Tyler R. Jenkins is a non-binary American filmmaker, composer, and trumpet player. Since high school, Jenkins has been an accomplished musician, performing with their big band and jazz choir across the US. Both groups have been continuously recognized by Downbeat Magazine, including a national win for performance at a high school level in 2019.
In 2021, they moved to Boston to study at Berklee College of Music, majoring in Film & Media Scoring. At Berklee, they are a member of the Sexuality and Gender Alliance, and the Jewish Student Association. They are also a player for the Global Jazz Institute, performing with Brian Blade, John Patitucci, Victor Wooten, and others.
Jenkins is currently making independent short films under their production company, This Is Monky, co-founded by producer Dee Merrill in 2022. Their work is known to be irreverent and absurdist, often aiming to provide modern social and political commentary. Their goal is to move to solely making feature films by 2030.
