Known for his comedy films, fast camera and dark sense of humor which
reflect the Mexican way of life. Portes was born in Mexico City, began
drawing storyboards while studying film school. Born in Mexico City.
His 1st feature film: "Conozca la Cabeza de Juan Pérez" (a horror
comedy about a lowlife Magician who steals a Cursed Guillotine) wins
the Opera Prima Award and Best Actress Award at Guadalajara's Film Fest
in 2008. In 2010 the film wins 4 Ariel Awards from the Mexican Film
Academy including Best Supporting Actor, Wardrobe Design and Visual
Effects. In 2011, his 2th film "Pastorela" a Christmas Horror-Comedy of
Police Agents vs. Exorcists, opens at 2th Place at the Mexican Box
Office, holding into the Top10 for 6 weeks with the winter blockbusters
and remaining for 11 weeks overall with a million tickets sold. In 2012
the "Pastorela" wins 7 Mexican Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best
Director, Best Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor, Wardrobe Design,
Makeup Design and Visual Effects. His 3th film as director and
screenwriter, a gun for hire, was a film parody about Mexican Cinema
called "El Crimen del Cacaro Gumaro" the film was was the debut of one
of the most beloved mexican comedians, Andrés Bustamante and the
seventh-best opening weekend ever for a Mexican film. He's developing a
Horror Film and a Mockumentary.
