Donna ultimately pursued her passion in the culinary arts and went on to become a private chef. She worked at Eataly Flatiron and taught staff classes focused on international spices. She did food demonstrations focusing on gourmet foods such as caviar, truffles and Italian cheeses. She worked at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York. She volunteered as a chef at the James Beard House and worked under renowned chefs such as Daniel Boulud. She is currently writing a cookbook infusing American Southern cuisine with Southern Italian cuisine
