Kina Bale-Reed, Casting Director and owner of Cast-O-Matic, a full service casting company, has been casting film, television, commercials, print and web projects in the Dallas and Texas areas for more than 10 years.
Kina started her career as an actor and graduate of KD College. After earning a degree in Acting, she was signed to a local Dallas agency and began auditioning and performing in film and theater productions around town. Nine months after graduating, she began working for her alma mater as the Casting Coordinator, assisting local casting directors and helping to facilitate their casting sessions at KD Studio. She soon found herself being offered a few small casting jobs, being that she worked at a conservatory full of aspiring actors. After discovering a "knack" for casting, Kina decided to leave KD Studio in the Fall of 2005 after 4 years of service to pursue a full time casting career. Training under some of the busiest and best casting directors in the biz, only 9 months later, she landed a job as the Casting Associate on the hit FOX series "Prison Break", Season 2. Toward the end of the season after being offered some solo opportunities, it seemed a good time to venture out on her own.
Cast-O-Matic was born in January 2007 and has been going strong ever since. Since starting the company, Kina has worked with such commercial and print clients as Ford Mustang, Children's Health, Mazda, Mary Kay, Rheem, Boost Mobile, Main Event, Academy Sports and Outdoors, NutriSystem, UT Southwestern, Frito Lay, Texas Oncology, American Heart Association, Ford, Gold Bond, Chevy, HP, US Army, Western Union, Walmart, Home Depot, Hershey's, Bass Pro Shops, Sam's Club, Juicy Juice, Pepsi, Famous Footwear, Mountain Dew, Sanyo, Nokia, Acura, and many others. Her true passion is in film and television and she was asked to sign on to cast "Barney and Friends" in the Fall of 2007. She cast three seasons and numerous home videos for the franchise until 2010 when production officially ended. She also worked on multiple film projects that have gone on to win numerous awards at various film festivals including Sundance, Tribeca, HollyShorts Film Festival, Bare Bones Intl Film Festival, Houston Worldfest, Lone Star Film Festival, and AFI Dallas.
Recent projects include principal casting for feature films Occupy, Texas with director Jeff Barry, Upstream Color with director and Sundance winner Shane Carruth, Ace Wonder: Message from a Dead Man with award winning director John Robert Moore, extras casting for feature films Sironia, The Final, A Mind of Its Own, and Midgets vs Mascots. Television credits include General Auditions for Tyler Perry Studios, casting the ABC True Crime series "Final Witness: The Kids Aren't Alright" (Season 1, Episode 1), "Barney and Friends" (Seasons 1200-1400) and extras casting on the much talked about FOX series "Lone Star" starring Jon Voight, David Keith, and James Wolk.
