your spin doctor is just like seeing your medical doctor after a scary diagnosis: Everyone wants to know how bad it is.
That’s the question everyone is asking right now about Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin. What will their careers look like post-scandal?
Actually, there are some objective ways to predict whether this will be a speed bump or a sink hole. Here are the things I look at:
1.) How egregious is the act?
Racism is the worst; ask Michael Richards and Paula Deen. I explain that race is the “third-rail” of reputations. In Felicity and Lori’s case, there is a lot of anger, but most parents understand that as parents,...

It’s true. PR people are often called “apologists.” I don’t bristle at that description, because apologizing and getting it right is a crucial skill set for today’s crisis manager.
Apologies are hard to do — they are humbling, irritating and often required during periods of high emotional pressure and agitation. I promise, we live in a very forgiving world, people want to forgive you. A solid apology allows that.
For public figures apologies may affect your image, your career options and of course your income, and I have always believed that our reputations are the most valuable things we own.
As we just saw with Kevin Hart and the Oscars, a botched apology can lose you a dream job if handled badly.
Don’t let the anger get the best of you. Get in touch with your most rational self, and get a team together to help you.

Kevin Hart’s failure to quickly and effectively respond to controversy over his homophobic tweets shows that celebrities have little margin for error when faced with a burgeoning scandal. Over the span of 24 hours, Hart’s dreams of hosting the Oscars went up in smoke after the comic offered up two non-apologies that were alternately churlish, defiant, and indignant.
“In this day and age you’ve got minutes, if not seconds to deal with a crisis,” said Andrew Blum, head of the crisis PR firm Ajb Communications. “You always offer the most apologetic statement first and he didn’t.”
That didn’t happen. Instead, it was only on his third attempt, following two Instagram videos that public relations gurus say were tone deaf, that Hart seemed to recognize he’d hurt people.

Former PBS host Tavis Smiley blasted his former employer Thursday, accusing the network’s CEO Paula Kerger of using legal tactics to avoid giving a deposition in his case.

It was basically just an excuse to check out some butts and yell stuff like “Do you you want fries with that shake?”
Winner: Aquaria...

PBS has hired the same lawyer that celebrity chef Paula Deen used in her workplace racial discrimination suit, to represent the network in its legal battle with Tavis Smiley.
In February, Smily sued PBS for firing him over sexual misconduct allegations, claiming that the network breached its contract and damaged his production company.
Grace Speights, an employment litigation specialist and partner in the D.C. office of Morgan Lewis, will be leading PBS’ legal team in the case, according to the network. An initial scheduling conference is set for later this month in D.C. Superior Court.

For several years—I don’t even remember when I started, or why—I have been preparing a modified version of Paula Deen’s Baked French Toast Casserole on Christmas Eve, to bake on Christmas morning. You make a caramel-like sauce (which I put on the bottom of the dish; Dean puts her on the top), layer some French bread…

Paula Deen is back on TV.
The southern cookbook queen, former Dancing with the Stars contestant and butter’s biggest fan has a new TV show, Positively Paula. The family-friendly cooking show is filmed in Paula’s home in Savannah, Georgia. The show, now in its first season, airs on Rfd-tv each Tuesday night, and is also syndicated around the country.
On Tuesday night’s episode, Paula’s daughter-in-law has a surprise for the TV cook. Claudia Deen prepares a delicious and nutritious lunch for Paula — but doesn’t tell her that it’s vegan.
Deen is thrilled to be back.

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: What is the strangest (most unusual, most unexpected, etc.) response you’ve had in an interview?
Eric Deggans (@deggans), NPR
I’m sure I’ve probably blacked out the craziest stuff from my memory, like Lou Dobbs insulting me so badly during an interview that the publicist who set it up called to apologize afterwards. Or Tommy Lee Jones insisting on only answering in detail incredibly esoteric questions about lighting and scheduling lunch when talking about directing a version of the two-man play “The Sunset Limited” for HBO. But one of the weirdest experience I ever had was when Tim Allen said the word “nigger” to me during a telephone interview.

The Federal Trade Commission has taken action against a vast network of internet marketers who misled consumers.
According to a statement obtained by Et from the FTC, three men -- Richard Fowler, Ryan Fowler and Nathan Martinez -- were allegedly behind the scam, which deceived consumers into believing they were ordering "free trials" of skincare products and dietary supplements. These men control 19 companies, collectively operating as Tarr, Inc.
They allegedly used fake websites (like womenshealthi.com and goodhousekeepingtoday.com) that appeared legitimate as a way to conceal their fraudulent conduct. They also used the likeness of a few celebrities to endorse their products without permission, claiming stars like Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Aniston, Eva Longoria, Paula Deen, Christina El Moussa and more used the products and experienced "dramatic results."
