John "Hoppy" Hopkins was a a British photographer, journalist, researcher and political activist, and "one of the best-known underground figures of 'Swinging London' " in the late 1960s. With his partner, Sue Hall, in 1969 he formed Fantasy Factory, a facility that revolutionised lowtech video editing, bringing it within reach of community activists and independent directors. At the New London Arts Lab in 1970 he founded TVX and DIY television, in order to enable television production for those who were interested.
