[This story contains spoilers for The White Lotus seasons one, two and three.]
Though the beloved Jennifer Coolidge isn’t in The White Lotus season three, she still wants her character avenged.
While speaking with Forbes recently, the actress noted she’s keeping up with the new season that’s taking place in Thailand and she’s “envious as hell.”
Coolidge played fan-favorite Tanya in the first two seasons of The White Lotus before her character met a tragic demise at the end of the second installment. (Who can forget her iconic line: “These gays, they’re trying to murder me.”) She also won Emmys for both performances.
After Forbes‘ Jeff Conway suggested she should return as a twin sister to Tanya, the Riff Raff actress responded, “I know! Look, it’s not like I haven’t wished or whatever, but it isn’t happening. It doesn’t matter — they don’t need me. Mike White...

Sept. 29, 2006 forever changed Dito Montiel and Robert Downey Jr.’s lives.
It was not only the day that Downey was officially cast as Tony Stark in Jon Favreau’s Iron Man, but it was also the theatrical release date of Montiel’s debut indie drama A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, starring Downey as a semi-autobiographical version of Montiel. The day cemented Downey’s return to industry prominence after a series of highly publicized personal struggles, and the random fall Friday had just as much meaning for Montiel after many of his own storybook ups and agonizing downs.
As a native of Queens in New York City, Montiel was something of a renaissance man before becoming a filmmaker. In the ’80s, he was a mainstay in NYC’s hardcore punk scene as the teenage frontman of Major Conflict. In 1989, his new band, Gutterboy, signed a then-record $1 million deal with Geffen Records.

Spoiler Alert !!!Warning: Continue at your own risk—Spoilers for ‘Riff Raff’ are ahead!
The last time I went on a ‘peaceful’ family getaway, I thought I had found the golden ticket—a weekend cabin retreat, nestled in nature, complete with good food, downtime, and the promise of some much-needed peace. Well, let’s just say that it turned into a chaotic, stress-filled experience in record time. Ever had one of those days where you just want to escape the world, retreat to a quiet cabin, and forget about all the noise?
That’s what Vincent (Ed Harris) and his family thought they were doing in Dito Montiel’s Riff Raff—a peaceful getaway.

But this flick doesn’t just dip its toes in humor; it leaps in with both feet, showing how family reunions can go from cringe-worthy to a full-blown disaster,...

Jennifer Coolidge and Pete Davidson are both one of a kind.
The Emmy-winning actress recently recalled to People magazine the moment she realized her Riff Raff co-star was “one of the most unpredictable people” she has ever met.
While filming the crime comedy, currently playing in theaters, in “the middle of winter,” Coolidge said the cast and crew were “immediately thrust” into small spaces together as they attempted to escape the frigid temperatures.
“I remember one day it was freezing … and I was in the house [where we filmed], and then this Rolls-Royce pulls up. And I was like, ‘Who’s that? It must be the owner of the house, right?'” The White Lotus star recounted. “And then it’s Pete Davidson in his Rolls-Royce. That car didn’t quite go with the neighborhood or any of the experience. Plot: Vincent is an ex-criminal who more than anything, just wants a normal, peaceful life. He and his wife Sandy have built a loving family with their son DJ and are spending the winter break in a cabin before he goes off to college. Chaos ensues when Vincent’s disowned son Rocco, his girlfriend Marina and Vincent’s ex-wife Ruth abruptly show up to spoil the festivities with an ominous warning: the famed gangsters Leftie and Lonnie are coming for them.

Exclusive: UK drama producer Fictionhouse, founded by Dominic Cooke and Kate Horton, is closing its doors with the pair both pursuing their own theater projects.
The pair set up Fictionhouse in 2020 with a remit to work up projects across film, stage and TV. They had previously worked together during a prolific spell at the Royal Court Theatre, and both were also at the UK’s National Theatre.
Fictionhouse is ultimately part of Newen Studios, the production and distribution group owned by French broadcast giant TF1. Newen, which is about to be rebadged as Studio TF1, confirmed to Deadline that Fictionhouse is shuttering.
Newen’s investment in Fictionhouse was originally made through Ringside Media, an investment arm of Gub Neal and Kate Bennetts’ Newen-backed Ringside Studios label, which made Liaison for Apple.
Neither Cooke or Horton would comment when contacted by Deadline. It is understood the former will focus on freelance directing.

Riff Raff Review — Jennifer Coolidge, Pete Davidson, and More Phone It in for This Uninspired Comedy
The term “riff-raff” refers to “disreputable or undesirable people,” according to the Oxford Dictionary, and Ditto Montiel’s latest film cannot be accused of false advertising. Although characters you love to hate are certainly in right now — just see Succession or The White Lotus — Riff Raff’s attempts to be satirical in this way fail miserably, resulting in a movie that is dull and difficult to connect with.
Riff Raff Review
Riff Raff follows a former criminal whose now idyllic life is thrown askew when his estranged son shows up carrying a dark secret that makes this family reunion anything but happy. Although a low-concept crime comedy with an A-list cast like this sounds like an exciting prospect, the truth is that this potential is incredibly wasted.

The Friend received strong reviews out of its Telluride Film Festival debut last year, further building its reputation at TIFF. It was here that word grew enough that it seemed a sure thing it would get a respectable release. And after Bleecker Street nabbed the rights, it was on its way to 2025. It flew a bit under the radar there for a while but now, ahead of its debut in a couple of months, we have the first trailer.
Here is the official synopsis, as per Bleecker Street, who will be distributing the drama: “In The Friend, adapted from the bestselling novel, Iris (Naomi Watts) finds her comfortable New York life upended when her friend and mentor Walter (Bill Murray) bequeaths her his Great Dane, Apollo. The regal yet intractable beast is a constant reminder of Walter and causes various problems— yet as Iris bonds with Apollo, she begins to cope with her past,...

Fans have been waiting a long time to see writer/director Macon Blair’s remake of the Troma cult classic The Toxic Avenger (watch it Here), which wrapped filming way back in 2021 and unveiled a teaser trailer near the end of 2023, around the time it had its world premiere screening. Earlier this month, it was announced that Cineverse had acquired the distribution rights with the intention of giving the film an unrated wide release later this year. Now, we know the exact release date. Deadline has learned that the Toxic Avenger remake will be reaching theatres on August 29th, kicking off Labor Day weekend!
Blair’s version of The Toxic Avenger stars Peter Dinklage as Winston Gooze, a stereotypical weakling who works as a janitor at Garb-x health club and is diagnosed with a terminal illness that can only be cured by an expensive treatment that his greedy, power hungry employer refuses to pay for.

At 74, Bill Murray admits he’s “done some damage” in his life, which is why he’s drawn to playing complicated, flawed characters. He’s always gravitated toward roles that show the messy, imperfect side of life, because, well, he gets it.

Bill Murray is notoriously hard to reach. For starters, he doesn’t have an agent. Add to that that he uses an 800 number that you can only leave a message on and the man may as well be on another planet if you’re trying to cast him. We have to respect how limited he chooses to be, but Bill Murraty himself may have some new insights on how he approaches which movies he signs on for.
After making a surprise appearance at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, Bill Murray sat down with critic Elvis Mitchell to admit that his approach to secrecy has made him the sort of enigma that has distanced him from movie studios. “I’ve been lazy. Jude Law has been killing a wide range of roles since he broke out in Anthony Minghella’s “The Talented Mr. Ripley” in 1999. Twenty-five years later, Law’s latest performance as grizzled FBI agent Terry Husk in hardboiled ’80s actioner “The Order” is a departure: The actor not only masters an American accent, but he’s embodying a gun-wielding Western masculine archetype: rugged, angry, laconic, righteous. Think Clint Eastwood, although Law told me that he channeled Gene Hackman and Paul Newman in our video interview (above).
Law’s latest incarnation since he founded Riff Raff Entertainment in 2017: producer. “I love finding material,” he said. “I love reading. I love thinking about who would be good in what role and taking the reins and being able to nurture ideas. I still sit and hope that I get phone calls from certain filmmakers who are making their own things, but when...

The Rocky Horror Picture Show costumes are almost as iconic as the movie itself. Released in 1975 as an independent musical horror comedy, Rocky Horror was one of the biggest flops in movie history when it hit theaters. However, that all changed over the years when it morphed from a failed theatrical release to a beloved midnight screening. It has since become the longest-running theatrical movie in history, as it closes in on 50 years in limited release in theaters with that anniversary coming in 2025. The road has been glorious for the movie, as it even entered into the National Film Registry in the Library of Congress in 2005.
Now considered a cult classic, The Rocky Horror Picture Show has a lot of costumes for fans to choose from when dressing up for the popular live screenings that take place year-round. It is easy to pick out Tim Curry's sequined corset and...

When we talk about movies being hard to categorize or even succinctly summarize, this movie is the poster child for that statement. Almost 50 years on and that still holds true but how about is it good? Does a movie need to be put in a specific area or even be able to be explained to still be good? The Rocky Horror Picture Show is in a category all by itself and yet has had spinoffs of sorts and on-stage revivals since its inception and shows no signs of slowing down. I’m not even sure how the introduction to such a movie should be fleshed out so take a jump to the left, a step to the right, put your hands on your hips and bring your knees in tight. We are about to take a time warp and see if The Rocky Horror Picture Show still stands the Test of Time.

The “Buffalo” journey continued as Hurray for the Riff Raff took the stage on the Kelly Clarkson Show for a performance of the somber record.

Written by Thomas Lennon & Robert Ben Garant (Night at the Museum), with revisions by Keith Cooper (Anything for Jackson) & Dyck, The Casket Girls is inspired by the true story of a group of young women sent from France to New Orleans to become brides to French colonists in the early 1700s. They arrived with small chests, or “caskets” of their belongings, hence the name given by locals. There is very little about Riff Raff, the latest from director Dito Montiel and screenwriter John Pollono, to commend it. The film is bleak, mean-spirited, and simply not good. This cast is very malleable to comedy; many have contributed to some hilarious movies, but the script offers them nothing but one shameful joke after another.

In spite of clocking in at just 103 minutes, Dito Montiel’s family crime comedy “Riff Raff” is exceptionally long. Its all-star cast performs admirably, in a film that takes its time to get going, reveals and confronts little once it does, and uses none of its story swerves to build on its dramatic themes, or its one-note humor. As the secrets of the past catch up with a father and son, threatening to detail their new idyllic lives, the film’s established ideas of love and family don’t so much come into play as they simply hover out of focus, waiting to be deployed. Unfortunately, they never are.
A fleeting, one-shot prologue portrays a climactic moment during which meek teenager DJ (Miles J. Harvey) holds an older, bloodied man, Vincent (Ed Harris) at gunpoint. The former’s personable voiceover then takes us back to a few days prior, revealing them be stepson and stepfather.

The first question that pops up in connection to Dito Montiel’s dark crime comedy about a messy family reunion, Riff Raff, is how in hell he assembled such a cast of proven talents. Even if they never really mesh as an ensemble, there are pleasures to be had watching an Ed Harris-Bill Murray face-off, Pete Davidson as a depressed gangster, Gabrielle Union classing up the joint and Jennifer Coolidge bringing the tone crashing down as a sloppy drunk with a mouth like a trucker and a raging libido.
Had all those assets been funneled into a movie with some tonal consistency and a script that built credible relationships, the result might have been a nasty bit of fun. Instead, it wobbles awkwardly between creeping mob menace and scrappy sitcom, inching toward a violent climax that still doesn’t acquire cohesion. Welcome to the strange, bizarre, and laugh out loud world of Riff Raff. This black comedy from director Dito Montiel brings together an all-star cast at the remote vacation home of reformed criminal Vince. We find Ed Harris as the head of the blended family, which includes stepson DJ, played with charming naivety by Miles Harvey.
Their holiday plans are interrupted by the arrival of Vince’s erratic son Rocco, his heavily pregnant girlfriend, and his drunken ex-wife Ruth—played with expert comedic timing by Jennifer Coolidge.
It soon emerges Rocco is in trouble, hunted by gangster Lefty Murray and his dim associate Lonnie, played perfectly by Pete Davidson. Beneath the humor lies a deeper exploration of family bonds tested to breaking point. As past mistakes are dragged into the light, these “undesirables” must come together against a threat that shakes the New England countryside.

This summer the Coen Brothers’ ripoffs have been out in force including the August release of Greedy People and the Apple Original Films streaming attraction The Instigators. You might call these, and many others in recent years, Coens-light. But then again even the Coens themselves, or at least Ethan, has more recently tried to replicate their earlier success in this genre with the forgettable Drive-Away Dolls earlier this year. So all hail director Dito Montiel and screenwriter John Pollono for getting it right and reviving the genre in style with Riff Raff, world premiering today at the Toronto Film Festival.

“It’s amazing what family is willing to do for each other.”
Director Dito Montiel made a name for himself with a stellar debut in the film world by adapting his memoir, “A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints,” ushering Channing Tatum into movie stardom. The film explored estranged family dynamics and what one is willing to do to avoid the seduction of violence. It propelled Montiel into the stratosphere of indie cult followings, aided by the director’s keen sense for flashbacks and comedy to illustrate difficult relationships.
It seems that Montiel’s taste hasn’t changed much since his early 2000s beginnings. The filmmaker continues his signature outlook on life with the new crime comedy “Riff Raff,” which debuts this week at the Toronto International Film Festival. Jude Law stars in back-to-back films at the Toronto International Film Festival this year with “Eden,” making its world premiere at TIFF, and the North American premiere of “The Order.” The film follows Jude Law as demon-addled Idaho FBI agent Terry Husk, tasked in 1983 with taking down an Aryan brotherhood led by Nicholas Hoult’s Bob Mathews.
To prepare for the role, Law took on some Method acting and admitted that he followed Hoult around for a day to get into character. However, Law rejected the label of “Method acting.”

Scott Budnick, 1Community Executive Producer added that “Nonnas is a celebration of family – the ones you’re born into and the ones you create. We are thrilled to bring this family to Netflix.”

The deal was brokered by WME Independent and Fifth Season, latter of which was the studio on the film. It marks the third deal in the run-up to a Toronto Festival that is chock full of acquisition titles, including some titles that played Telluride. This after the Dito Montiel-directed Riff Raff was acquired for US by Roadside Attractions, and Sony Pictures Classics acquired Jane Austen Wrecked My Life before its TIFF premiere.
The available titles that buyers saw at Telluride include September 5, about how ABC Sports team broadcasting the 1972 Olympics in Munich, German rose to the moment and covered the kidnap and massacre of 11 members of the Israeli team in real time. The twists and turns and split-second decisions they made under Roone Arledge make for a harrowing thriller. Also in that mix is The Friend. In that film, Bill Murray plays an acclaimed writer whose companion is a Great Dane named Apollo. When he dies, the dog is adopted by one of the writer’s protegees (Naomi Watts) who tries to stash the oversized high-maintenance pooch in her Manhattan rent-controlled apartment, which has a firm no dogs allowed policy. Scott McGehee and David Siegel direct a film that was one of the buzz titles of Tellurides.
While recent TIFF deal making has been slow going each year since the pandemic, the abundance of plum titles with strong casts, and an expected buyer appetite could portend a strong atmosphere for deals. TIFF begins tomorrow night.

When she dies, he tries to pull himself out of grief mode by risking everything to open an Italian restaurants and honor his mother. Last September, people finally got to see a bit of Macon Blair’s remake of the famous Troma film The Toxic Avenger. The original is a cult classic that puts an over-the-top, irreverent, graphically violent spin on the superhero franchise and the remake aimed to keep the spirit of the Lloyd Kaufman original. This new incarnation would also sport an impressive cast with The Thicket‘s Peter Dinklage. He’s also joined by Kevin Bacon and Elijah Wood, who portray the big baddies in the film.
However, after the release of the Red Band trailer, there has been no word on a release as the studio behind it doesn’t deem it releasable with its straddling the very fine line of commercial and cult appeal. The status of the film appears to have it in limbo at the moment, but the movie’s lead, Peter Dinklage, is optimistic that it...

USA Network’s The Rainmaker has added P.J. Byrne to its series regular cast alongside John Slattery, Milo Callaghan, Lana Parrilla and Madison Iseman.
From showrunner and executive producer Michael Seitzman and based on the John Grisham novel of the same name, The Rainmaker follows Rudy Baylor (Milo Callaghan) who, fresh out of law school, goes head-to-head with courtroom lion Leo Drummond (John Slattery) and his law school girlfriend Sarah Plankmore (Madison Iseman). Byrne will star as Deck Shifflet, a no-filter, shoot-from-the-hip law school grad who failed the bar seven times. He now operates as an unsentimental “paralawyer” at J. Lyman Stone.
In the 1997 film The Rainmaker from director Francis Ford Coppola, Deck was famously portrayed by Danny DeVito.
