‘Buffy’ Meets ‘Fleabag’ in Vampire Rom-Com ‘She Kills Them’ Starring Kate Mara
Kate Mara
Kate Mara will star in the vampire romantic comedy She Kills Them, Variety has learned.

She’ll play Chloe Jacobs, a woman in her late 30s living a dangerous double life. By night, she seduces and slays vampires as part of a secret government operation. By day, she’s just another jaded New Yorker trying to figure out her personal life. But when she meets Eric — someone she actually connects with — her two worlds collide.

Dan Clark (“How Not to Live Your Life”) will write and direct with Matthew E. Chausse producing.

“Imagine if ‘Buffy’ grew up to become ‘Fleabag,’” said Clark. “While there’s action and vampires, this is ultimately a grounded, character-driven romantic comedy — think Silver Linings Playbook with the occasional kick-ass fight sequence.”

London-based Tea Shop Films and Paris-based The Project are behind the film.

They said in a joint statement, “We love seeing a romantic comedy...

‘Skylines’ VOD Review
Image
Stars: Lindsey Morgan, Rhona Mitra, Alexander Siddig, James Cosmo, Daniel Bernhardt, Jonathan Howard, Yayan Ruhian, Ieva Andrejevaite, Samantha Jean, Giedre Mockeliunaite, Jeremy Fitzgerald | Written by Liam O’Donnell, Matthew E. Chausse | Directed by Liam O’Donnell

When I started watching Skylines, I’ll admit the first thing that surprised me was that this is in fact the third movie. Thankfully with the recap given, this didn’t stop me from enjoying what was to come…

With the friendly alien hybrids now living on Earth, danger looms as a new virus starts to turn them against humans. Captain Rose Corley (Lindsey Morgan) finds herself coerced into leading an elite team of mercenaries on a mission to alien home world in order to try to save what is left of humanity.

The first thing I liked about Skylines is the fact there are plenty of familiar faces who are dependable at providing strong performances.

Frightfest 2020: ‘Skylin3s’ Review
Image
Stars: Lindsey Morgan, Rhona Mitra, Alexander Siddig, James Cosmo, Daniel Bernhardt, Jonathan Howard, Yayan Ruhian, Ieva Andrejevaite, Samantha Jean, Giedre Mockeliunaite, Jeremy Fitzgerald | Written by Liam O’Donnell, Matthew E. Chausse | Directed by Liam O’Donnell

I had initially started this review with a brief history of the place in my heart that I have for the Skyline franchise but you know what? Let me just say that I am a total sci-fi nerd, I love alien invasion film and I especially love a flick that has the balls to have insane ambition and looks to create a wide reaching universe. Skyline has always been that franchise! A franchise that knows exactly what it is and where it wants to be; a franchise that for the budget they have, always pulls out the stops and impresses from start to finish; a franchise that lets be honest doesn’t get the credit it deserves.
