Last month we took a trip to Nottingham, England's cinephile haven Broadway Cinema for four days of eclectic genre programming at the 2013 Mayhem Horror Film Festival. Check in right here for a look at some of the sights and reviews from the East Midlands' premier horror fest.
The festival kicked off on Thursday 31st October with a special screening of director Nicholas Roeg's Don't Look Now and Puffball, taking place in the special environs of St. Mary's Church with Roeg himself in attendance to introduce and officially open this year's event.
Topping off the evening was Vincenzo Natali's underwhelming Haunter (review here).
While we weren't around for that particular evening's events, the following three days saw a schedule packed to the gills with guests, impromptu trivia-based giveaways, and screenings unfolding before and behind the Broadway's gorgeous red curtains, including:
- The cinematically sumptuous, but disappointingly perplexing The Strange...

Are Auntie Pippa and Uncle Harry guaranteed the role of royal godparents? Prince George will be christened in the fall, and although Pippa and Harry may seem like obvious choices for godparents, they aren’t necessarily shoo-ins for the spots!
We know Prince George Alexander Louis already has a great set of parents to raise him right, but every royal child needs some godparents! Though Pippa Middleton and Prince Harry are the popular picks for the honorable role – will they be the chosen ones? Plus, royals have more godparents than you might think!
Prince George’s Godparents: Will Prince Harry Or Pippa Middleton Be Chosen?
In the non-royal world, typically two godparents are named to sponsor a child’s baptism. But, in the royal world, two is simply not enough — and neither is three or four. Per royal tradition, six godparents are selected!

One of the true pioneers of adult and erotic cinema, Tinto Brass is renown as one of Europe’s leading figures in softcore erotic filmmaking, earning a worldwide reputation for his blend of art and extremity. After joining the Italian film industry in the early 1960’s Brass worked alongside the likes of Federico Fellini and Roberto Rossellini, before directing his debut solo feature in 1963. However it was not until 1976 that Brass would gain worldwide recognition, when Penthouse publisher Bob Guccione chose him to direct the infamous Caligula. Despite numerous editing and post-production issues, which caused Brass to disown the film, it made millions at the box office and ultimately gained him global notoriety.

Writer/director Andrew Barker is a man with a mission. For his first feature film, the stunning and gut-wrenching A Reckoning (review here), his mission is to get the film out to the fans who so desperately want to see this movie and for good reason - it's excellent!
From the seeds of an encounter with an abandoned Raf base in Nottingham, England, Barker came up with the story of a lone man (Leslie Simpson) and the questions people will be discussing and debating long after the film is over: Is this a post-apocalyptic film? Has The Man removed himself from society and now prefers to live like a hermit? Or is The Man simply insane?
Dread Central recently interviewed this amazing director to try and get some more insight into his polarizing film which very few have seen…yet.

Australia Broadcasting Authority's Flint resigns
SYDNEY -- David Flint resigned Monday as chairman of the Australian Broadcasting Authority, months short of the October expiration of his term with the regulatory body. He will go on leave until his resignation takes effect July 2, the ABA said. In recent months, Flint had been embroiled in a controversy over a series of letters he wrote to radio broadcaster Alan Jones praising him just months before an ABA inquiry in 1999 into Jones' and rival announcer John Laws' sponsorship deals.
