Rome, March 22 (Ians) Juventus's hopes of winning the Serie A title took a major hit after a morale-sapping 1-0 home defeat to Benevento, as Arthur Melo's howler allowed the newly-promoted side to leave Allianz Stadium with all three points.
It was the second time that Juve dropped points against Filippo Inzaghi's side this season, after they played out a 1-1 draw earlier in the season, Xinhua news agency reported.
With Paulo Dybala, Aaron Ramsey and Alex Sandro injured, Federico Bernardeschi started at left-back, while Cristiano Ronaldo partnered Alvaro Morata upfront during the game on Sunday.
Juve dominated possession from the beginning but failed to break down a compact Benevento defense, with an effort from Ronaldo chalked off after the Portuguese had wandered offside in the build-up.
The away side took a shock lead in the 69th minute as Arthur's weak square-pass in his own half was intercepted by...

AC Milan are set to fend off competition from a host of European clubs and bring Sevilla striker Carlos Bacca to the San Siro next season, La Gazzetto Delo Sport reports.
The Italian side who are now managed by Sinisa Mihajlovic after Filippo Inzaghi was sacked at the end of last season have agreed to meet the Columbian’s buy-out clause of around £21 million.
Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool and Roma all showed strong interest in the 28-year-old who scored 29 goals in all competitions last season and paid a big part in leading Sevilla to back-to-back Europa League titles.
Bacca who also made 9 assists last term grabbed 7 goals during their Europa campaign finishing just behind Everton’s Romelu Lukaku who scored 8.
The powerful centre forward joined the Spanish side in July 2013 from Belgian side Club Brugge for €7 million.

Having three left-backs and three more players who can cover the position was always going to mean that there’d be a breaking point in the not too distant future, and it seems that Davide Santon is the most likely casualty of Newcastle‘s surprising selection luxury.
In the past day or so, the player has been linked with a winter move to Milan, having apparently already been the source of interest from Roma, and given Alan Pardew’s favouring of Paul Dummett this year, it doesn’t look good for those who want to keep the Italian.
He was apparently subject to more Italian interest this summer, and Milan’s boss Filippo Inzaghi has been tasked with rebuilding his side, with a left-back at the top of his list of priorities. An alternative would be Davide Brivio, who Milan are scouting, but there would probably...

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has refused to rule out the prospect of swapping Juan Mata for Wayne Rooney in a possible part-exchange deal this summer, according to the Metro.
Mata’s future has been the subject of much speculation during the transfer window with reports suggesting the Spain international was included as part of Chelsea’s first offer for Rooney.
Willian’s expected move from Anzhi this week has also raised question marks over the 25-year-old’s future, just two seasons after joining the West London club from Valencia.
And when asked what would happen if United asked for Mata as part-exchange for Rooney, Mourinho was evasive on the topic.
“That’s hypothetical, because they didn’t ask.
“The two answers we got from Man United is ‘we don’t accept the bid’, ‘we’re not interested in selling the player’.
“That’s the only official contact we had with Man United.
