Moreover, this was India’s first series loss in 13 T20Is since July 2021.

New Delhi, Aug 9 (Ians) Amidst the applause directed towards Suryakumar Yadav for victory, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has highlighted the significant role played by Kuldeep Yadav in the third T20 against the West Indies.
Yadav picked 3 crucial wickets in the first innings of the match, dismissing opener Brandon King, Johnson Charles and the dangerous Nicholas Pooran, to put the clamps on the West Indies to reduce the hosts to a meagre total of 159/5 after they had won the toss and elected to bat.
“Surya was brilliant again but Kuldeep the real match-winner for me. Restricting Wi to 159 by taking 3 top-order wickets including that of Pooran. Well done Kuldeep,” Manjrekar wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Georgetown (Guyana), Aug 7 (Ians) Skipper Hardik Pandya blamed his players for another poor performance with the bat as India lost to West Indies by two wickets with seven balls to spare in a thrilling second T20I here on Sunday.
India went down to West Indies despite a brilliant fightback with the ball in which they affected a late West Indies collapse, claiming four wickets for two runs in the 16th and 17th overs before the hosts scrapped through thanks to an undefeated 26 runs partnership between Akeal Hosein and Alzari Joseph for the ninth wicket.
India could manage a below-par 152/7 in 20 overs thanks mainly to Tilak Varma, who struck a superb 51, his maiden half-century in only his second T20I. Skipper Pandya struck twin blows in his first over and Arshdeep claimed one wicket as India reduced West Indies to 32/3 in the powerplay. But Nicholas Pooran hammered a 40-ball 67 and...

Lucknow Super Giants clinched their spot in the 2023 Ipl playoffs with a win in their final season game over the Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Lsg’s move to promote Deepak Hooda did not pay off. Prerak Mankad and Quinton de Kock were dismissed cheaply as well and the hosts were tottering at 35/3. Krunal and Stoinis then got together and forged a solid recovery with an 82-run stand.
After Krunal Pandya retired himself in the 16th over, Stoinis took matters into his hands and unleashed shorts all around the park, taking 54 runs off the last 3 overs to provide a magnificent finish to Lsg.

Hyderabad, May 13 (Ians) The Match No.58 of Ipl 2023 between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Supergiants on Saturday had to be stopped for nearly 10 minutes due to the unruly behaviour of the crowd behind the visiting team dugout at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
The stoppage in play during the 19th over of the first innings happened after Hyderabad had been controversially denied a free hit as Lucknow reviewed an on-field call by the square-leg umpire, who deemed the ball from pacer Avesh Khan to batter Abdul Samad was above waist height and called it a no-ball.
After seeing the replays, the third umpire Yeshwant Barde overturned the decision despite the ball appearing to reach the crease above Samad’s waist. The call though was marginal as Samad was slightly crouching at that time, leaving the batter as well as non-striker Heinrich Klaasen unimpressed and the square-leg umpire giving a bemused look.

Hyderabad, May 13 (Ians) Lucknow Super Giants skipper Krunal Pandya said the message sent out to the batters during the second time-out in the chase of 183 against Sunrisers Hyderabad was to go after the bowlers and get the momentum in their favour.
At 89/2 in 13 overs and the asking rate going in excess of 13, chasing down 183 was looking very bleak for Lucknow. Post the time-out, Prerak Mankad, Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis changed gears in a display of unbelievable big-hitting to take the side to a seven-wicket victory over Hyderabad with four balls.
Stoinis and Pooran were pivotal in changing the course of the match, smashing 31 runs in the 16th over bowled by Abhishek Sharma, including five sixes. While Mankad was 64 not out, Pooran smashed 44 not out off just 13 balls and Stoinis played a cameo of 45 off 20 balls.
“It was nothing special. It’s just that we had to go after the bowlers.

New Delhi, April 2 (Ians) Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel showered praise on England tearaway pacer Mark Wood, who picked up the first fifer of the Ipl 2023 season, and applauded the plans he executed in rattling Delhi Capitals batters, especially with the way he got out opener Prithvi Shaw.
In defence of 193 for the Lucknow Super Giants, Wood, playing just his second Ipl game, delivered one of the most scorching spells of fast-bowling in T20 cricket in recent times, as his 5/14 left Delhi in disarray and restricting them to 143/9, to set up a 50-run victory for his team.
At the start of his spell, Wood began by softening Shaw with the bouncer. After two more back of the length deliveries in the fifth over, Wood went fuller and stormed through Shaw’s defence with a beautiful in-ducker and then got out Mitchell Marsh on the very next ball in the same...

New Delhi, March 27 (Ians) Former Australia skipper Aaron Finch believes the opening pair of captain K.L Rahul and wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock are the biggest strengths of Lucknow Super Giants in the run-up to 2023 season of the Indian Premier League (Ipl).
In their maiden Ipl season last year, the side, captained by Rahul, finished third in the league stage with nine wins and five defeats. They crashed out of the competition after losing to Royal Challengers Bangalore in the eliminator at Kolkata.
But de Kock will miss Lucknow’s first two matches against Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings on April 1 and 3 respectively as South Africa will be engaged in an Odi series against the Netherlands.
“The big strength of the Lucknow Super Giants is their opening combination, K.L Rahul and Quinton de Kock. They complement each other so well. They are very different players, and their strengths and weaknesses offset each other.

New Delhi, Dec 26 (Ians) Ahead of the inaugural edition of the ILT20 in the UAE, former India opener Virender Sehwag believes West Indies wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran is a dangerous player and if he comes in the form, then his team Mi Emirates stands to benefit hugely.
Pooran’s form has been a huge point of concern, amassing just 94 runs in his last 10 innings in T20Is. In West Indies’ shock first-round exit from the Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia, Pooran had scores of 5, 7 and 13 and stepped down as the side’s white-ball skipper.
“Nicholas Pooran is a dangerous player. While his performance in the Icc men’s T20 World Cup was not up to the mark, he is a brilliant player. In the recent Abu Dhabi T10 innings, he scored 70-80 runs in mere 20-25 balls. If he comes in the form, it will definitely benefit Mi Emirates.
