When the TV series based on the popular video game franchise Twisted Metal made its premiere on the Peacock streaming service back in July, it quickly became one of Peacock’s top five original series, racking up 400 million viewing minutes in its first weekend and earning the honor of being the streamer’s “most-binged” premiere. Now season 2 is speeding ahead… and Michael Jonathan Smith has taken to social media to confirm that filming on the new season has wrapped! Smith also said that Twisted Metal season 2 is “even bigger than the first one.”

“An enjoyable blast of cartoonishly violent mayhem, Twisted Metal sometimes struggles to flesh out its source material, but ultimately offers an adaptation with surprising depth.” This is the summary that Rotten Tomatoes used to describe the first season of Twisted Metal, Peacock’s adaptation of the popular video game series that premiered back in 2023.
We knew that a second season had been green-lit, and we can now officially confirm that filming has officially been completed and that the post-production phase is officially beginning, which means that we are going to see the second relatively soon; a release date has not been confirmed, but we can expect it to be released in 2025.
The information was shared on social media by showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith, who also shared some behind-the-scenes photos to commemorate the end of filming. In this report, we are going to bring you all you need to know about...

The history of Hollywood adapting video games in movies and TV shows has been a little spotty, to say the least, but in recent years, I think the tide has been turning. With shows like The Last of Us and Fallout, video game fans have developed a little hope to see their favorite adapted into a great piece of art and while there will still be wasted efforts like Netflix’s The Witcher and Paramount+’s Halo, they are still only two shows. So, in keeping with that spirit of hope we created a list of the 10 best TV shows that were adapted from video games, they can be original stories in the world of video games but they have to be connected to the original IP.

“I want to give the fans what they want, just not the way they think they want it,” declares “Twisted Metal” co-creator and showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith about all of the pressures and expectations that are inherent in adapting a beloved video game. For our recent webchat he adds, “It’s a tough challenge, especially with the video game community, who are extremely outspoken. I made jokes before the show came out that I hope I don’t get doxxed,” he laughs. “The one benefit of ‘Twisted Metal,’ being a fan of the games, is that they always changed every iteration, like no two iterations were the same, so that kind of gave us a license, so to speak, to change it up a little bit, and that’s how I approached it. We have these characters Sweet Tooth, John Doe and Calypso. How would these characters exist in this...

All Elite Wrestling has been gaining new momentum following the stellar Revolution pay-per-view. The event saw Sting’s in-ring farewell coupled with a card of other standout matches. The company also landed top free agents in recent months including Adam Copeland, Will Ospreay, and Kazuchika Okada. Another new face has been teased on the way as soon as Wednesday’s Aew Big Business edition of Dynamite from Boston. A PPV quality card headlined by Samoa Joe defending the Aew championship against Wardlow. Given the setting and timing, fans are anticipating the debut of Mercedes Mone. Despite all the excitement, Tony Khan still feels the challenges of running a large pro wrestling company. The head has been forced to weather his fair share of storms in terms of talent exits, managing a roster of strong personalities, and growing Aew’s audience. Through it all, the young owner maintains his trademark positivity.

Twisted Metal Season 2 will pick up the story of Anthony Mackie’s John Doe, where the character’s self-claimed sister, Dollface, is likely to join the post-apocalyptic madness.
(Spoilers for Season 1)
Season 1 ended with John Doe finally reaching the New San Francisco, where he’s bored with his life now, and Stephanie Beatriz’s Quite is out there stealing deliveries from milkmen.
The date of the show remains undisclosed, but it will be a twisted journey without a shadow of a doubt. Until then, the audience can enjoy the experiences Anthony Mackie shared with FandomWire regarding the TV adaptation of the popular franchise and playing Twisted Metal video games.
This Would Have Taken a Lot of Brainstorming
The Avengers star plays John Doe in the Twisted Metal series.
Unlike the TV series, the games did not particularly focus on characters. Players simply sit in vehicles to beat other drivers trying to get them.

Back in October 2023, professional wrestler Sting revealed that he would be retiring from in-ring competition in 2024 and the time has finally come. At All Elite Wrestling (Aew) Revolution, Sting performed his final match along with Darby Allin. Together, the two competed for the Aew World Tag Team Championship against the Young Bucks.
Sting and Darby Allin emerged victorious over the Young Bucks in the Aew Tag Team Championship
While Sting and Darby Allin managed to retain their tag team titles, there was something else that made Sting’s retirement match all the more memorable and exciting – the stunts. 64-year-old Sting managed to pull off many death-defying stunts as he went all out for his retirement match. The man was thrown through glass, slammed into a table, and whatnot. However, it was Darby Allin’s Swanton Bomb that stole the spotlight.

With Peacock’s Twisted Metal adaptation getting the green light for a second season, showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith and team dropped a few tidbits during an interview with NBC Insider on what to expect for season 2. That includes not only the focus on the tournament itself, but also the appearance of several more fan favorites from the video game series.
“I’m really excited,” says Smith. “We have an amazing team of writers and we’re discussing the arc of the season and what the first episode might be, looking at the big picture.” Among the characters the team is looking to introduce in the show, tournament organizer Calypso will finally be making an appearance, along with Dollface (who in Peacock’s adaptation is John Doe’s long-lost sister), Mr. Grimm, and perhaps the most challenging for the showrunners, Axel.

Now season 2 is moving full steam ahead, and showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith (who also happens to be a writer on Cobra Kai) has given Syfy Wire an update, saying the writers room has been assembled for season 2 and he feels they’re going to deliver something wild.
Smith is excited to be working with characters like Dollface, Mr. Grimm, and Axel, although working a couple of those into the grounded world established in the first season presents a challenge. Pro wrestling is largely built on the faces or good guys and heels or bad guys. Then there is Maxwell Jacob Friedman. Someone who thrived on being the unabashed villain of All Elite Wrestling. Over time though something happened. The audience found love and respect for the brash Burberry bad boy, even when he was insulting them. Mjf has been relied upon by the company to deliver, and he has certainly done that. A vital member of the roster for a company snakebitten by injuries, backstage drama, and everything in between. It’s the 27-year-old’s connection with the audience that has only gotten stronger during his run as Aew world heavyweight champion. The people’s “scumbag” has defended the gold in stellar bouts with Bryan Danielson, Jay White, best friend Adam Cole, and his now former Ring of Honor tag team championship partner Samoa Joe. Peacock’s “Twisted Metal” is more than a dystopian series about bloodthirsty cars trying to blow each other up into smithereens. But for the show that switches gears between complete chaos and edgy rom-com, the infamous vehicles adapted from the popular video game franchise had to be characters of their own. Creating them was a balance in aesthetics, practicality, safety, and of course, budget — an assembly line of challenges faced by production designer Victoria Paul and picture car coordinator Ty Guidroz.
