Abdeslam Kelai is a Moroccan filmmaker and screen writer who was born in Larache, North of Morocco, in 1969. He started his career in 2003 with his short feature film Happy Day. He gained critical success with his first long feature film Malak (2012). Being physically challenged himself, Kelai's films often depict the stories of marginalized, outcast characters and their struggle to re-integrate in a society that banishes them.
