Back in the day, I don’t think sports movies were as popular in Bollywood as they are today. So, despite something as momentous as India’s win at the 1983 Cricket World Cup, we didn’t get a slew of films around that topic. In fact, it wasn’t until 2001’s Lagaan that we got a film wholly centered around cricket. The subgenre of drama films expanded in the 2000s with Iqbal, Chak De India, and Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal. In the 2010s we got Patiala House, Brothers, Saala Khadoos, and straight-up masterpieces like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Dangal, and Mukkabaaz. The 2020s have given us Panga, Rashmi Rocket, Liger (it is what it is), and Ghoomer. And to add to this illustrious list, while also making it a bit diverse, is Vijay 69.

Composer and singer Amit Trivedi shared that the music album of 2015 film ‘Bombay Velvet’, which turned out to be a disaster at the box-office, is his personal favourite and that it broke his heart when he did not get any result.
Talking about the music of ‘Bombay Velvet’ being underrated, Trivedi told : “It’s my personal favourite when I was making it, and once it was done I was sitting at home and one fine day as I was scrolling through the album listening to it much before it was released, I remember talking to myself ‘bro you have killed it’. It’s amazing. It sounds great but … whatever film had its fate because it is part of a film right.”
He said that with the film’s fate, the efforts made for the music washed away too.
“There are a lot of energies… and film’s come with their own fate.

Anurag Kashyap's magnum opus Bombay Velvet is caught up in a fix yet again. After being postponed twice, the film receives yet another setback after one of the prominent member of the cast, Raveena Tandon has called it quits. The actress has decided to walk out of the film owing to the constant changes that has been happening in the script of the film. Bombay Velvet which was initially slated for a release in 2014 has been postponed for more than six months to May 2015. While the makers have always maintained that the reason behind this decision was the delay in the post production, we hear there are a lot of changes being made in the script as well. The actress expressed her disappointment stating that though she had completed her shoot schedule, now the scenario has changed and she won't be a part of it anymore. However, rubbishing rumours...

A while back, we had reported that the release date of Anurag Kashyap's neo-noir film Bombay Velvet had been postponed to 2015. Now we hear that the director, who has found extra time to work on his project, will be shooting a special music video for the film.
Interestingly, Anurag will not be directing the said video, instead Vikramaditya Motwane, who earlier directed films like Lootera and Udaan will shoot the music video. A source close to the film confirms the development saying, "The music video will be a jazz number set in the 60's featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and also Karan Johar, who plays a media mogul in the film, and directed by Vikramaditya."
Further the source informs us, "Currently, the video is still being conceptualized, but once done, it will be shot to convey the general idea of the film." However, the track will not be a part of the film,...

Anurag Kashyap's ambitious project Bombay Velvet that features Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma has been postponed. The film that was initially expected to release on November 28, 2014, has now been shifted to release in May 2015. Confirming the postponement, Anurag stated that since the film will deal with recreating a bygone era, the amount of VFX work on the film had been severely underestimated. Now since there still is plenty of VFX work pending, the release date of the film would have to be pushed. In fact while the shoot of the film has been completed a while back, only 25% of VFX work has been done. Interestingly, Bombay Velvet that is produced by Phantom Films and Fox Star Studios, and is based on historian Gyan Prakash's book "Mumbai Fables" is Anurag Kashyap's first attempt at making a mainstream commercial film. Besides this, with the postponement of the film's release,...

After several box-office hits, Ranbir Kapoor certainly was on a role but then he had to face one of his films flopping at the box office. Despite the fact his latest film was not the success that was expected, the actor does not regret doing Besharam.
“I don’t regret doing the film. All films can’t be hit. My first film Saawariya was also a flop. There is no hit formula. I don’t know if there is a hit formula”, he said at a Philips event. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is loved for the kind of films he has to offer but he feels that the Indian audience has a very different notion about films that go for film festivals.
As stated by Times of India, Anurag recently at an event expressed this and said,” In India, for some reason the audience thinks that the films going to film festivals are boring. I know this because I also had to go through struggle to be able to release my films. Every filmmaker has to go through some or the other trouble. Everyone is working towards solving this.”
Anurag’s short film was a part of the four director ensemble Bombay Talkies as a tribute to 100 years of Indian cinema, and was screened at Cannes as well. He feels these type of films are an encouragement to distributors and exhibitors. He has also co-produced 5 films with Viacom18 and...
