“Provocative Storytelling”: Christopher Meloni Reveals His Hopes for ‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Season 6
Image
Law & Order: Organized Crime wraps its fifth season tomorrow. It's the first season to stream exclusively on Peacock after the announcement that the series was renewed but moving from NBC to the streamer last year. Now, after 10 episodes, fans will find out just how far Christopher Meloni's Detective Elliot Stabler is willing to go. In an interview with TV Insider ahead of being honored at the North Fork TV Festival, Meloni was asked about the potential Season 6 and how the finale could set up the future of the show and says "that’s a question that is unanswerable simply because I don’t think anybody including Peacock knows exactly what they’re going to do just yet." As for his personal hopes he says:

Reyes Heads Undercover in New 'Law & Order: Organized Crime' Season 5 Sneak Peek [Exclusive]
Image
Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 5 continues this week as the crew of the Organized Crime Control Bureau tries to suss out who is behind the newest operation. Where things left off in Episode 3, "Paranza dei Bambini," Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) was meeting up with his son, Eli (Nick Torchia), and Eli's pregnant girlfriend, Becky (Kiaya Scott), were all shot at by assailants on a motorbike with an automatic weapon. Now, in "Promesse Infrante," premiering tomorrow exclusively on Peacock, we're seeing the aftermath of that and another Occb team member heading undercover.

Collider is thrilled to exclusively reveal a new sneak peek from the episode. In the sneak peek, Detective Bobby Reyes (Rick Gonzalez), Professor Kyle Vargas (Tate Ellington), and Sgt. Why isn't Organized Crime part of Law & Order's upcoming crossover event?
Image
Law & Order is gearing up for a major crossover event. The flagship show will join forces with Law & Order: Svu for a two-part special on Thursday, April 17. These two episodes will then be followed by a new episode of Law & Order: Organized Crime. Given the franchise's knack for melding characters from different shows, and the scheduling of three Law & Order titles in a row, fans are understandably confused as to why Organized Crime will not be part of the crossover.

It would make sense, on paper, to have all three shows connect for a storyline the same way NBC recently did with One Chicago. The more the merrier, and given that all of the Dick Wolf shows that have staged crossovers stem from Law & Order, it only seems right that the franchise follows suit.

Organized Crime will stop airing on NBC after April 17 Law & Order:...

‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Gets Premiere Date on Peacock
Image
The Law & Order universe will officially expand to streaming in April.

Peacock has set an April 17 premiere date for season five of Law & Order: Organized Crime, its first since moving from NBC following the end of season four. Two episodes will stream that day, with the remainder of the 10-episode season rolling out weekly.

Organized Crime is the first Law & Order show to air somewhere other than NBC since Criminal Intent moved to USA Network in 2007.

Along with the premiere date, Peacock released a brief teaser (watch it below) and several photos from the coming season. The logline reads, “Season five explores the dangerous worlds of cross-border smuggling, high-tech domestic terrorism and a crime family intent on repaying Stabler (Christopher Meloni) for the injury he did them in Rome. As his worlds collide, Stabler will put everything on the line to protect the vulnerable and fight for justice.

Law & Order: Organized Crime is Becoming the Best of the Franchise
Image
The most recent franchise spinoff, Law & Order: Organized Crime, has taken a different approach from its very first episode. Organized Crime incorporates personal stories that help elevate the case-related storylines. New showrunner John Shiban has brought new life and an important level of consistency to the show.

When Law & Order: Organized Crime premiered on April 1, 2021, it did two things -- it introduced a new group of detectives that focused on solving cases related to organized crime, and it brought a character back to the franchise that Law & Order: Svu fans had been missing for a decade. The return of Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni), first in Svu's Season 22, Episode 9, "Return of the Prodigal Son," and followed immediately by Organized Crime's Season 1, Episode 1, "What Happens in Puglia," was the character comeback heard 'round the world. While that was great for fans of Svu and of Christopher Meloni, what is...

‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Team Suffers Major Setback in Sneak Peek (Video)
Image
Tate Ellington had told us that the technical difficulties suffered by the team in the last episode would continue going forward, and TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek of the May 9 episode of Law & Order: Organized Crime shows just that. Jet (Ainsley Seiger) passes the laptop from the Boone farm to Vargas (Ellington). “If we can find a pattern in the heroin smuggling routes, maybe we can narrow down where and when the Emery shipment’s coming in,” she says. Then an Atf agent comes in to speak with Bell (Danielle Moné Truitt), but she quickly shuts him down when he starts talking about sharing information and being transparent in their joint operation. However, Vargas panicking—”This is not happening!”—puts a stop to that. Watch the full sneak peek above to find out how big of a problem this is. In “Goodnight,” Stabler (Christopher Meloni) and Randall (Dean Norris...

There have been talks of the NBC drama moving over to Peacock for its fifth season, with nothing official yet (while Law & Order and Svu have both already been renewed). “I’m not privy to all those talks. Now updated for modern times with more awkward jokes. A holiday fairytale comedy about a genie, a man, and landing one last chance to fix the mess you’ve made of your life. With his job, life & family unraveling around him, a despondent Bernard (Paapa Essiedu) dusts off a jewelry box and unintentionally releases genie Flora, who just might be able to help him. Maybe. It's a longshot, frankly. Starring Melissa McCarthy as the genie, plus Denée Benton, Marc Maron, Jordyn McIntosh, Luis Guzmán, Tate Ellington, Lachanze, and Alan Cumming. I'm a...

Image
Richard Curtis, the prolific writer-director behind Love Actually, is gifting audiences yet another holiday comedy this year. Set to release on Nov. 22 on Peacock, Genie stars Melissa McCarthy as Flora, a wish-granting being summoned by hapless workaholic Bernard, played by Paapa Essiedu.

The trailer is filled with Curtis’ signature feel-good, witty banter and sparkly shots of Christmas tinsel in the background. Flora literally poofs into Bernard’s life when he needs it the most — he’s missed his daughter’s birthday, his wife has left him, and his boss has given him the boot.

Maggie Moore(s) Review: John Slattery’s Howdunnit Lacks Cohesion and Novelty
John Slattery
There are actors who direct films, and there are those who establish themselves as real-deal filmmakers. In the first category we find John Slattery, a fine actor who, after a respectable career as “that guy,” reached a new level at age 45 thanks to Mad Men. The AMC series was still on the air when Slattery directed his first film, God’s Pocket, in 2014, and he returns now, nearly 10 years on, with the dark comedy Maggie Moore(s). Following his on-screen reunion with Mad Men co-star Jon Hamm in last year’s Confess, Fletch, Slattery here casts the actor in the lead role as Jordan Sanders, a lonely police chief investigating the connection between the murders of two women, each named Maggie Moore.

The first Maggie to die (played by Emily Blunt) is married to Jay (Micah Stock), the owner of a restaurant franchise who plans to become the Howard Schultz of submarine sandwiches.

The Brave EP Divulges What Would've Happened in Season 2: [Spoiler] Lives! [Spoiler] Dies! and a New Love Triangle

If NBC hadn’t ended The Brave‘s mission after its freshman run, Season 2 of the military drama would’ve taken an improvised explosive device to storylines (and at least one fledgling romance) established in Season 1.

“I wanted to eliminate the two or three things about the show that seemed like hurdles,” series creator Dean Georgaris told TVLine in a recent interview. First order of business? A complete change of location.

And the man behind the Jigsaw killer in the Saw franchise isn't done yet. His latest movie, Belzebuth, a dark, terrifying new tale of demonic possession, is here.

Bradley Whitford
Lincoln Rhyme Canceled by NBC After One Season
Bradley Whitford
Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector will cease any kind of hunt, at least on NBC, which has canceled the serial-killer-chasing drama after an abbreviated inaugural season.

NBC’s cancelation of Lincoln Rhyme, reported via Variety, was a two-birds-with-one-stone move that also saw the nixing of another freshman offering in the Bradley Whitford-headlined comedy, Perfect Harmony. While no official explanation was given for the cancelations, the move obviously occurs during a time of intrinsic uncertainty with NBC’s 2020-2021 season plans still draped in mystery as productions remain halted in the wake of the ongoing Covid-19 crisis. Thus, while the pandemic has become the go-to generic answer for delays and cancelations, it is, nevertheless, an unavoidable factor.

Lincoln Rhyme made a heralded arrival on NBC this past January 10 with a lengthy title referencing The Bone Collector, which identifies it as an adaptation of Jeffery Deaver’s novel and...

‘Perfect Harmony’ and ‘Lincoln Rhyme’ Canceled by NBC After 1 Season
Bradley Whitford
The Bradley Whitford comedy “Perfect Harmony” and Russell Hornsby-led drama “Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector” have been canceled at NBC after one season apiece, an individual familiar with the situation tells TheWrap.

“Perfect Harmony” premiered last fall and averaged a 0.6 rating among the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic and 2.9 million total viewers, according to the “most current” data from Nielsen, which includes a week’s worth of delayed viewing where available. “Lincoln Rhyme” debuted in January and averaged a 0.8 in the key demo and 5.6 million viewers.

Starring Whitford and Anna Camp, “Perfect Harmony” followed former Princeton music professor Arthur Cochran (Whitford), who unexpectedly stumbles into choir practice at a small-town church and finds a group of singers “that are out of tune in more ways than one,” per its official description. “Despite the ultimate clash of sensibilities, Arthur and his newfound cohorts may just be the perfect mix...

‘Perfect Harmony,’ ‘Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector’ Canceled at NBC
Image
The freshman comedy “Perfect Harmony” and the freshman drama “Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector” have both been canceled at NBC, Variety has learned from sources.

“Perfect Harmony” wrapped its one and only season in January, while “Lincoln Rhyme” ended in March.

NBC declined to comment.

The cancellations come as networks and studios are grappling with how to proceed with the fall season in the wake of the production shutdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic. NBC had already renewed a number of its current shows prior to the shutdown, including “This Is Us,” “New Amsterdam,” all three “Chicago” shows, and “Law & Order: Svu.”

NBC and ABC have not yet released their fall schedules, while Fox, The CW, and CBS have. The CW and Fox are relying heavily on acquired programming and shows held from this season. CBS thus far is the only broadcaster to commit to airing its normal fall lineup.

Jonathan Mangum in First Trailer for 'A Patient Man' Revenge Drama
"People deal with the loss of a loved one in a lot of ways..." The first official trailer has debuted for an indie revenge drama titled A Patient Man, marking the feature directorial debut of veteran editor Kevin Ward. Tom has been in a terrible car accident. After four months of recovering from his injuries, he starts the long process of putting his life back together again. And also begins planning revenge on the person responsible. It's pretty obvious from the trailer what's going on, so it's not really a spoiler or anything, but this does look like a tricky setup for a film to make you wonder what's really happening. Jonathan Mangum stars with Tate Ellington, plus a small cast including Kelsey Scott, David Jahn, Elaine Loh, and Amir Talai. This looks like a low key psychological drama that may be worth a watch. I also dig the minimalistic poster.

NBC Sets ‘Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector’ Midseason Premiere Date
NBC has set its midseason premiere dates, including that of the highly anticipated adaptation of Jeffrey Deaver’s bestselling crime novel “The Bone Collector.”

The three new shows whose debut dates have been revealed are “Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector,” premiering Jan. 10 in the Friday 8 p.m. time slot, “Indebted,” debuting Feb. 6 in the Thursday 9:30 p.m. slot, and “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist,” which will hit the airwaves on Feb. 16 in the Sunday 9 p.m. slot.

The arrival of “Indebted” in early Feb. confirms that the Bradley Whitford comedy “Perfect Harmony” will not be receiving a full season order, which sources say was the intention from the beginning given the actor’s busy schedule. A decision on whether or not “Perfect Harmony” will get a second aria is expected to be made at a later date.

“Lincoln Rhyme” follows the titular former NYPD detective and forensic genius,...
