In most Asian communities, I guess it’s customary for the wife to live with her husband’s family. This practice has been unquestionably followed for ages because nobody really wonders if a woman wants to be cooped up with her in-laws for the rest of her life and watch at least 2 more generations do the same while becoming the person she hates the most: her mother-in-law. Slowly but steadily, this tradition is being questioned, and couples are either living somewhere that’s close to both of their parents or not getting married at all just to avoid this particular hassle. That said, when it comes to the fictional depiction of this issue, even in the 2020s, India is churning out projects that are saying that it’s actually wrong of women to even think about asking men to sever the metaphorical umbilical cord and lead a life that’s...

I Am Married But’s ending was centered around the revelation that I-ling was actually texting her own husband, Zeng Xue-you, through a dating app. I-ling worked at an advertising firm, and she was forced to download the dating app to appease her clients. Since I-ling’s married life was a mess, largely due to her husband, Xue-you’s overreliance on his mother, and his mother’s overinvolvement in Xue-you and I-ling’s life, she began using that app (under the alias Sunny) just to see if there was someone out there for her. She matched with a guy called Rain, and the two hit it off almost immediately. The show used Liu Wen-chieh, a pharmacist that I-ling had met, and Zhang Ren-wei, I-ling’s college friend and colleague, as red herrings to mislead the audience regarding Rain’s identity. To complicate things even further, Xue-you began gravitating towards his colleague,...

Many fans rebelled when Ryan Seacrest joined Wheel of Fortune as the new host. On top of the fans who didn’t think he could replace Pat Sajak, others just hated Ryan as a person. Of course, none of these people knew him; many just knew him from the TV shows he appeared on. Now, people are speaking out and defending him based on who he is and what he does.
Here is a look at the real Ryan Seacrest and what people are saying about him.

For several years, Alaskan Bush People brought the life of the Brown family to fans as they moved from Alaska to Washington before the series aired its last season. It all started with Billy Brown and his wife Ami as they raised their children in the bush of Alaska. However, for fans who might have joined the family late, there are questions about how this all started.
Here is how the Brown family was discovered on the hit Discovery Channel reality TV show.
How Did Alaskan Bush People Start?
Alaskan Bush People began in the bush of Alaska, with Billy Brown teaching his kids how to survive off the land without needing to accept anything from society or the government. While they eventually had to give in after Ami Brown’s cancer, the family has kept what their dad taught them close to their heart.

Director Fede Alvarez’s contribution to the Alien franchise, Alien: Romulus (you can read our review Here), was a success – so it was no surprise to hear, just a couple of months after the film’s theatrical release, that 20th Century Studios was working with Alvarez to develop a sequel to the film. Now, Alvarez has had to address a rumor that Alien franchise heroine Ripley, who was played by Sigourney Weaver in the first four films, might return for the Alien: Romulus sequel.
The rumor started with industry scooper Daniel Richtman, who reported, “For the next Alien movie, they’re considering bringing back Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) using de-aging technology.” Alvarez quickly took to social media to debunk the rumor, writing, “Fun gossip. But not true at all.” So don’t expect to see a de-aged Ripley show up in the Alien: Romulus sequel.

It’s a big day for the Alien franchise, with Fede Alvarez’s Alien: Romulus officially receiving an Oscar nomination this morning for Best Visual Effects. But that wasn’t the only Alien news for today, as rumors began swirling earlier this afternoon that Alvarez and company are looking to bring Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley back to the screen for the sequel to Romulus.
The rumor originated from scooper Daniel Richtman. He writes, “For the next Alien movie, they’re considering bringing back Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) using de-aging technology.”
Is there any truth to the rumor? Well, Fede Alvarez himself has taken to Twitter to completely debunk the report. “Fun gossip,” he responds to the rumor. “But not true at all.”

Alien: Romulus takes place between the events of Sir Ridley Scott's Alien and James Cameron's Aliens, a creative decision which opened the door to exciting cameos and world-building opportunities.
The movie cleverly brought back Ian Holm as the android Rook after the late actor previously played Ash in the 1979 classic. There was some controversy due to the use of CGI and AI, but longtime fans appreciated the connective tissue with what's come before.
Alien: Romulus ended with something of a cliffhanger and filmmaker Fede Álvarez is already hard at work on a sequel. According to insider Daniel Richtman (via SFFGazette.com), there are discussions about bringing back Sigourney Weaver's Ripley with de-aging technology.
Disney has mastered the ability to de-age actors - largely through MCU projects - so we've no doubt Weaver would look as badass as ever returning to her most iconic role.

Alien: Romulus' latest sequel update alludes to the same challenge the franchise faced 39 years ago. Alien: Romulus gained commercial and critical acclaim when it was released in 2024, introducing a new younger cast of characters, and following the long-established tradition of final girls in the Alien franchise. The newest Alien movie grossed $350 million at the box office worldwide, placing itself just under 2012’s Prometheus, and has an 80% Tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes. Ranking as one of the highest-earning Alien movies, it therefore comes as no surprise that an Alien: Romulus sequel has been discussed by director, Fede Álvarez.
Alien: Romulus soft-rebooted the Alien franchise with a brand-new story, following Rain Carradine (Cailee Spaeny) and her synthetic brother Andy (David Jonsson) as she journeys alongside friends to a nearby abandoned Weyland-Yutani station. The group encounters a few surprises on the vessel as they try to steal cryostasis equipment to help them leave their rundown system.

Alaskan Bush People star Bird Brown is on TikTok, Threads, and Instagram. But now, the Discovery Channel star revealed that she started a YouTube Channel. Some fans fear that the Brown family becoming so active on social media might mean they never get to see new seasons of the show.
Bird Brown Is Very Active On Social Media
Alaskan Bush People fans are grateful because of her cancer scare. Everyone fears tumors and illness, so she keeps them updated about her checkups. So far, so good, it seems. Plus, Discovery fans love it when she shares about her animals: especially her cats.
Discovery Channel stars like Bird Brown and the rest of their family became way more active on social media. Their fans fear that it’s because the show might not be renewed. For now, that does mean that their content is welcome. Except for the current feud between Rain and Noah Brown.

Alien: Romulus arrived in theaters last August, earning glowing reviews (it's "Certified Fresh" on Rotten Tomatoes at 80%) and an impressive $350 million at the worldwide box office.
The movie was widely considered a return to form for the long-running sci-fi/horro franchise and Hot Toys is going all in on the movie with another 1/6th scale figure. They revealed a terrifying Scored Xenomorph a couple of months ago and that's been followed by an eerily realistic take on Cailee Spaeny's (Civil War) Rain.
The likeness is extremely impressive and, given what a first fan-favourite the character has already become, we're not exactly shocked to see her get the Hot Toys treatment. Will any other characters follow? If so, David Jonsson's Andy will be high up on the wishlists of many Alien fans.
After all, both he and Rain are expected to return in Fede Alvarez's sequel. "Rodo [Sayagues, co-writer] and...

The Alien: Romulus sequel gets an exciting new update from director Fede Alvarez, who teases a change in direction. ‘Alien: Romulus’ received generally positive reviews, with critics praising its striking visuals, claustrophobic tension, and a strong performance by Cailee Spaeny. Many called it one of the best sequels in the ‘Alien’ franchise, with some even comparing it to the classic ‘Aliens.’ However, some critics felt it lacked depth in character development and ambition, with a few citing the film’s formulaic approach and predictable pacing, there’s also that “best moments” highlight reel that not many fans liked.
Soon after the movie was released, Álvarez mentioned in an interview that he had ideas for a sequel to ‘Romulus,’ but he didn’t want to rush into it. He believes in taking time to develop the story and only making a sequel if there is strong demand from the audience.

Fede Alvarez Wants To Try Something New With Alien Romulus Sequel: ‘We Can Go Into Uncharted Waters’
With Alien: Romulus, director Fede Alvarez aimed to make something that neatly slotted between Alien and Aliens – returning to the original two classics, while also liberally referencing everything from Alien: Resurrection and Prometheus, to the beloved Alien: Isolation video game. As a result, his film brought new characters and variations on the Alien mythology – but was all about capturing that legendary iconography anew.
If a Romulus sequel does happen, though, it seems Alvarez plans to go in the opposite direction – taking Alien somewhere more unexpected. “Rodo [Sayagues, co-writer] and I are working on that right now,” the filmmaker tells Empire. “We’re excited about where it can go. We’ve almost checked all of the boxes of things that I want to see [in Romulus], and brought back a lot of the things I hadn’t seen in a while. When the sequel to Alien: Romulus continues Rain and Andy’s adventures, it can do something with the xenomorphs that no previous Alien movie has done. 20th Century Studios boss Steve Asbell has confirmed that a sequel to Alien: Romulus is in development. They’re in talks with Fede Álvarez to return as the director, and it seems as though Asbell recognizes what worked so well the first time. He wants to continue the story of Rain and Andy, the sole survivors played by Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson, and see where their intergalactic journey takes them next.
The reason why Alien: Romulus worked so well is that the audience genuinely cared about the characters. Rain’s fierce protectiveness of her android brother made her easy to root for. Disney already has the perfect property to rival the blockbuster monster-movie crossovers of Legendary Pictures’ Monsterverse — and it’ll be completely its own thing. The Monsterverse originated as a standalone American reboot of the Godzilla franchise back in 2014. That movie was a big success, so a series of sequels and spinoffs were developed to introduce other classic monsters like Kong, Rodan, and King Ghidorah in that same shared cinematic universe. The Monsterverse, like The Conjuring Universe, has since gone on to become one of the highest-grossing cinematic universes not bearing the ol’ reliable Marvel brand.
For more than a decade now, the Monsterverse has dominated the monster movie market. Audiences love Godzilla and they love Kong, so they turn up in droves when a Monsterverse movie either pits Godzilla and Kong against each other or teams them up to fight a common enemy. Since it has two of the biggest movie monsters sharing the screen,...

The following contains spoilers for Alien Romulus
Alien: Romulus has some pretty brutal deaths, even when compared to the gruesome plot turns in the other entries of the series. The film is a love letter to the long-running sci-fi/horror Alien franchise, playing with many tropes and much of the lore, all while raising the stakes in some unexpected ways. Set between Alien and Aliens on the franchise timeline, Alien: Romulus pits a group of young adult scavengers against the univere's most perfect killing machine, with the expected gruesome results.
However, the film doesn't rely entirely on the common forms of death seen in the series. While there are some Alien: Romulus character demises that feel in-debted to the original Alien, others use the realities of the situation for gruesome effect. Some of the most brutal deaths are the film's most inventive, including one that stands out as the creepiest...

In a movie full of bold choices and twists, director Fede Álvarez saves one of the biggest, literally, until last. Alien: Romulus' ending builds upon Kay's (Isabela Merced) decision to inject herself with the mysterious black goo, transforming the human baby growing inside her into something new. She gives birth to a baby who initially looks mostly human, albeit with some similarities to the Engineers, but comes out of a xenomorph egg.
The reveal of Alien: Romulus' new xenomorph hybrid is a surprise, especially as the offspring grows and transforms into its final form. The pale white skin, clawed fingers and toes, tail, and more make the human-alien a terrifying new addition to the franchise mythology. Although portions of the offspring are done using CGI,...
