Newsflash: I can't stop thinking about the Oscars. I'm writhing around in my bathrobe crying Irving Thalberg's name and opening every briefcase I can find, just in case Price Waterhouse hid the list of this year's winners in my attic. (Still looking!) In the meantime, let's take a moment to honor some occasions when The Academy Awards were worthy of this level of fanaticism. Here are the five greatest winners in my favorite category, Best Supporting Actress. You can't beat a woman going for broke in a secondary role; there's a nothing-to-lose gutsiness about these dames, and they make the most of their every fleeting moment onscreen.
5. Kim Hunter, A Streetcar Named Desire

A Pretty Little Liars friend from Catherine’s past will step inside the yellow tape of CSI next month.
EW has learned that Annabeth Gish, who played therapist Anne Sullivan on ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars this summer, will join the CBS series for a three-episode arc.
She will play Laura, a childhood friend of Catherine’s (Marg Helgenberger) whose husband is investigated by the CSI team. Laura is married to a billionaire head of a military contractor who may (or may not) have played a role in a recent arms theft. (The husband has yet...

The truth is out there about Marg Helgenberger’s hush-hush exit plot on CSI, and I have a hunch X-Files vet Annabeth Gish figures squarely in the middle of it.
The actress has landed a three-episode arc as Laura, an old friend of the soon-to-depart Catherine. When the two reconnect after 20 years apart, Cath discovers a surprising terror underneath her pal’s cheery exterior — a terror that she suspects is linked to her powerful bazillionaire hubby whose company may or may not have been involved in some very shady goings-on.
Gish’s first of three non-consecutive episodes is slated to air during November sweeps.

Hanna is going to open up about Allison's death to a therapist in upcoming episode of "Pretty Little Liars". In a new clip for "Blind Dates", the blonde liar meets Annabeth Gish's Anne Sullivan who claims that she can help the girl.
"I've talked to a lot of young people about loss," Anne convinces Hanna. "Sometimes it's feelings of guilt that's holding them back. Sometimes it's anger or fear. Sometimes it's all three." The therapist further advises Hanna to have a conversation with Allison in order that she can move on from the murder.
Also in the July 5 outing, Hanna will help Lucas to score a date with his new dream girl, but her idea of what is helpful starts to backfire when Caleb is thrown into the mix. Aria has a chance encounter with Jason that brings back some surprising memories.

What does the future hold for Aria and Ezra? Is Ian really alive? Staff members Matt Richenthal, Steve Marsi and Eric Hochberger tackle these and other questions in this edition of the TV Fanatic Round Table. As always, we encourage readers to chime in with their opinion on the following topics...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What was your favorite scene from the episode?
Matt: When the girls saw Ezra's diploma in their therapist's office. I know I should be prepared for all surprises on this show, but that one took me aback. I didn't see it coming.
Steve: Everything with Toby. Think of how far this guy has come in less than one season; from a shady presence I was sure had to be up to something, to a legitimately good friend...
ABC Family Scene from “Pretty Little Liars.”
ABC Family’s charming teen soap Pretty Little Liars is nothing if not a guilty pleasure. And last night’s season 2 premiere, which found the show back with new episodes for the first time since March, certainly delivered on that deliciously guilty front. One of my favorite, delightful moments was a quick exchange between two of the show’s main BFFs Aria (Lucy Hale) and Hanna (Ashley Benson), after the gal’s secret-wielding nemesis “A” had struck yet again, while the foursome was at one of their newly mandated therapy sessions. “How is ‘A’ always one step ahead of us?...
"It's Alive."
The title of this episode was likely a reference to Ian's body, but it could very well have been talking about the ongoing drama, mystery and romance of Pretty Little Liars - because this episode made it clear: all are alive and well on season two!
Let's start with the love that remained in the air. Both Ezra and Caleb dropped the L word on Aria and Hanna, respectively. What was your reaction to each admission?
I don't doubt both men meant it, but I'm over the icky relationship between teacher and student. There were plenty of reasons all along while these two shouldn't be together, but the arrival of Jackie really should seal their demise. Best to end it now before one of them really gets in trouble.
I'm down with the rekindling of the Haleb flame, however. Haven't we all been tasked with gathering intel on...
The season finale of ABC Family’s addictive and stylish teen soap Pretty Little Liars left a lot of questions hanging when it aired back in March. Most glaringly, what the heck happened to Ian’s body after he was seemingly hanged in the belltower at the hands of Spencer and the ever-mysterious “A”? Since the series returns tonight with its second-season premiere, answers are to come soon enough. But how about a little preview of what’s gonna happen this season to tide you over? EW was on the show’s set last month and has all the scoop.
Aria Montgomery's love life is getting more complicated in season 2 of "Pretty Little Liars". The character played by Lucy Hale will find herself caught in a love triangle as another man threatens her relationship with Ezra.
Making it more intriguing, the third person is none other than the brother of her deceased friend, Alison. "You've met the character before," executive producer I. Marlene King gushes about Aria's new love interest. "But he's been recast so it's going to be a new actor in that role."
Alison's brother Jason Dilaurentis has indeed been recast with Drew Van Acker replacing original actor Parker Bagley. On why they decided to recast the role, Marlene claims, "This actor works more for where we're going with that story."
Spilling more details on how Aria and Jason grow closer, Marlene explains, "He plays a dark and mysterious guy, and he taps into Aria's dark and mysterious side.
Yesterday Arthur Penn, the director of Bonnie and Clyde, died aged 88. We look back over his career in clips
Arthur Penn cut his teeth as a director on the American television drama circuit of the 1950s, contributing to a range of the playhouse and showcase series that were a staple of the industry. Western stories were among the episodes he delivered and his feature debut was a genre piece, a version of the Billy the Kid story called The Left Handed Gun (1958), starring Paul Newman, also at the start of his cinema career after a small-screen apprenticeship. The film had hints of the broadly sympathetic – or at least empathetic – view of outlaw psychology that would mark Penn's most famous film.
For his next film, Penn drew on his stage directing experience, transferring to the screen the Broadway production of The Miracle Worker in which he directed Anne Sullivan and Patty Duke...
Arthur Penn, the director of the polarizing "Bonnie and Clyde" whose films often flew in the face of American mythology, died Tuesday, one day after his 88th birthday.
Daughter Molly Penn said her father died of congestive heart failure at his Manhattan home. Longtime friend and business manager Evan Bell said Wednesday that Penn had been ill for about a year.
A product of the golden era of live television and an accomplished theater director, Penn's work on "The Miracle Worker" earned him an Emmy nomination in 1957, a Tony in 1959 and an Oscar nom in 1962. At one time, Penn had five hits running simultaneously on Broadway.
Penn was one of a group of directors -- including John Frankenheimer, Sidney Lumet and Norman Jewison -- whose films were intelligent glimpses into politics, morals and social institutions. Often, they were met with controversy.
"No one expects you to perform miracles," says the head of the Perkins Institute for the Blind sending his prized pupil Anne Sullivan south from Boston to Tuscumbia, Alabama, to a family where she is to become governess to an unruly blind and deaf girl named Helen Keller. The line gets a big laugh at the Circle in the Square Theater because, in this cherished, inspiring story of true events from 1880-well-known from the original 1959 play by William Gibson and a first-rate 1962 movie-of course work a miracle is exactly what she does. This revival of Gibson's play features a wonderful supporting cast of seasoned actors: Elizabeth Franz plays Helen's aunt, Jennifer Morrison, Helen's mother, and Matthew Modine in his Broadway debut rises to skeptical, curmudgeonly fervor as Helen's father. In a quasi-developed subplot with his son James (Tobias...
